I’m not one for Horror movies, I have never watched Friday the 13th, or Halloween, The scariest I go is “The Mummy” with Billy Zane, I can’t be scared of Billy Zane. And really don’t you think my poor little adrenals deal with enough in my life? LOL
But I have been watching the television show Sleepy Hollow. The rational part of my mind understands it’s a TV show, but the imaginative writing side of my mind can sometimes get carried away.
Howl-o-ween isn’t the only scary day for dog walking. Especially if you live in my neighborhood.
You see, we have these birds. Effing birds! They sit and watch you. They follow you. They jeer at you. “Caw, Caw” Eff you birds, go away!!
Creepy little fuckers, aren’t they?
This time of year can be especially scary for dog walkers, let’s face it at least one of your daily walks is more than likely to take place….in the dark.
And yes, I carry a flashlight, and yes I have a light on my hat, but that really doesn’t make me feel much better because:
- Eyes are not the only things that glow in the dark.
- At 6:00 am wind chimes can sound eerily like the Pied Piper, coming to steal my soul.
- The slight swaying of a fern alerts me, something or someone just darted away.
- In the dark it’s hard to determine just what that object is.
- Shadows hide things.
- There are places for little ghostly ghouls to hide.
- Then of course, there are the dogs who like to give you a run for your money.
Enough about this spooky, scary shit. I told you there was a give-away didn’t I? So here it is. One lucky winner will win all the goodies in both of these pictures. (Minus the props of course.)

So two things. One I am so with you about the dark walks, wasn’t so bad last year as unless the ex was away we would do them together but this year I will be doing them all alone. I did my first completely dark one the other night and half way down this road (in the middle of no where) I heard a noise in the bus, underneath something that looked like a make shift house… at was at this moment I realised I should purchase a heavier flash light!
And two.. that first picture you have published. After looking at it a couple of times I genuinely thought you had taken it and that you were some amazingly talented photographer (which you are) and then I noticed the tree and thought, wow that’s an amazingly neat tree… Sometimes I amaze myself with my blondeness!

Okay, we have a small screen on the laptop and it is 5am as we are reading about the contest. Mom read you would win two products shown in the pictures, but we did not see the photos below, so Mom was telling me this is crazy to win a garbage can or fire hydrant or something in those other photos. We were relieved to see the other photos when we scrolled down! We love our early morning dark walk and/or run, but sometimes it can be scary. Somehow dark mornings feel relaxing. We don’t carry a flashlight or anything, usually there are enough lights here and there.

Those darn crows on our park have been known to attack dogs during the breeding season so we keep way from where there nests might be. Good luck to all with the giveaway. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

Those are all reasons I don’t walk after dark (the real reason is I’m afraid of encountering a bear though,..lol).
It’s funny you mentioned the birds…I was out in the yard at dusk the other night and heard those birds cackling away. My hubby was on the deck and I kept asking him if he heard them, but he didn’t. I swear at one point they sounded exactly like a human (or witch) laughing! It was really kind of freaky, and I was glad I was close to the house!

Wow, who knew Connecticut was so scary?
No wonder Freddy Krueger always terrorized the suburbs.

I refuse to believe you’re scared of anything, especially things that go rustle in the night. 🙂

Sorry I’m a bit late with this; BUT I’ve had a rather crazy two days. I’ll tell ya about it some other time. Right now, though, that first picture reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds”. As a kid, I was scared shitless of that movie, although the birds that lived in our neighborhood never scared me. Odd. As for being afraid of the dark. Not me. I’m an old fan of the 60’s horror soap opera, Dark Shadows. I loved that show and still miss watching it with my Mom. So, no, ghosts and goblins don’t scare me — some of them are my best friends. 🙂 What scares me are the idiots that fly up and down our road in their cars like it was the Autobahn in Germany!! I am constantly amazed that there aren’t more accidents on this road than there are!
