Every once in a while I’m reminded that the real reason I blog is for the connections I make with people and the sense of community that revolves around this blog.
When I wrote the post The Most Important Question You Can Ask Your Vet and asked YOU for your thoughts and suggestions to share with Alexa on her dog (Lily’s vet visit,) you more than rose to the occasion.
If you recall, we asked Alexa to update us after Lily’s visit and Alexa did. Lily’s vet visit was on Monday and I was reminded again what amazing friends I have when Alexa came back and left this comment:
LILY’S VET Visit UPDATE
Overall her visit went well. They were even able to get a pee sample.
She has been doing so much better now that summer has arrived. Lily has been going to this vet since she was a puppy so they know her very well.
In addition to the fish oil capsule we have been giving her daily since about April we are to start her on Glucosamine daily.
During the times we were waiting for the day of her vet apt. telling myself not to worry so lily wouldn’t pick up on my feelings I realized something that has changed my outlook and feelings about her aging process. Lily has been with us since she was just a tiny puppy. She knows she is loved and cared for. Being here for her during this phase of her life is a blessing because we can be there to help her through it and doing all we can to help her through it. What ever happens she knows she won’t be going through it alone. That we know her well enough to a. notice when something is off b. to hear her when she is letting us know something. For example shorter walks. Sure there is still grief esp. when she is having a rough day and we can’t wish it away for her but being here for her is a blessing that I’m so thankful to have realized now. I’ve shared this with my husband and it’s helped us both so much.
Thank you for the informative article and for taking the time to do so. Your caring to do so was definitely not taken for granted.
Thank you to all of you that took the time to comment and the info shared.
I felt hugged and a sense of calmness that I believe helped me to realized the different way to look at the aging process.
I don’t know about you, but this comment brings tears to my eyes. First because Alexa verbalizes for me what a blessing it is to be able to be there with our pets, even when things are tough. I’m so grateful that I have options to help my dogs with medical or old age related issues. Second, I’m thrilled that our little community helped Alexa feel better.
Alexa, thank you SO much for coming back and updating us on Lily. I was thinking of you both on Monday and am so thrilled that there are things you can do to help Lily feel better.
A BIG thank you to all of you, first for reading and second for caring, you make this crazy world of blogging a whole lot easier.

Yes, that did bring tears to my eyes as well. What a wonderful community this is!
It is a blessing to be able to be here for pets through the tough times. As much as it’s difficult to see them aging and having issues, it’s far better than losing them at a young age. We lost three dogs at young ages (5, 6, & 8), so being able to help Kobi through his old age was truly a blessing, and both girls now too.

One of the things I love about blogging is being able to connect with other dog owners who are as crazy about their pets and their well being as we are. Lily’s story made me smile.

I’m so glad that Alexa was able to get the comfort and support she needed! It’s never easy watching our pets age, but it’s a little easier knowing what a great support system we have!

I am so blessed to have been there 24/7 for my GSD Princess who had DM. I helped her in every way possible and gave her 24hr care towards the end. My baby is running in paradise now, miss her more than words can say, 2/9/2016. I’ll love you forever

I’m afraid many of my real life friends think I am a little balmy with four dogs to look after. I’m glad to have my online balmy friends who get me

We love having you in this community! Glad you found something that works for her pills. If you are looking for something a bit smaller, I have great luck with Liverwurst. You can slice it thin and wrap it around the pills. 🙂
