Any of you a Winnie the Pooh fan? When my niece was little she absolutely adored Winnie the Pooh. She’d watch it every morning, and since I was her babysitter, naturally I watched it with her. One of my favorite Pooh stories, was the one where Pooh got stuck in Rabbit’s door after he ate too much honey.
I was reminded of that story one day last week.
We’ve been having some fairly mild weather this past week. I think the little animals are finally coming out of hibernation, at least if my dog’s noses are any indication.
Sampson in particular has been using his nose an awful lot.
I’ve noticed there are a couple of bushes/trees where he pays a lot of attention.
I don’t know what kind of tree/shrub this is, I know it’s some kind of evergreen, but I’m not sure what. It reminds me of a Bonsai tree, because of the way the limbs are bare on the bottom.
Anyway, Sampson was sniffing away at it.
But apparently he couldn’t get quite a good enough sniff to satisfy his nose. So he stepped further into the tree.
By this time, I was starting to get concerned, because it was a really tight squeeze, and with his bad back legs, I was worried he wouldn’t be able to get out of there.
I was thinking about Pooh and picturing myself as Christopher Robin, trying to pull him out of the tree, or having to call the fire department, but it took him only a couple of seconds and he figured it out, and slid his back legs over the lower branch.
And just like that, he was out, none the worse for wear.
I breathed a sigh of relief because I wouldn’t have to call the fire department and tell them my DOG got stuck in a tree, and also because he’s just so darn cute.
You make me smile, or laugh. The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do, that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.
What did your pet do that made you smile this week?

Aw, Sam-man, you had your mama worried there for a minute. π But she’s right – you ARE so darn cute!!

We are impressed the leash didn’t get all tangled up in the tree mess too.

I once had pumpkins growing up a tree, but never a dog lol. Sampy you are such a sweet boy.

Good job, Sampson! We are just starting to get the mild weather now, and Luke was enjoying a lot of sniffing the last few days too. It always surprises me when he stops at the same trees and stumps all the time! It makes me wonder if they aren’t a favorite spot for all the wildlife, or if he’s just checking to be sure no one marked over his mark! π

What, you mean you don’t carry a portable tree saw with you on walks for just that occasion? π

We have done stories about dogs getting stuck up in trees. Sampson is too smart for that,

YOU are ADORABLE!!!!! This week I loved (as I always do) when Cody lays down and “plays dead” waiting for Dakota to walk by…then he totally ambushes him lol
Cupcake says
Good job, S. I have been caught in many tight situations. My strategy is to stand real still till Mom helps me. I’m little enough not to need the fire department….
Love and licks,
Cupcake

All’s well that ends well, right?

Oh that’s so cute! I’m glad you didn’t have to call in reinforcements! We’ve had lots of little critters darting around lately, too, so I’ll have to be careful about the places the girls want to sniff!
