For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.
Electricity Update –
The majority of my posts this week have had to do with our lack of electricity and how we are managing, so rather than recap every single post, I am lumping them all together. 🙂
I was supposed to be on vacation beginning Tuesday, but once the trip was cancelled I decided to go back to work. Really there was no sense in me sitting home in the dark. Since I was supposed to be away, I decided to cut each day short and leave work early to take the dogs for their daily walks, seeing as there was no daycare and no Thursday night obedience class because no-one had power.
After I walk the dogs Hubby and I head over to my sister’s place, she has power and has been preparing dinner for us every night. After we eat we head back to the house to feed the dogs, and settle in for the night.
Hubby has been keeping himself busy during the day chopping wood to keep our fire going, as well as helping friends clean-up their yards. He was taking it easy today because his back was bothering him.
We are managing, it’s not ideal but it’s doable. The power company is saying we should have power back by midnight Sunday, but just before we left for my sister’s tonight the utility company was at the house and said they were trying to get the entire neighborhood up and running tonight! That would be marvelous seeing there are still over three hundred, thousand people without power and some of the streets really look like a war zone. The pictures I have really don’t do the damage justice.
There are still some streets in my sister’s town where the streets are impassable due to broken trees and power lines.
Driving is weird. You can be driving down a street and everything appears to be somewhat normal, then BAM you see destruction everywhere.
Thankfully I haven’t seen a lot of personal property damage, I did see one car with a tree on it, but other than that the majority of the damage I have seen has been trees and wires.
Disaster Area – Author’s Note:
For some reason my phone wouldn’t upload the picture. Here is our blue-yellow trail which is blocked by this tree.
I have been trying to clear small branches as we walk, but this one is too large.
To Cassie With Love – Author’s Note:
I wasn’t sure how to work this in, but our Son-In-Law, Alex graduated yesterday along with our daughter and we are extremely proud of him as well!
We’ve had a rocky week, but we hope you rocked yours!
Thank you again for all the comments, I am working on responding to them all. 🙂
