We have no power. We got hit with a nor’easter and the snow combined with the leaves still on the trees was not a good combination!
The snow started yesterday around 12:30pm and by 4:30 when we took the dogs to the park, we had a good two to three inches.
We kept the dogs on the field because even then we could hear trees snapping.
Sampson snuck off and when he came running out of the woods he barely missed being hit by a falling branch!
When we got back to the house around 5:00 we had no power. 🙁 We set up camp in the living room in front of the fireplace. Before going to bed we packed emergency bags and set them by the door. We didn’t get much sleep do to the snap, crackle and pop of falling frees and branches.
About 3:30 am Delilah and I heard a big whoosh and a tree came down on the deck but luckily there was no damage. When we got up this morning a large branch (still attached to the tree) was resting against our front door. It’s a good thing we didn’t need to evacuate during the night. 😉
We spent the day cleaning up the yard and finally ventured out around 5:00 pm. What a sight met our eyes!
There are downed trees and power lines everywhere! Thank the good Lord it didn’t look like any homes were hit. We hurried home before it got too dark so we could be sure to see any downed wires.
We have the fireplace and a small grill and are managing to keep warm and had two hot meals today.
The dogs are bored senseless but it is still too dangerous to walk them.
Blogging will be tough but I’m in it for the long haul. 😉
We hope you are all safe and warm and look forward to catching up when we have power again. Oh and I will post some storm (not of the 2brown dawgs fame) pictures when I can work on my computer and not on my phone.
