You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, loving, funny things my dogs do on a daily basis that brings a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.
Sampson, the way you only run so far ahead of me on our walks, then sit down and wait for me…
You make me smile.
In this particular instance, I was picking up a package Delilah had left and I looked up and Sampson was just sitting there waiting. I couldn’t help but smile.
Do your pets wait, or do they run ahead?
Lauren Miller (ZoePhee) says
He is so cute! Mine run circles around me! They come back when I whistle and then take off again. People always ask me where they are and I say, “WAIT FOR IT!!!” and then they pop up. It’s so funny!
Paved by Paw Prints says
That’s such a cute little habit! Cody just waits 🙂
Cupcake says
I’m a leash dog. I never run ahead. But trust me – I would if I could. The waiting part would be a crap shoot.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

We are on leash, but we like to get way our front and then turn back to see what is holding Mom up!
Jan K says
That is so cute that he sits there! Sheba is the only one ever allowed off leash, and she usually runs ahead. I’ll keep calling her back to me, so she runs back and forth a lot!
Hailey and Zaphod says
Hailey has to be on leash as she would run way to far away. Phod never goes to far, and if he thinks he is too far, he comes back.

What a good boy to wait for you. Off leash my guys mostly forget I’m the pack leader. They become feral until I call their names.
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
My 3 would take off in 3 different directions, even with leashes attached! But, at some point Shadow and Ducky would be looking for me. Callie? As independent as she is most of the time, I’m not so sure.
Jen Gabbard says
Aw that’s so sweet, he looks so chill. Laika will run ahead but instead of sitting she turns around & silently barks at me. I have no idea what that is about, dogs are weird.

Awww thats so cool!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Jackie Bouchard says
We don’t do off-leash anymore but we used to do that all the time at the dog beach/bay with Abby and she would usually turn around and wait for me. Of coursse, she was also three-legged so need to rest! 🙂
He’s so sweet. That’s a really cute pic!
Karen Dibert says
Louie is the same! He’ll run ahead, then stop and look back as if to say, “are you even coming?” Margo, on the other hand, will keep running to find the end of the earth. She can’t be off leash.
2 Brown Dawgs says
He is so patient!
Clowie says
I’m always on the lead, so you can probably guess what I do! I only get let off the lead where there are limited exits for me. I think it would make my bipeds smile to see me waiting for them like Sampson.
I do look back if I run out of lead because they’re not keeping up!
Sand Spring Chesapeakes says
what a good boy waiting instead of wandering off.
Plamen Ivanov says
This is a lovely dog. It’s so cute.. and ready to play with! 🙂

Kilo the Pug can not go off leash yet. He loves walking just ahead of me on his leash, sniffing everything as long as we stay near our house. If I take him down near the park, his tail goes down and he pulls to get home like a freight train. On four occasions over the last 11 months, he has managed to escape out the front door. Three times, he shot off like a bullet a short distance down the street and cornered different neighbours – luckily he did not land any bites and I could catch him quickly- but terrifying. One time, he did not see anyone in attack/defence range- so he ran down the street to the edge of his territory then bolted back to me at full speed and sat as though nothing was up. We have been working on it, but he still has no recall if excited or stressed, and it does not take much for him to lose control
