Friday night I was having a conversation with one of my vets regarding Delilah’s liver levels. Despite the seriousness of the conversation Dr. Atz and I had a good laugh.
I had said something along the lines of this dog eats anything…stuff in the road, things in the yard, any food that drops to the floor. And Dr. Atz laughed and said, “So Delilah’s probably getting coal in her stocking this year?” I laughed along with him and said, Delilah is definitely getting coal in her stocking.
Except she won’t.
I know, I know. This is the same dog that ate the entire box of packing peanuts, the box of bisquick, baking chocolate, supplements, raisins, dog poop, a pound of corned beef, destroyed a can of Salmon oil, two Misto bottles and that’s where my memory fails me.
But if you look beyond that, she’s a very sweet, loving dog. The way she mimics Sampson to get the attention she wants, the way she insists she’s a lap dog, despite the fact that she refuses to curl up on your lap, the way she shoves her head between your legs in order to feel safe, all of these sweet and loving things outweigh all the naughty, taxing, challenging behaviors.
Besides, she’d probably eat the coal and who can afford THAT vet bill?
Tune in tomorrow for the 12 Days of Christmas Delilah style.

The cute and sweet outweighs the naughty!

I’m happy Santa has come to his senses. Delilah has WAY more pluses than minuses. Plus, coal sounds delicious…..
Love and licks,
Cupcake
2 Brown Dawgs says
LOL silly sweet Delilah. Of course she won’t get coal.
Lauranne says
I always thought charcoal was ok for a dog? Don’t you get charcoal biscuits??
Emma says
She is like Bailie and is not doing anything to be bad on purpose. She is just enjoying life and some dogs don’t see the problem with a bit of naughtiness. It also creates lots of material to write about!
Sand Spring Chesapeakes says
Oh good, no coal, if she doesn’t get coal then neither does Gman. Gotta love them! Have a great day.
Mary says
Well of course she won’t get coal. You love her despite it all.
Maggie says
Bwhaha! She probably would eat the coal! Too funny! 🙂
Two French Bulldogs says
Hilarious. Your stomach must be made of stone.

It's Dog or Nothing says
We definitely wouldn’t want her eating the coal! 😉 I joke that Atka is getting coal for Christmas too. Although, he knows that isn’t true because he knocked his stocking off the wall and unwrapped some of his gifts. Sigh.
Monika says
BOL, love it. Yup, sometimes (especially at this time of year) all you can say is ‘Feliz Naughty Dog’ and smile and love her to pieces! Besides, who could refuse a nice brown lap robe like that? 🙂
jan says
That is the best reason of all not to give her coal for Christmas.
Frankie and Ernie says
OK….. have you EVER heard this one…??? THAT sounds like a HOG crunching Coal???
Well in these parts folks actually used to FEED their hogs coal… to keep them from getting Worms… SERIOUSLY… SO… Delilah … if you DO get Coal in your Stocking (which we doubt) go ahead and CRUNCH to your hearts content… and call it a PREVENTATIVE measure… Just sayin.
Jan K says
Oh, I know you would never put coal in Delilah’s stocking! I feel the same way about Luke…any naughtiness is more than made up for by his sweet loving nature and all the affection he gives us. Besides, who can resist those cute faces?
