Yay, I’m so glad the e-mail is working again!! And we grill in any weather, if it’s pouring we use a giant umbrella. 🙂

It would be a perfect job for you guys, since you wouldn’t have to stoop to get underneath. 🙂 I’m pretty sure the pay is just tips though.

A Great Dane Ate 43 Socks – WTF Wednesday
WHAT? Socks? Siriusly? Who in their right mind eats socks? Ohh..it was a Dane you say? Right.
Molly the Wally said, “We have to say we thought about who the heck does the laundry over there and did they not wonder why the sock monster was working on overdrive? Some people shouldn’t have socks let alone a dog LOL. Gosh do they have kids?”
You know, that thought crossed my mind too. God help them if they do!
Lauranne said, “I feel this is a friendly, none judgemental place (ha) so I am going to own up that as a puppy Mity once ate a mitten. … The vet was called within minutes!!”
See darling, the difference is 1) you knew that he ate the mitten because….wait for it…you were paying attention to your dog!! and 2) You called the vet immediately! Who knows how long that poor Dane had those socks in its stomach!

I agree with you to a point. Yes it’s true I’ve found things in the yard that could only have gotten there one way (hello Delilah) BUT we’re not talking about tennis ball fuzz or toothpicks (yes I’ve found both of those in my yard) we’re talking about 43 socks. Unless the dog just went on a crazy toe jam binge and ate them all within a short period of time, I’d say someone was not paying attention to that dog.
Pamela asked, “I wonder if this is a situation where the people knew the dog ate socks and they thought it was funny. How many YouTube videos have you seen of just this kind of thing?”
This is why I don’t search this stuff on Youtube, because there are some stupid people out there that would do it, just for the attention.
Sharon S said, ” I read another post earlier this week about a dog that ate 24 hair ties that belonged to the little girl in the family. The owner had no idea about it until the hair ties showed up on an x-ray.”
Now that I could see. Hair ties are small and are easily lost or misplaced. If you ever raised a houseful of girls you know how that goes!
Jan asked, “Did he just eat them in pairs and they didn’t notice that nothing matched up any more? ”
Yeah Jan, I’m flummoxed on this one too.
FYI I happened to be at the vet with Sampson yesterday getting his acupuncture treatment and I mentioned to my vet the incident with Delilah and the cookie. Would you believe the vet said he’d have let her have that cookie? Not intentionally of course, but he said in dog her size it wouldn’t likely hurt her. He’d be more concerned if it was baker’s chocolate.
Emma said, ” Bailie and I enjoy stealing food, but we are nothing compared to cat bro Bert. He is the worst of the worst and getting worse all the time. ”
I got nuthin’ for this one Emma. I have no idea how to control cats. One of the reasons I don’t have cats is because I don’t like them on the counters or tables and I don’t know a good way to keep them off.

We get complimented on her coat all the time, she really does have a beautiful one. Sometimes when I look at her and her ears are back she reminds me a baby seal, all sleek and shiny.
DZ Dogs asked, “Have you worked on, “leave it” with Delilah?
Yes I have and it works sometimes if I drop something, but when she’s gone up on the counter it’s not an option.

Who Wants a Cookie?
I do, I want a cookie. See how cute I am. I deserve a cookie. She doesn’t give me nearly enough cookies. She’s stingy.
Yesterday we talked about a Great Dane that ate 43 socks. Yeah, I still can’t wrap my head around that one.
However, I did mention that I’m usually pretty aware of what my dogs are up to. Let’s face it, when you live with a food motivated, food obsessed Labrador Retriever like Delilah you have to be on your toes. Typically if I’m in the kitchen cooking, cleaning or washing dishes, Delilah is right there beside me, watching and waiting for her opportunity, whether it be to snatch something I’ve dropped, or to sneak into the garbage. She’s an opportunistic dog.
We’re pretty lazy in our house. Once supper is ready we grab our meals and go sit in front of the TV. We leave the dirty pots and pans sitting on the stove or in the sink while we eat. The dogs lie on mats in the living until we are done eating when we then release them.
Once Delilah has inhaled her release treat she heads into the kitchen for clean up duty. We’re pretty good about putting extra food away and making sure she can’t get at anything, but nothing is off limits to Delilah. She will stand on her back legs to ensure a pan is properly cleaned.
After the dishes have been washed and dried, I sit down to catch up on blogging or TV. Hubby typically goes into the den. Most times if I hear a noise in the kitchen I shout “Delilah!” and Hubby will say, “It’s me.” When it actually is Delilah she will come slinking into the living room licking her lips like the Labrador that ate Cleveland.
Monday night I was watching TV and I heard a horribly loud noise (like a small stoneware bar pan slamming onto a table.) I shouted to Hubby, “Is that you?”
There was no reply. I quickly got up and assessed the situation. Hubby had made big and thick M&M cookies and set them to cool on a rack in the middle of the pool table. The bar pan was hanging off the rack and Delilah was frantically chewing.
“DROP IT, DROP IT” I screamed while opening her mouth to try and remove the cookie. She kept chewing. I couldn’t feel the cookie. I stuck my hand further in and felt the cookie in the very back of her mouth. (For reference sake the welt she left on my hand was at the base of my wrist. I measured from the tip of my middle finger to the base of my wrist. It’s seven inches.) Yes, my hand (as well as that cookie) were almost down her throat before I dug it out. But it was better than a trip to the emergency vet. LOL.
It was a beautiful cookie.
This damn dog will be the death of me. I can see the tombstone, “Death by Chocolate, and not the dessert.”
Poor eyesight.
Last week Jan and I were laughing at our poor eyesight. Seems I mistook a sign for a small white dog and Jan mistook a crow for a woodchuck.
Whatevs, it happens. Then Jan left another comment saying she mistook a mailbox for a deer. This week I had two eyesight mishaps.
On one of our morning walks I looked up and thought, look at that magnificent deer statue, I’ve never noticed it before.
What an odd spot to put a statue.
Then there were two.
Ooops, it wasn’t a statue. There were actually three of them, one larger female and two smaller ones.
On an afternoon walk, we walked past a large stand of trees and out of the corner of my eye I thought, shit that’s a big turkey.
Hey, we have big turkeys around here.
