You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis that brings a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.
Delilah the way your nose knows
where all the chippies hiding spots are…
and the fact you inspect them thoroughly….
You make me smile.
Do your dogs know where all the wild critters hide in your yard? Do they track them like Delilah does?
Lauren Miller (ZoePhee) says
LOL! That’s so funny! Look at her looking for critter! Yes, my dogs are crazy about looking for critters. Last night Phoenix spent a lot of time in the bushes looking for critters. She came out eventually though! It’s funny because they always look so pleased with themselves!

I search like crazy, but never find anything and can’t remember where I searched an hour later…. The world is a puzzle to me. Delilah is my idol!
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Delilah would probably love vole hunting with Rudy and Rosie. Maybe she could come for a little vole vacay?

We have a dumb bunny that nests under our deck. My boys can often be found with their heads wedged under the steps trying to get a good whiff. Our deck is low to the ground so even for a corgi, there’s not much room under there. When the dumb bunny had her babies, Jimmy did manage to do a military crawl to check it out. Unfortunately those babies never made it out of the yard 🙁 Building your nest where it is guarded by two fast moving dogs is not very bright.

We check under every pine tree we see because we know wabbits like to live under them.

Alas we no longer have other living creatures any where near our yard.

Your such a good sniffer outter. Gambler can sniff out chippies also, he sticks his nose in the hole blows snorts and then digs the bastard out. MK got a baby chippy this am. She was pretty proud.

Gus will bolt out the back door after squirrels, but lizards on the shed are his favorite, as well as any critters under the shed. The first thing he does in the morning is find a trail or two where some little animal has crisscrossed the yard. Keeps him happy!
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
Ducky doesn’t track the squirrels, she stalks them! She would wait for them at the base of the oak tree all day long if I let her. 🙂
Jan K says
These guys always stick their noses in any holes they see when we’re out walking, and I’m forever telling them they should be careful about that. I worry about what might be in the holes!
Jen says
They sure do! It’s fun to watch!
Pamela says
Delilah should give some critter spotting lessons to Honey. Sometimes I see them before she does.
BTW, what does Delilah do with the critters when she flushes them out? Is she a chaser? Does she have a killer instinct? And what is Sampson doing while all this is going on?
Monika says
Oh my lord, does he ever! If a fox, raccoon or cat has been within 10 ft. of him, Sam’s nose is down checking it out and he trys to sniff all the odor left behind. It usually comes when we’re moving at a nice clip and all of a sudden my shoulder gets yanked out of its socket because Doofas has suddenly stopped to investigate a spot. Sheesh, sometimes I think he should have been named CSI! 😉

Good job sniffing things out Delilah!

My 9 month-old puppy is quite the tracker of little critters too.

Laika always tends to find vole hideouts in the yard with pretty good accuracy; she nose dives right into the ground knowing that it’s soft.
One of my favorite stories is from someone elses dog: They were walking their dog in the neighborhood and as they passed a storage drain they hears some “mews.” There was a little kitty stuck in there and with the help of some neighbors they got him out. Ever since that day her dog stops to look in all storm drains – it’s been years.
