Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the post where I highlight awesome comments, answer reader’s questions and generally just wrap up my week.
You Make Me Smile – July 5, 2015
Emma said, “Lots of us are nervous around those walker thingys as the people who use us seem to have a knack for running over dogs with them. I would sleep with one eye open around one too.”
This Grandma is very good about watching for four-leggers, (Sampson and Delilah trained her well.) Delilah’s eyes are open because she heard the phone snap on. LOL
Jan said, “She just needs a little metal cage to protect herself from any evil forces that might crop up when she is out of her comfort zone. I love the eyes.”
It has taken her a very long time to feel comfortable at Grandma’s, I was so proud of her and wanted to snap a photo, but she heard the camera app turn on. 🙁
Jan K said, “Even our beagle Kobi was restless when we went to other people’s houses, and he was our most easy going dog. I don’t think he liked being away from his food, and worried we wouldn’t get home in time for his next meal.:-)”
LOL You have to love a dog that loves his food!
Jen Gabbard said, “It’s amazing to me how long it can take dogs to finally settle in and relax. ”
It is surprising. Some dogs seem to do it with ease, while others struggle. I think her inability to relax stems from whatever went on with her before she came to us. I’m glad she’s finally doing it, just sad it’s taken so long.
Phew, I don’t feel so bad. Almost every one of you has lost their dog or cat in their house at some point. Some of the stories are hysterical so I recommend you go back and read those comments!
Paved by Paw Prints said, “When I started reading your post, I was like ‘oh no, please have a happy ending!’ ”
I’m sorry, I should have begun the post letting you know he was okay.
Lauren Miller (ZoePhee) asked, “What is it with husbands that go, “What do you mean X is lost? Are you sure?” ”
No idea. Like we wouldn’t have looked everywhere we could possibly look before involving them!
Jen Gabbard asked, “Well your mothers dog is certainly living the good life now, isn’t he?”
He sure seems to be. LOL
Lauranne said, “I have done it more times than I care to admit. It’s awful isn’t it! It’s when you check the usual spots, and they aren’t there so you check them again, and again! Each time feeling the panic rising!”
The first time through I thought I must have missed him, then I thought he’d slipped outside while I wasn’t looking, then I panicked. It’s a terrible feeling.
Monika said, “Totally and more than once. I laughed out loud throughout your entire post because I have been there, done that, bought the tee-shirt to prove it. ”
Oh my. I’m so glad I’m not the only one.
Jenna, Mark “HuskyCrazed” Drady said, “That reminds me of a time when my hubby was driving home, and he called me. He had asked if my one dog Koda was here, I said ummm yea, duh, of course he is here, where else would he be? He said because I swear I just saw him walking around with some guy. I literally had to get up and look for him because I didn’t see him laying where he usually does. Luckily he was laying out in front of the air conditioner, but it did scare me for a moment hahaha!”
Nothing worse than that is there? Your story reminded me of a story from when I was a kid. My mom had this orange cat named Thomas. She absolutely adored this cat. Well one day my father called her from wherever he was to tell her that the cat had been hit by a car and killed. He told her he had buried Thomas in the backyard.
My mother looked over at her sleeping cat and had to tell my father that he had buried someone else’s cat in our backyard!
Pamela said, “It’s always the good ones that get you the most scared. Because when they disappear, you know it’s gotta be something terrible.”
My mind automatically thought he was hurt somewhere. Or worse.
Elaine said, “Oh my gosh, that’s kind of like when you put your purse somewhere different in the car than you normally do and suddenly you panic thinking that you left it somewhere, lol!”
Oh yeah! Or you put your credit/debit card in the wrong place and freak out thinking someone will be raiding your accounts.
2 Brown Dawgs said, “I haven’t lost the dog in the house, but one morning (I think it was a Saturday) I got up and did my normal morning stuff. Eventually I noticed no Thunder. Thunder Thunder where could he be? I called hubby. He decided to take him to work with him and left before I got up. Yes there was momentary panic.”
HOLY SMACK! I think I would have freaked out! Did he not even leave a note?
Lauren Miller (ZoePhee) asked, “So what happened next!?! I’m dying to know if you were able to get the special present and get away!”
Callie, Shadow and Ducky’s Mom asked, “So, how DID you manage to clean up after Sampson with him, Delilah, and the “fuggin’ cat” all ready to lunge at any moment?”
I’m sorry you guys! I shouldn’t have left you hanging like that. I ended up getting them both to sit, told them to stay, picked up the ‘goodies’ and then took out the camera. And would you believe that Fuggin’ Cat that stared down my dogs, couldn’t be bothered to even look at the camera? LOL
Lauranne said, “Mity used to love cats, he wanted to be their friends and would try and lick them. One day he rounded a corner and a cat was sat there. He licked the cat. The cat just had a WTF look on it’s face, while Mity continued happily on his walk. It was soooo funny!”
OH MY GOD. I laughed so hard when I read this. I can only imagine the look on the cat’s face!
Jan K said, “I ass-ume everything came out OK? Sorry, couldn’t help myself.”
There’s one in every crowd. 😉 LOL yes, everything came out just fine!
Well folks, that’s it for me. Have a great weekend!
Lauren Miller (ZoePhee) says
LOL! Too funny! Cats are such jerks!
Emma says
We have to sit and stay when Mom scoops too no matter if squirrels or wabbits are around. Thinking about the walker thing, they actually used that in our CGC test to see if we were comfortable around it or would run away.
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
Love that Jan K! She and I must be “sistas from a different mista” cuz we think so much alike. 🙂
Great follow-up, as always!
Cupcake says
I wish I had a grandma to visit in my building. Grandmas seem fun. Plus scaring Mom is always fun.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Great follow up! Have a great weekend.

Those cats were put on earth to torment dogs! We always have a few stalkers on our walks, though fortunately not yet when anyone’s been in the midst of a poop.
Plamen says
Looks like a good follow up! 🙂
