Despite being born the end of July, Sampson has always loved winter. His first winter, he’d often ask to go outside and just sit in the snow. Don’t get me wrong, he does love sunning himself, or stretching out in front of the fire, but give him some brisk Arctic air, and a fresh snow fall, and this guy is in his glory.
We’ve had two snow storms this past week. Last weekend we got about five to six inches of snow, and then Thursday morning we got a few more inches. Friday night we once again had a small dusting.
Which meant that yesterday morning when we headed our for our walk, there was some fresh snow, and Mr. Man was having a ball.
When we have accumulation of more than a couple of inches, potty spots are hard to find. Many times I find myself with my foot against the curb, and the leash at the end of my finger tips, as one of the dogs has climbed the snow to find that premium real estate.
This is especially true for the telephone poles, where apparently many, many dogs leave messages for the others. Which is why Sampson climbed over the curb, and the crusted snow yesterday to read his pee mail, and leave a response of his own. That part of the walk was fine, it was the part where he launched himself OFF the snowbank and into the street that really got my heart racing. Once my heart had settled back into my chest, I smiled, because six months ago, he wouldn’t have been able to do that.
What did your pet do this week that made you smile?
You make me smile, (or laugh). The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that make me laugh or smile.

Mo comes over and wants to sit (I think) on my lap. Then he acts like he can’t get comfortable, so he gets up and turns around like he’s looking for “the spot.” Then he gets off my lap and stares at my thighs. If I don’t catch that clue, he’ll paw at my thigh, which translates to: I would very much like to lay in between your legs! Lol! I think he’s cold. 😢 That makes me smile, it also makes me laugh a little.

Now that Mom has her IceBug shoes, walking on the ice and snow is super fun again. We all love to go deep into the snow. Winter is the most fun time of year for us all, even though I do get cold more than I used to when I was younger.

Suddenly taking flight always brings a smile. I’m happy Sampson is flying again. Mom usually says the word, “GAH!” when I fly. Then she laughs – with relief and disbelief.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Max bounces around the snow like a kangaroo. I’ve always been fascinated how his personality changes in the snow!

The Rs are really jealous of your snow! They both love it like your beautiful boy 🙂

For the first time in many days, Shadow walked almost normally this morning. Her gait is much less stiff. And that makes me smile from ear to ear. It means she’s feeling better.
Glad Sampson is doing so well these days!! I’m kinda jealous over the snow; but glad I don’t have to worry about falling myself while walking Shadow in snow.

The snow we don’t mind but it has been bitter cold here. Like -20F cold. Watching my dogs race back to the house after a pee has made me smile.

Go, Sampson! Cricket stole Luke’s toy the other day….a little payback for all the times he steals hers. I love to see our senior girl go, and it’s especially funny when he tries to get it back and she gives him a snarl (which he always respectfully heeds). 🙂

Gotta love the dexterity when there’s enough real estate between you and the ‘potty mound.’ Enjoy the weather and any you don’t want around, feel free to send back toward the west. I still had perennials blooming 2 days ago! 😲
