Follow-Up Friday – May 1, 2015

May 1, 2015 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the post where I highlight awesome comments, answer reader’s questions and generally just wrap up my week.

You Make Me Smile – April 26, 2015

FRANKly and ERNESTly Speaking said, “Grandma must LOVE it TOO !!!”

Yes, Grandma does love it, in fact I don’t know which one of them loves it more!

Jan said, “My dogs are like Sampson, they just can’t get enough humans in their pack. I think if burglars broke in they would lick them, wag their tails, and show them where the family silver is kept.”

OMG I say that about Sampson too. I can hear him, “Excuse me, but before you rob us blind, would you mind a nice tummy rub?” LOL

Sock Puppy

Dogs in socks

Really Mama, it’s just a sock.

Cupcake Speaks said, “DAMN cute! For sure. Cutest dog ever in the cutest sock ever! Hang in there, buddy. Sock beats cone by a mile! ”

Ain’t that the truth! I bet if you asked him he’d tell you the same thing!

My GBGV Life said, “The facial expression says it all! Katie is the only one of us who has had to wear a sock, but she is white, so Mom always put white socks on her, no fun patterns.”

I picked up a pack of six socks for like $6, I can’t imagine how dirty the white socks would get. 🙂

Beth said, “He’s definitely adorable in those socks. I had to put some on Barley earlier this year to keep her from licking her paw cream (just because the licking was making me crazy), but she kept flinging them off–baby socks is a genius idea!”

It still needs some modifications but in general it is much easier than an adult sock!

Cindy Lu’s Muse said, “He is absolutely adorable in that sock – what a lovey! Get well fast, and NO LICKING, Sampson!”

He was very good, he attempted to lick it a couple of times immediately after the bandage came off and after that he just left it alone.

Elaine said, “Yes! He is damn cute and I love the striped sock! When I did this for Haley, it was really fun picking out the socks.”

Yes, I can see why people like dressing up their pets. 😉

Blueberry’s Human said, “That is too stinking cute! You know, a few times, I’ve seen toddler socks in the middle of the desert on our hikes and wondered how they got there. Now I know – it was probably a dog!”

I had never really given it much thought before he had to wear it.  At first I was trying makeshift socks and he did lose one. I found it the next day. 🙂

2 Brown Dawgs asked, “Did you update your version of WordPress? They released a patch. 🙂 The sock is cute. Is he going to have to wear the cone of shame?”

I did not know about the patch, thank you for sharing. Yes I did indeed do the update. As for the cone, he was very good and I didn’t have to use it!

The Neighborhood Wave

Sand Spring Chesapeakes said, ” I didn’t know about the jeep wave until I rode with my friend in her new jeep in Feb and she waved to another jeep owner and said that is what you do.

Hubby says it has something to do with a big jeep rally that is held every year, I don’t know for sure.

Mary said, “When we had our Harleys we always got, and gave the Harley wave. Similar to the jeep wave.”

I didn’t know they had their own wave either!

FRANKly and ERNESTly Speaking said, “Since WE have Jessie Jeep… we guess we gotta tell mom about that special Jeep Wave.”

So mom doesn’t know about it? Do jeep peeps in your area not wave at each other?

Monika said, “As I get older I notice younger people have the social skills of trolls.”

BOL it’s because their heads are buried in electronics with no real social interactions!

Blueberry’s Human said, “I like to wave with one of B’s full poop bags. Defecation salutation. It serves two purposes – 1) I clean up after my dog and 2) I am friendly. Pow.”

Bwa ha ha, defecation salutation a.k.a. the shit salute! I gave it yesterday, stuck two fingers out like a peace sign and waved the poop bag. 😉

Leah said, “There’s the motorcycle wave – similar to Jeep’s except the waver’s hand hangs down palm forward, almost as if ready to clap a low “give me 5″ with another rider. ”

Sometimes the jeep wave is also down low, it depends on whether the doors are on or off. 😉

Jackie Bouchard said, “At both places, when we moved in, no one came to welcome us to the ‘hood. ”

We had one neighbor introduce herself right away and we did meet the people on the other side of us, but the ones across the street? Nope not a one came by. I hope the next neighborhood is a little more friendly and has a few less Dumb Ass Dog Owners.

Clowie said, “There’s one very special neighbour who, instead of waving, puts her hand into her treat pocket when she sees me (she has my bipeds’ permission) – that’s the very best type of greeting!

Now that’s the way to greet a dog!

Beth said, “My signature wave is the Girl Scout’s Honor. I usually have a few treats in my right hand and Barley’s leash in the left, so I can only manage to get a few fingers up in a wave while still keeping the treats secured in my palm.”

Hickory Dickory Dee

Delilah likes chasing cats

.

Lauren Miller said, “That’s a hilarious poem and I did giggle at your photo of Delilah!! 😀 I’m glad the kitty got down!”

Thanks and I’m glad the kitty got down too, I was pretty worried.

Repoleon says, “My lab mix is afraid of cats, so he would be the one trying to escape. The neighborhood cats seem to know this. It’s a little embarrassing. 🙂

Oh my, poor guy, is there a reason he’s afraid?

Slimdoggy said, “Jack says well done Delilah! He would have been filled with glee too!”

Whoo hoo, Delilah got the Slimdoggy Jack seal of approval!

Elaine said, “I’m glad the kitty made it down on its own and we won’t be reading a post titled “Why I Fell Out of a Tree”. 🙂

Ha ha ha valid point.

One Person’s View asked, “First of all, why do you even have cat food in your house?!”

In case Delilah trees a cat of course. 😉 No really, I had bought the food when I made the styrofoam cat house for the cat near my work.

Hailey and Zaphod said, “Hailey would have been glued to the bottom of the tree forever if she treed a cat!”

We had to call Delilah away and keep a tight rein on her when she went out. Otherwise she would have been standing next to me trying to figure out how to get up that tree. 🙂

That’s it for me folks, have a great weekend!

The white socks didn’t last long enough to even make it to the laundry! Socks are just not made for dog paws on walks!

Great follow up. Hope Sampsons toenail is healed up. As for coming into heat yes you are correct dogs come in twice a year. Glory came in a little early I wasn’t expecting it until the middle of May or June but this timing is great. If she gets prego now she will still be able to go to canada in the fall. 🙂 have a great weekend.
