If you saw Wednesday’s post, you know that very soon I’ll be going back to work full-time. In my current job, my office is literally right around the corner from my house. It takes me about 5 minutes to get from home to work.
My new job is about 20 miles from home, and with traffic I expect it will take me 20 to 30 minutes. This means I won’t be coming home at lunch to walk the dogs, which means, I’ll have to walk them after work. Thankfully, my new employer has said I can take a short lunch, so hopefully, I’ll be home by 5:00. Even so, time is going to be at a minimum, at least for a bit, while I try to settle into a new rhythm. I’m currently thinking I’ll be loading all your blogs into my iPad and reading and commenting as best I can while on lunch.
SO, BIG question. Is Feedly still the best blog reader for this, or is there something better out there? All thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.
NOW, on to the showcase for this week.
Start-up Costs for a Parakeet by Homekeethome – This was a great post. I had no idea that a parakeet, budgie or any bird required all of the items covered in this post. In my ignorance, I thought you just got a cage and some food….I’m so glad I have you all to help educate me. If you or someone you know is considering adding a bird to the home, please share this post. I promise, they’ll find all the information they need right here!
So What If My Dog Is A Little Chubby by Doggie Wagging Care – Okay, showing my ignorance here again. Once upon a time, I had the notion that I’d rather have my dog fat and happy, even if his lifespan was a wee bit shorter. BUT thankfully, my mindset has changed. The obesity epidemic in this country, both with people and pets is reaching all time highs. When Sampson and Delilah lost all their weight, the vet told me, we literally added two to three years to their lives. SO, if you are looking to help your dog lose weight, check out this post. There are lots of great ideas for treats and various exercises you can do.
Decoding Your Dog With Dognition by Beth at Travels With Barley – Dognition is a like a personality test for your dog. Through a series of games/exercises that you monitor and send in, you get an assessment back that helps you understand how your dog’s mind works. I remember when Beth did this for Barley, and now she’s done it for Rye. Knowing how your dog thinks/reacts can help you tailor your training. It’s a great read.
Of course, I had to have an honorary.
Cookie Cutter Canned Food Dog Treat Recipe, by Jodi Chick at Kol’s Notes – I always say I WANT to bake for my dogs, and truthfully, Jodi makes it SO easy, you really have no excuse. So no more excuses, go check it out, then bake some cookies for your dogs!

I had a parakeet when I was a child, and back then a cage and food is about all you thought you needed! Actually, I exaggerate, I remember we got the cuttle bones and some toys too. 🙂
I think I missed the chubby dog post, so I’m going back to read that. Both of ours are looking a little on the chubby side lately, probably from all the training treats! We’ve been adding more food toppers too so I think I need to count the calories a bit more closely.
Good luck with your new job!

I do most of my catching up with feedly & bloglovin. I have yet to find any services that make it easier than those two to see what’s new. Going to check out your posts now, I have a feeling I’m going to love em (especially the chubby dog one).

I hope you find your new job challenging and rewarding to make the extra commute time worth while. I have a crazy commute (close to 1.5 hours each way), and I find podcasts help me through it.

Big congrats on the new work gig-best of luck! 🍀 As for readers, I use Bloglovin for blogs not on WordPress. It’s easy, and when I’m buried with life, I don’t feel overwhelmed and it’s simple to whip through the feed. More great posts to check out-great finds-thanks for sharing! Happy weekend; hopefully D-Dog doesn’t play any silly pranks on you. 😄

Thanks so much for the feature of Dog Wagging Care. We sure love our pets and want to see them healthy and happy. Our sweet dog Halia is a little over weight too and we are taking steps to get those extra pounds off so she can bless our lives longer. It is so special to join other people who have the same passion for their pets. Happy Tails !!!!

Good luck settling into the new job! I know every semester when my class schedule changes it takes a few weeks for us all to adjust to our new routines, but after that things are back to normal. I hope the process goes quickly for you all, too! Thanks for choosing our post–there were so many that I enjoyed reading. The parakeet post made me miss the birds I had growing up, but then I remembered just how much I hated cleaning the cage and the temporary thought that I should get another bird went right out the window 😉
