I’m going to test long time reader’s memories. Do you remember that Caring For Critters Round Robin that took place back in September of 2014?
For those new to the blog, or those that need a reminder of something that happened 2 1/2 years ago, this blog has a Community Page (located in the teal bar below the header and above the blog post,) or you can just click HERE.
The Round Robin involved a number of bloggers sharing their stories and experiences with medical and behavioral issues they’d experienced with their pets. There is a lot of good information there, but of course, not everything is covered.
There is a lot to learn from reading other people’s blogs, but sometimes, when your in a blind panic trying to figure out a course of treatment for your pet, you can’t always recall who posted about what.
Pet bloggers share a wealth of information. Whether they are entertaining, educating or just sharing experiences, I find I learn so much from all of you. I belong to a number of Pet/Blogger/Pet Blogger pages on Facebook, and when I’m searching for information regarding a health issue one of the dogs has, I stalk those pages. The one thing I haven’t found is a page dedicated to health issues.
Currently, Stone Manor is experiencing a couple of challenging health issues, and while I have reached out to those of you, that I know have dealt with them, I thought it might be nice to have a page just for health/behavioral issues. Do any of you have an interest in such a page?
I plan to write about our issues in depth, it’s just right now, it seems like it’s one thing after another with these two. We’ve had recurring urinary tract infections for both dogs. Sampson has been struggling with his partial CCL tear, and now it seems like the Meniscus might have torn as well. Also, Delilah has lost five pounds in the last six months, and her recent blood tests has our vet thinking she has Inflammatory bowel.
Additionally, after having been on 20 hours of work a week since last July, I just been offered a new job and will be going back to work full-time on April 10th.
SO, what are your thoughts? Does anyone think a page for health would be worthwhile, or are there too many pages?
Inquiring minds want to know…

Sorry the dogs have been having so many issues. Sounds like my house only my mom is the one who has everything going south the past year. We have our paws crossed that trend has ended but we will see. We probably wouldn’t use a page like the one you are talking about. It’s easier to just ask in the community, or we tend to remember things people have posted about. Congratulations on the new job. Hope it is a good fit for you!

I loved the Caring for Critters round robin–the posts I did for that are still some of my most viewed posts even though they are a couple years old! Such a great idea you had–so I’m sure that this new page would be an excellent resource as well. I’m sorry to hear that the pups are having such a rough time lately–my fingers are crossed that everything’s under control for you all soon!

Would love a health page for pets. My 11 year old lab mix Abby is dealing with urinary incontinence that Homeopet “Leaks no more” seems to have helped and I just finished up a bout of diarrhea/vomiting with my 6 month old lab/bully mix Tara.

I, for one, would definitely be interested! And I remember the Caring for Critters round robin quite well. As you know, I’ve had behavioral issues with Ducky from day one. And both she and Ducky have “sensitive stomach” issues – as did Callie.

I think that’s a great idea. It’s so much more worthwhile to be able to find someone who’s been through something, rather than consulting Dr. Google.
So sorry to hear your crew is having such a rough time. 🙁 It seems like everything like that comes in bunches. There have been spells where I’ve felt like I practically lived at the vet’s office. I hope things settle down for you soon, and everyone gets better. xo

IMHO, a health page would be useful. My philosophy is that it is wise to be knowledgeable and prepared, yet I hope that everything works out well. Hurricane season will begin in a few weeks, other areas are already experiencing natural disasters like earthquakes and wild fires … of course disasters can also occur on a more personal level, but it we’re prepared, our stress is reduced and that is always a good thing.
I know this isn’t the sort of post you are talking about, but in case anyone might be interested, these previous posts might be helpful to someone, but I have written various posts covering packing lists, human medicine (and food) pets can use, etc.

I was new to blogging in 2014 so I missed that, but I think it is a great idea. I have 13 cats so we have had lots of health problems. Currently, I have 3 on thyroid meds and one with a rodent ulcer.

Oh yes, think this is a fabulous idea! Having adopted a puppy mill survivor who developed epilepsy, I especially could utilize others experiences and would even be happy to share what I’ve learned. Sign us up!
P.S. Sending lots of poodle pawsitive healing energy for your two kiddos with hope they begin to improve soon. ღ

Because clearly I love seeing my responses doubled. Ugh. Sorry about that, but the sentiment still applies. 🙃
