You make me laugh (or smile), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.
Sampson, when I find you cuddling with a baby doll…
You make me laugh.
Confession time. I have a baby doll. And I bought it for myself last Christmas. Sampson is cuddling with my doll, Hazel.
Back story. When I was shopping for Christmas gifts this past Christmas, I turned a down an aisle in Toys R Us, and I saw this beautiful baby doll with huge eyes staring back at me.
I immediately went back 40 plus years, to a doll I had as a little girl. She was my absolute favorite doll, and I loved her to pieces and slept with her all the time.
Sadly after a number of moves, my baby doll, which was made of a rubbery type material must have spent too long in the attic. When I unpacked her, she was melted and deformed and I threw her out.
So when I turned that corner, and saw this doll, that reminded me SO much of my original doll, I did something very unusual for me. I bought myself a gift.
Hazel doesn’t sit on a shelf, she sits on my bed…and… she sleeps with me.
DOG it feels good to get that off my chest. At first I was afraid to say anything, but you know what? I’m not hurting anyone, and people can laugh if they want, but it makes me happy and I deserve to be happy and so do you!
So go find yourself a doll, or a stuffed animal and cuddle up with it like Sampson and I do. I bet it makes you happy.
And you might just catch your dog cuddled up with it. ;-D

Mom still has her first doll upstairs in the closet so no one can hurt her. She not in the best shape, but she is still loved. My mom slept mostly with stuffed animals until she was 7 and got her first cat. Since that time, she sleeps with real animals in bed. No shame for sleeping with a doll, why not?

Hey, ya gotta do what makes you happy! I’m all for letting that child inside of us out on a regular basis!! I get down on the floor with Shadow and Ducky every now and then – more like at least once a day – and I’m not the least bit ashamed! I’m just glad that my knees still let me do it! 😂 Like Emma’s mom, I slept with stuffed animals as a child. And our poodles slept on my parents’ bed. If Ducky ever grows out of her sheet-chewing stage, I might let her sleep on the bed with me. When Callie and Shadow started sleeping thru the night without accidents, I let them sleep on the bed with me. Unfortunately, her knee doesn’t let Shadow do much jumping up on the bed any more. Except during thunderstorms.

I have a bear, that I have to keep from the pups because they would destroy it. They both like to cuddle with toys, especially Hailey.

I was not as big into dolls, but I still love stuffed animals! Of course, I can’t keep any of those on the bed though, the crew wouldn’t be as nice to them as Sampson is being to your doll. I have a couple up on a shelf and Cricket used to stare and whine at one of them all of the time!

i have a teddy bear and a special blanket that i keep on my bed. i have aways enjoyed coloring and now that there are coloring books for adults i have rediscovered the joy.
thanks for sharing with all of your friends here. that doll was ment to come home with you. as for it being unusual to buy a gift for yourself this friend asks that you please work on that.
over the past three years i have bought a total of ten p.j. shorts in different patterns. wearing them makes me happy.
yes they are practical and will last a long time but its the different patterns and how comfy they are that every night brings a smile to my face. a gift to myself. got off track but just wanted to share that buying a gift for yourself, that of the doll was part of the joy. you are still experiencing that joy of the doll. not sure if i’m explaining myself very well. hoping you don’t mind that i got alittle personal.

p.s. love how Samson chose to cuddle with the doll over his kong toy laying nearby. such a sweet boy. really shows his gentle spirit.

Very cute that your boy sneaks hugs with the doll. He must be very self-assured and not afraid the other boy dogs would make fun of him. “Metrosexual” dogs are like that. Not sure I could do that since I never was much into dolls as a kid. Offer me a bat, glove or some other outside toy and then pencil me in. That or another pup and I’ll be down with the whole ‘hug-city’ thing. To each his own, right? 😉

Now you need to get Sampson his very own doll. 🙂
