Somehow our dear friend over at Just Ramblin seems to think this little blog has “Noteworthy” Archives. I’m really not sure exactly HOW she came to this conclusion, because I have read back through some of my older posts and found that 1) some of them were not that great and 2) I was all over the place for the first couple of months I started blogging!
Good Bye Irene….Day Two Hundred, Seventy Two
Well Irene is gone. We did survive, with lots of downed leaves and some small branches, but no loss of trees and no loss of electricity. We were very blessed because there are still over 400,000 without power in this state. 🙁
We had lots of rain and lots wind from about 5:30 am to 12:00 pm; the dogs never even thought of going outside. They were quite content to lay around and enjoy a lazy day. There was no way they were going out in that rain….unless we were hiking. 😉
It got very calm shortly after noon and I debated whether I should risk it and take them out for a walk. I waited and waited; finally about 3:30 I said, “Let’s go.” I called my walking buddy and we headed out.
The park had lots of leaves and small branches down as well.
Due to all the rain, their favorite ‘puddle’ was back, so they enjoyed a little romp through the water with their pal, Brady.
We wandered the woods for about 45 minutes and then headed home.
Sometime around 7:00 pm the wind came back; with a vengeance. At one point it got so loud, the dogs tore outside to see what the commotion was. I decided it was best not to sleep in our room again, so the dogs and I camped out in the spare room, while Hubby took the scrapbook room.
When we went for our walk today, we found a lot of fallen trees from the evening wind.
We went this way yesterday and these trees weren’t down then.
We didn’t mind, we were grateful to be out enjoying our favorite park, letting the sweet smell of nature wash away the storms of yesterday.
Follow-Up Friday…Day Two Hundred, Sixty Nine
Follow-Up Friday….
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back – Author’s Note
Delilah’s path of destruction has continued this week. She ate a can of Crisco (not the can itself but the shortening inside,) a bag of barbecue pretzels and today she destroyed a can of Salmon Oil.
Yes, I have two lovely spots of oil on the carpets, and the dogs lick them.
She has run off on three separate walks compelling me to pull out the 30 foot leash and keep her on it until we have passed the dangerous spot. The leash severely limits where we can walk, because it has a tendency to get snagged on bushes and trees.
To top it all off, she absolutely REFUSES to sit and remain calm when the food is out for clicker training, she won’t stay down for more than 30 seconds; she either moves to a sitting position or moves her position totally.
She is frustrating me beyond belief and I don’t know what to do. 🙁
