Thank you for joining me today for the Pet Blogger Showcase.
Today I’ll be sharing three (okay four) of MY favorite posts from the previous Pet Blogger party which took place on August 20th.
You guys are making it super tough for me to settle on only three, so once again this week, I have an honorable mention. Here in no uncertain order, I present my favorite posts from the last Showcase.
Working German Shepherd Dogs, Not Just a Pretty Face a guest post by Mila Sanchez at Animal Bliss.
I love learning about different breeds of dogs and I love reading about the ways dogs are used to help people. I’ve known that the GSD was a working dog, and I know many of the jobs they are trained for, but I’ve never really put it all together. This post did.
Leave It – Teach your dog to NOT eat stuff by Juliet Whitfield at Tails From the Road
It’s so important to teach Leave It to a dog. We taught it to Sampson when he was just a puppy, Delilah was a little harder. If you’re struggling at all in teaching this command to your dog, Juliet has it all written out in easy to follow steps. Trust me, you won’t regret teaching this command to your dog.
Positive Pet Training – Baby Steps Help Our Reactive Dog by Jan Keefe at Wag ‘N Woof Pets
Having a reactive dog myself, I’m always interested in learning how other people work with/manage their dogs. AND since I’ve been following Luke’s story before he even arrived at Casa de Wag ‘N Woof, I love hearing an update. Jan also has some great ideas for managing Luke. It’s a great read.
Honorable Mention
Adopt Me: Jasmine the Terrier/American Staffordshire Mix by Beth Patterson at The Daily Dog Tag
Because who doesn’t love it when a great dog is adopted?

Oh, you’ve picked out some good ones here, but I really enjoyed reading the update on Luke. Haley used to be pretty reactive when she was younger, so I can totally relate to some of Jan’s issues with Luke. There’s something to be said for having a challenging dog though; you really celebrate the growth and milestones along the way. 🙂

Thank you, Elaine! The fact that you say Haley “used to be pretty reactive” gives me hope that we can get Luke through this (because as you probably know, there are days I despair that he will always be this way).

Thank you for selecting our post, it made my Saturday morning!
I agree about how important “leave it” is. We never formally trained it with the girls and I wish we had, though overall they are still good when I tell them “no” in those situations. Luke’s “leave it” is still an ongoing process, but he gets better every day.

That post about Luke was one of my favorites, too! I always think of Luke being Barley’s brother from another mother since they have so many similarities, so it’s always fun to read about him having success! The other posts sound great, too, so we’ll have to check them out.

Great idea! So does that mean this is happening today? I’m pretty sure it’s the 1st Saturday of September!

Some very cool and useful posts here that I hope to incorporate with my knucklehead (i.e. the leave it command since Sam generally tends to view all commands as merely ‘suggestions’). Looks like I’ll be carrying treats with me whenever we go on walks to affect the required behavior modification. 😄

Thanks for showcasing one of our articles on Animal Bliss too! The one about the working German Shepherd Dogs. So fun. Take care!
