Oh Lord, My Water Broke

October 14, 2013 By Jodi

I walked out of the bedroom door and said, “WTF is this wet spot on the floor?”

IMG_5313

My first thought was that my water had broken, but I knew that was wrong because 1) my pants weren’t wet, 2) the puddle was in front of me, not under me and last but certainly not least, I wasn’t pregnant.

My second thought was someone had an accident.

On the rug.

In front of the bedroom door, NOT in front of the ‘go outside’ door.

Then I looked up and saw the empty ice cream container.  The one I’d filled with water and left in the sink to clean out before recycling.

IMG_5315

Yup it was clean.

A couple feet away was the cover.

IMG_5314 Wow that was clean too.

I was pretty certain I’d left it in the sink.  In fact, I know I didn’t leave it on the floor.

Oh that delightful lab, Delilah with her mad lab skills carried a half-gallon ice cream container full of water, about fifteen feet BEFORE she spilled any.

Why she spilled it there is beyond me.  My guess?  She bumped into the bedroom door and dropped it.

I told you she had mad skills.

When the Universe Smacks You Upside Your Head

July 29, 2013 By Jodi

Sometimes when you have the best of intentions and think you are prepared for whatever comes your way, the universe seems to have a different idea for you.

Friday night after I had finished packing everything for our trip, I sat down to get my Candy Crack fix and my laptop wouldn’t turn on.  I checked the plug and the grounding prong had broken off. Drats!  Well Hubby will know what to do when he gets up I thought, and took out the little Chromebook I won at Blog Paws.  Thank you very much by the way, BP!

When Hubby woke up he said, “Babe, it’s fried.”

“But you can fix it, right?  I mean we just need to find a Best Buy and buy a new charging plug.”

“I think it’s the laptop and not the power cord, because the laptop should try and turn on but you’re getting nothing.”

I took a deep breath, it’ll be okay.  I have the Chromebook, my mini iPad, my camera and my phone.  I’ll make this work.

About half way to our destination I took out my camera to take a photo, as I snapped the picture the low battery symbol flashed and I realized with a sick jolt to my stomach, the charger was at home!

Well turns out you can find a cheap ($10) charger on Amazon BUT buying a universal charger at Wal-Mart is $30.  My little point and shoot camera is 7 or 8 years old, and I’m not spending $30 for a charger I have at home.

I took a deep breath, it’s okay, I have my Chromebook, my iPad and my phone.  Except the iPad and the phone don’t connect to the Chromebook so any pictures I take have to be e-mailed to myself and downloaded (which I haven’t figured out yet) so right now the pictures you’re getting are taken with the Chromebook.

I figured you won’t care, because they’re still beautiful pictures.

Last night's sunset.

Last night’s sunset.

Sampson Why are you looking at me?  You should be looking at the beautiful view.

Sitting enjoying the morning view, I’ve decided I’m going to try and listen to the Universe and take it easy. Maybe read some blogs this afternoon or work on my book.  But this morning, I’m going to take the dogs for a nice walk in the country and just enjoy the beauty of nature.

Are you in tune with the Universe or does she have to slap you upside your head like she does me?

WordPress Family

May 13, 2013 By Jodi

Monday Mischief is all me this week.

I’ve been presented with a couple of awards that I haven’t acknowledged.  And sadly, I’ve waited so long I can’t remember who gave them to me, and while I usually acknowledge the blogger by thanking them in their comments, I also like to acknowledge them in a blog post.  But I can’t do that, because I can’t find the posts.

SO, if you’ve presented me with an award sometime in the last month or two, and I haven’t acknowledged it here on this blog, please accept my sincerest and HEART felt apologies.  I promise I’ll try to do better going forward.

That all being said, I was recently presented The WordPress Family Award by JoAnn at Sand Spring Chesapeakes and I’d like to thank JoAnn for honoring me with such an award.

The WordPress Family Award was started by Shaun from Looking for reasoning to a complicated world.

With most awards, there are descriptions and rules.

Award Description:

“This is an award for everyone who is part of the ‘WordPress Family.’ I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents ‘Family’ we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honour to start this award.”

Rules:

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 10 others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.
  4. Let your 10 family members know you have awarded them.
  5. That is it. Just please pick 10 people who have taken you as a friend, and spread the love.

I’m not fond of having to choose my favorite blogs (II feel like Sophie’s Choice) and as most of my blogging friends appear to have already been nominated, I’ve decided to be more mischievous and not pass the award along, besides I don’t know which of you are on WordPress and which of you aren’t. 😉

Don’t be sad though, I’ll leave you with a lovely photo of Sampson, taken yesterday afternoon as he sat outside in the driveway watching two Golden Retrievers walking up the street.
