Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-up Friday, where I highlight some of my favorite comments, answer questions and generally wrap up my week.
You Make Me Smile – March 16, 2014
Callie, Shadow and Ducky’s mom asked, “Great picture! Delilah is a tall girl, isn’t she?”
Yes she is. She’s actually just a tiny bit shorter than Sampson.
Frankie and Ernie asked, “What a GRAND picture that is. Wonder what Dee is looking at?”
We do have a lot of big birds in the area and they always seem to grab the dog’s attention.
Miss Flea said, “He’s going to be fine, mom. I’m guessing you’d only choose a good vet, someone who knows what they’re doing, who’s done this surgery before.”
One of my good friend uses this practice and this particular surgeon is highly recommended by my own vet. She tells me he is very passionate about his patients.
Miss Jenna from Love is Being Owned by a Husky said, “Hi there, I know you guys are super busy right now taking care of Sampson, but I have passed on ana ward to you today on my blog if you have a chance to come by and pick it up.”
Thank you very much Miss Jenna for passing on the Sunshine Award to us! We were also given this award from Jo-Ann at Sand Spring Chesapeakes!! You guys rock!
The Drinkin’ Bone’s Connected To The…
I love you all. If all of you who offered to drink with me came over, we could have one hell of a party. 😉
Molly the Wally says, “I think when it goes wrong it is sometimes harder on us than it is on them. The worry and the stress sure are major factors and there is nothing worse than trying to enforce rest on an animal that doesn’t want it.”
I agree, I don’t think Sampson is worried about his injury at all at this point. And he has no idea of his surgery. Now Tuesday he might get a little anxious when I drop him off in a strange place. That is very concerning to me.
Sue said, “This is one of my all time favorite blog posts. You realize you’re not alone, right?”
Aw, thanks Sue! Yes I really do realize I’m not alone, it helps for me to ‘get it out.’
Jan said, “You expressed so well what our dogs often do to us. But isn’t it wonderful to have such an assortment of bottled comfort to turn to.?”
It sure is! I love how there’s an alcohol for any time of the day.
And siriusly Jan, have I told you how much I love it when you type sirusly?
Callie, Shadow and Ducky’s Mom said, “Does he have a favorite, indestructible toy that you could leave for him?”
No, he has no favorite toys. I’m thinking of a tee-shirt that I can wear to bed for a couple of nights and hopefully that will be enough.
Jackie Bouchard said, “How are you going to keep yourself distracted on surgery day?”
Well I was kind of hoping you all would be distracting me with amazing blog posts. 🙂
Houndstooth said, “Sometimes humor is the best way to deal with things that upset us.”
Humor is the way I handle most tense situations. For me it helps break the ice and the tension.
Denise Straulea asked, “Will it be in the AM as she told you?”
I am only going by what they told me. I sure hope his surgery is in the morning. I don’t know how I’ll go a whole day without losing my mind.
Emma said, “It is great the Sampson likes to walk, even if it is only 5 mins.”
He wants to walk longer, but he just can’t do it. Just going down the driveway has him panting. I think it’s because he’s doing more of a hop than a walk.
2 Brown Dawgs asked, “Are you going to take any time off work after his surgery to keep an eye on him?”
Yes I am. I currently have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off and have arranged to work 1/2 days the following week. I’m hoping he will be able to stay alone for 4 1/2 hours a day. If he can’t, then I will just take that week off too.
Carol Bondy said, “luke probably would be lunging at the door.”
There are days when she’s lunging at the door too. Usually when she catches a glimpse of it running through the yard.
Roxy the Traveling Dog asked, “You need pepper spray to walk near your house?”
I feel safer carrying it. There are some scary animals in the woods, not that I’ve ever seen them, but just knowing they are there, I feel safer with the pepper spray. There was one time when someone was standing in the wood line watching me walking the dogs. (Turns out it was just a kid, but it did scare me.) And another time when I was startled by a man. Not to mention that both of my dogs have been attacked by a neighbor’s dogs.
It’s a precautionary measure but it makes me feel better.
Well I’m calling this a wrap. Thanks for joining me and have a wonderful weekend!
