Happy St. Patrick’s day everyone!
Here in the Stone house, St. P day (as I like to call it) is a highly celebrated holiday. Yes, we are Irish, as my great grandparents immigrated from Portadown Ireland in the early 1900’s.
Green is really not my color, so while I don’t wear the color, I have a couple of accessories I like to use.
One is this hat, isn’t it adorable? I’ve had it for as long as I can remember.
The other are these furry leprechaun ears, except I can’t wear them for too long because they make my ears hot and itchy.
Of course no St. Patrick’s day would be complete without our traditional Irish meal. Last night I attempted a gluten-free soda bread and naturally the corned beef and cabbage will be bubbling away.
For me the best part is the left-over corned beef, because that means sometime this week, Hubby will be making his corned beef hash and we will have it for either breakfast or dinner.
That is as long as Delilah doesn’t get it.
About seven years ago Delilah got the left over corned beef.
The dogs had been at daycare all day and I had picked them up on my way home. Hubby has gotten home earlier and ground up the corned beef. He had it on a plate sitting on the counter.
The dogs and I came in the door and Hubby and I were standing at the dining room table and Hubby was telling me something when all of a sudden I said, “What’s that noise?”
“Shit, the corned-beef!” Hubby said.
We both rushed into the kitchen and sure enough, there was Delilah paws on the counter polishing off our dinner.
I quickly grabbed Delilah and put her in her crate before Hubby considered eating Delilah for dinner.
Rest assured, we take great care in safe-guarding our food these days. Especially the corned beef.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us at Heart Like a Dog.

Oh Delilah!! LOL!!! That’s too funny. My husband made corn beef and cabbage but I don’t like it (the smell makes me gag) I ended up having a sirloin. Zoe and Phoenix really wanted some of his corn beef!! They didn’t get any this time, though. This year I got really festive and dressed them up and made a trick video.

LOL Sampson and Delilah look about as happy with their holiday accessories as the brown dawgs do. Enjoy your meal and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you.

“…paws on the counter…” is my favorite word. I can’t wait till I grow big enough to steal corned beef from the counter. I wonder how much longer it’ll take. I’m 8!
Love and licks and happy St. P. Day,
Cupcake

I remember you talking about hubby’s corned beef hash last year — just thinking about it is making me hungry! The hat and leprechaun ears are cute, but I couldn’t wear them either. Sampson and Delilah don’t look too pleased about the hat. Sampson looks like he’s trying to claw his way out of a hole in the ears photo. LOL
Happy St. P Day to ya, Lass! And to the pups, too!

And why am I’m not the slightest bit surprised by the devoured corned beef story by one Ms. D-Dog? BOL, she surely must have been a starving waif in a previous life and keeps going back there whenever she sees a tasty (or otherwise) treat. Love the festive accessories, especially on the pups. From one laddy & lassie to you and yours ‘erin go braugh.’ 🙂

Happy St. Patty’s day, and enjoy your corned beef and cabbage! My hubby is Irish, but somehow he doesn’t like that meal, so we don’t have it. I love it myself, and the leftovers made into hash sounds awesome.
I think the hat is adorable!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you. Nothing is as disappointing as not getting to eat something you had looked forward to. I would ask what Delilah learned from this experience but I am afraid I know the answer.

Wishing you a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day.

I sure do hope you got some treats for all that modeling!
Love the story of the corned beef. Isn’t it fun how stories like that become hilarious years later? We still have a superglued-together bowl that our first dog swiped off the counter to eat all the potato salad from it while we weren’t paying attention. We cherish the bowl and the memory we have of it!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!

Happy belated St. P’s Day!
I’m not much of a corned beef fan. I remember dreading it when my mom served it. And then there were always leftovers. She’d make us corned beef sandwiches for school. I already had trouble making friends in my youth, so the corned beef sandwiches and at times, kidney sandwiches – really didn’t help much in that department.
