Mama's Little Work of Art…Day Two Hundred, Three
“Mama’s little work of art,” Chet said as he rubbed Delilah’s ears.
“That’s what you are, Mama’s little work of art.”
When you think about it; dog’s really are a work of art. They enter our lives as a piece of canvas and stroke by stroke; layer by layer we create a picture. We shape the canvas with our words and deeds.
Delilah is a work of art, the result of hard work, patience, love and above all, the belief she was worth saving.
When we embarked upon this journey together 1,486 days ago, I knew it would be a tough road. Rescuing a dog with no history can be a risky undertaking, but Delilah is proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
It hasn’t been easy, as a matter of fact it has been a long, hard road that did not come without its challenges. But stroke by stroke, layer by layer my canvas has formed into a picture.
Beat The Heat…Day Two Hundred, Two
Tomorrow is the first day of summer, so far we have had relatively few really hot days in the northeast, but I’m sure that will change very soon.
Today was fairly hot and slightly humid, but the dogs don’t care they still want to get their walk in.
What we do on the hotter days is to fill the dog’s travel water bottle, we keep the walk to a maximum of half an hour and make sure to take a break at the 10 to 15 minute mark and hydrate the dogs and ourselves.
This water bottle is really awesome, it holds a quart of water and the bowl is detachable which means the dogs can drink from the bowl and we can drink from the bottle, plus it has a really long strap so you can sling it over your shoulder.
Don’t let the heat get you or your pup down, just fill up a jug and be smart about it. 🙂
Happy Hiking!
