Hey everyone, Sampson here taking over for the Mama this morning.
I’ve heard Mama talk about gated communities. In fact she was all excited about one she heard about in North Carolina that had lots of hiking trails, a river and lake. I’ve been to North Carolina on vacation a couple of times and it’s a pretty neat place so I was all on board with it. Besides anywhere I’m with my Mama is a fine place to me.
But then the Mama made OUR house into a gated community and I think I’ve changed my mind.

Not a gate but effective at keeping me away.
These chairs used to be in our dining room around our table. Now they sit in front of my favorite window, and I can’t see out it.

Daddy made this to fit across the top of our stairs. Now I can’t run down them to greet people when they come to visit me.
Someday stairs, someday I will run down you again.
Instead I have to lie at the top of the stairs and wait for folks to make their way to me.
This is my couch. MY COUCH.
Up until a few weeks ago it was completely off limits. The Mama removed one of the gates and placed the weird stairs there instead, because she knows that side of the couch is MINE and she thinks I’ll use the stairs to get on MY COUCH. Except I hate those stairs and I won’t use them.
Last week there was an added twist….
In a mean spirited moment, My Mama removed the gates so I could climb up on the couch, but she left the stairs right in front of my spot. Not using them! I hear my couch calling, but I can’t answer the call.

This is where we all used to sleep together. Now the Mama and I sleep in another room and Daddy and Delilah sleep in our room.

For a while I had to stay in there all the time, sometimes she even locked me in!
While I know the Mama has my best interests at heart, sometimes it feels like she’s going a little overboard. Sirisuly, you wouldn’t want to live in a gated community like this would you?
clever, we have those same steps for the bed but Norbert wont use the at all even after months. He wont even approach them. We have taken to lifting him both of us together as he is 100 lbs into the bed. Im thinking of trying a ramp as he is so afraid of the steps. He just stands at barks at them and wont use or approach them even for cheese! His favorite. The pugs and Bob will use them

Hahaha…my house looks the same way…gates all over…is sampson ok??? I only lock out for dog hair on the furniture. Lol
Aw, poor Sampson! Your friend Callie knows how you feel — she had to go through the same “torture” last year. And, no, your Mama isn’t going overboard with the gated community thing. She has to do it all to protect you from yourself. She KNOWS that given the opportunity to, you would do all those things you want to do and probably re-injure yourself in the process. She doesn’t want to have to put you through surgery again.

Question though, I understand the stairs to the couch etc….but how come the window and those things are all gated? Just to keep Sampson more contained until he is healed?
I have quite a few gates in my house too, except my huskies will just jump over them if they really want to BOL!
And Sampson, i’m glad you realize your mama is doing whats best for you, she loves you a ton!

OMD OMD we can’t believe it… FALSE ADVERTISING… this Gated Community should be REPORTED fur False Advertising… there is not a single walking trail and that is just not right.
We would not like it either.
You may as well do some crimes, counter surfing, etc, since you are already doing the time. I feel sorry for you! Life in a gated community just isn’t at all what it sounds like!
Wow – that’s funny! And also necessary – it is for your best interests!
A little side note – maybe he doesn’t like using the stairs because they are a bit narrow. The stairs I have in front of my couch were custom made (by a family member) and they are pretty wide – about the width of two (or maybe at least 1 1/2 of those stairs you have now. I don’t know how handy your hubby is – but maybe he could give it a whirl?

Awww! Might not be the elite gates expected, but it’s still very exclusive to your needs!
OMG, S. That is a LOT of gates. I’m pretty sure they’re for your own good, but sheesh! I bet it’s hard to burn off steam with so many gates.

Proof your mum has finally cracked, we all suspected it would happen we just didn’t know what tit would look like! hee hee don’t worry poppet, it is for your own good. Just use those puppy eyes and I am sure you will get a couple more treats for being a good boy and hopefully that’ll make it a little more bearable!

Oh Sampson, that would not be my idea of a gated community either. But it was for your own good and hopefully one day soon, more gates will open. 🙂
