For those of you who’ve raised a puppy, you know potty training is at the top of the list.
Sampson was a good puppy. My memory says he was very easy to train, yes he tinkled in the house a LOT, but he only pooped once. If I recall we had him trained within a month to six weeks.
One of the more important things I remember about potty training a puppy is to watch your puppy for signs they have to potty. For Sampson his poop sign is getting as far away from you as he possibly can.
This is kind of difficult when he’s attached to you by a six foot leash.
Of course, this time of year he’s really impeded by the snow. A sure sign Sampson is going to poop is when he starts climbing the snow banks.
The snow along the sides of the road is still fairly deep. He climbs into the snow bank and he’s sinking up to his chest in snow.
I didn’t figure it out at first, I just kept laughing at him and calling him a doofus. Of course, I also was a little concerned about injury, I worry he’ll slip the wrong way and damage his other leg.
When he finally squatted and the poop rolled into the street, I figured it out. The next time he climbed the bank I tried reasoning with him. Come on buddy, let’s just go home, it’s only 30 steps away.
Apparently he doesn’t understand that.
Either that, or he just doesn’t give a…
Well that saying won’t work here.
Delilah on the other hand, will go wherever and whenever the mood strikes her. And she gives no warning signs.
You’re walking along, then she stops and poops.
She has pretty good aim too.
Yesterday she had a hole in one.
Yup, that’s a paw print right there. She got the whole poop right inside that one paw print.
Maybe I should sign her up for golf lessons.

We prefer pooping in the snow, but the first snow of the year always confuses us and we can’t figure out where to go. Now in the spring we search for that one last spot of snow to poop on. Mom says we are just weird, but all of us do the same thing, year in, year out. Nice hole in one, but digging it out of the hole is no fun says the Mom.
LOL! Hilarious.
Cute! Callie is a bit like Delilah in that she will just stop wherever she happens to be when the urge hits; but once she starts, it usually takes a few steps in every direction to unload it all. I think it’s because of the arthritis in her hips. Shadow and Ducky make a dance out of it – walking in circles until it makes ME dizzy.
Hahahahahahahaha!
That dog of yours…….LOL
It’s good to have a camera around for these memorable moments. My dog came to me trained, which made me very happy, and he prefers to poop on nature– grass, snow– rather than concrete. But anything will do in an emergency. 🙂
Haha that was darn good aim! Daisy’s like Delilah, she just stops mid-stride and assumes the poop position…even if it’s in the middle of a busy sidewalk with lots of people around, causing a multi-person pile-up and a lot of angry faces. I’m running out of ways to apologize!
BOL! Yes, I can totally see you caddying for the lovely Ms. D. 🙂 Sam makes sure to take a dump in the worst places so I have to spend precious time stooped over trying to fish it out between the grass & the sidewalk or to make sure it’s completely picked up because he did it at the base of the steps from the sidewalk to the front door (I honestly do not know why the heck that hound poops in front of peoples sidewalks going to their doors! Gah). It’s as though he’s saying I know you’re in there slackers, you never shovel your walks so I’m leaving you a present. Take that! 🙂
We can’t believe you guys still have snow!
Woofs from Earl, Ethel and I at Earl’s World!
I love it. Like a golfer she has a handicap pooper.
Oh man, mine are doing that all the time around the yard! I have a rake and scoop for picking it up around the yard, and do you know how difficult it is to dig it out of a hole like that? Especially since some of the holes are all iced up. I am so ready for spring.
Too funny. Love “that saying won’t work here”. Lol
I seem to always have one of each kind of dog too…the complicated poopers and the easy poopers. Though it’s all relative; Fozzie was the easy one back when I had Lamar, but Dahlia is even easier than he is 🙂
She doesn’t top Delilah’s hole in one though; that definitely wins a pooper prize. The snow bank is pretty awesome too 🙂
Yes finally some good clean turds! (not like the neighbors gross turds). Way to go Delilah did you go get a lottery ticket?
Wow! She has great aim!
LOL that Delilah is sure talented!
That Delilah has mad pooping skills!
