Something really important to remember anytime of year when fireworks are involved, and especially around the 4th of July.
Many of our pets are very sensitive to the sounds of fireworks and many of our service men and women come home from combat suffering from PTSD. The sound of fireworks has a far different effect on them than it does on the rest of us.
Remember this and please be respectful.

Jodi – I’m glad you brought this subject up. When my Dad came back from Viet Nam in 1969 it was when those ESTES rockets were popular and I remember walking hand in hand with him to go see a neighbor and a kid set off one of these rockets. The next thing I know the neighbor (Bruce) was trying to pull him out from under a parked car where he had dove and was brushing off all the dirt and debris that was on him. It too him quite a while to calm down and reassure me that he was alright and it would be OK. So I know firs hand what it can be like (PTSD).

Thank you for pointing this out. We live on an Air Force base (that doesn’t allow fireworks) so we get to avoid really loud fireworks with our dogs. I’m sure their are plenty of people on base that appreciate site not having fireworks close by.

So true!! So far it hasn’t been too bad here because of the rain, but we did hear quite a few last night, and the weekend isn’t over yet. A lot were postponed because of the rain, so I’m expecting tonite to be worse.

A very good point, people often think of the effects on animals but I would be surprise if many people thought about the effect on some service personnel.
