Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog post where I highlight reader’s comments, answer some questions and generally wrap up my week.
Here we go!
You Make Me Smile – February 16, 2014
What I gathered from this is many of you have trouble with selfies. And while we’re on that topic, I’m not sure I like that term “selfies” to me “selfies” is something that should be done in private. 😉
I really wish I could capture the hilarity of Delilah. She is what some people call a “velcro dog” and I swear I hear the patter of her feet when I sleep.
Hailey and Zaphod said, “We still can’t laugh about the whole Lee ate into the wall of our new house – but we don’t want to strangle her, so that is progress.”
Yeah, I’m not sure I could laugh about that one either. I’m glad you don’t want to strangle her though. 🙂
Jenna,Mark “HuskyCrazed” Drady said, “Koda stick his nose in my crotch/ass area quite often and its the worst when I crounch down to pick something IP and his cold wet nose dives right into my crack Hahaha Hahaha!!!!!”
OMG! That nose is cold too! Delilah goes with me into the bathroom and tries to sniff my hoo hah when I’m peeing, sometimes her nose hits my leg and you can imagine what comes out of my mouth then!
Houndstooth said, “Oh, Delilah, don’t ever change! Well behaved dogs don’t make for good blogs!”
That’s totally true, imagine this blog with only Sampson. Sampson slept on the couch today, Sampson slept on the bed…
Oz the Terrier said, “Ah, you gotta laugh about those things…better to laugh than have a fit!”
I try to always laugh, but I do admit it is hard sometimes!
Vlad and Barkley’s Dee said, “Have you got anything for me?” Harry asked, but she seemed distracted by his lit wand-tip.”
Is it me or does that sound sexual to you?
That’s somewhere in Deathly Hallows. I know it sounds that way because I started giggling when I read it.”
A girl after my own heart. 🙂 But you can bet I’ll be reading through DH to see if I can find that.
Lauranne said, “When I see spam I do sometimes worry is it spam or not, I would hate to ignore someone who had commented, and as my spelling and grammar are horrendous I can’t rely on pulling that apart so I usually check out the URL if it is from “need a hard screw” or some other DIY place (see what I did there!!) then I reject it without the worry!”
I do see what you did there! That was great!
Emma said, “We had a lot more spam when we were not self hosted. Now we might get one a week and we are fine with that. They are often pretty funny and we wonder why people are doing it?”
I’m self-hosted Emma and I still get tons of Spam! Like, 200 spam comments per day. Tell me your secret.
Golden Woofs Sugar said, “Always think SPAM is based on your browsing.”
I suppose that’s possible, but some of the Spam is from websites I would NEVER frequent.
Dawn said, “Love the one about Delilah. What kind of mission do you think she is on when she goes to church?”
Anyone who wishes to take communion, please line up behind the large chocolate lab.
2 Brown Dawgs has had this comment left on her blog, ““I hardly leave a response, however I browsed some responses on Goodbye January And Not A Moment Too Soon | 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.
I do have some questions for you if you don’t mind. Could it be just me or do some of the comments come across as if they are written by brain dead visitors?
And, if you are writing on other online social sites, I’d like to follow you.
Would you list of every one of your social community pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?””
Because none of THOSE social media buttons are ever listed on any blog. 🙂
You guys are so amazing, I wish I could highlight every single comment.
Some of you mentioned the community on this blog and it’s true there is a great sense of community here. I mean when you leave comments, they aren’t just, “nice post.” They are detailed, articulate and well thought out. Not to mention, not only do you comment on MY post, but you read the comments, and comment on them AND you come back and respond again! You totally amaze me.
You always say the nicest things and I just can’t thank you enough!!
Lauranne said, “Glad to read that someone who seems so together also panics and worries about blog related things, and can’t help but get stuck up on silly things like subscribers etc!”
Dear girl, the operative word in that comment is seems. I am so not together.
Pamela asked, “As for blogging, I have one question: is Heart Like a Dog your art or is it your work? Because the answer will determine what you do with your blog and how you feel about it.”
I so wish I knew the answer to that Pamela. Perhaps you could help me figure it out? Maybe over coffee? 😉
Pup Fan said, “Jodi’s kind of a Pup Fan whisperer.”
Really? I’m honored. 🙂 And thank you again for the awesome cartoons, I love them and I think you are awesome!!
Jan said, “Seriously, er…siriusly, if you continue to enjoy writing the blog, why do you care if you don’t have thousands of subscribers?”
You typed siriusly! You did! And you’re an English major!! OMG
The truth about this blog is, I never feel that I am good enough. I always feel like I should be better.
And on that note, I’m calling this post done.
Thank you all so very, very much and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Well I don’t agree with that last part…like at all. 🙂 I love your blog. You are good enough.
Hope you have a great weekend. I enjoyed your follow-up. 🙂

I have that askimet thing running that blocks spam, but maybe it is your titles that attract spammers. We love them as they are attention getters and seriously funny, but they may attract weirdos. Those are our only two thoughts on the spam. We have such family friendly content, it might be too boring for those spammers most of the time.
Sherri says
I am disagreeing with that last comment – you are good enough. Your blog is one of my favorites to read. Funny, real, content I can relate to, humor. Plus, I love Delilah stories. Those naughty dogs are the best.
Jenna,Mark “HuskyCrazed” Drady says

I love this comment from Pamela: “As for blogging, I have one question: is Heart Like a Dog your art or is it your work? Because the answer will determine what you do with your blog and how you feel about it.”

LOL…I love your Friday posts. Always so entertaining. People in general are weird and crack me up, but dogs…….they really know how to make us laugh.
Frankie and Ernie says
Grrreat RE-HAT… hehheehe as always. We love your week in review.

I’ve been trying to work up the courage to type siriusly on my own blog since I saw it on yours.
Sand Spring Chesapeakes says
Great FUF, you are the bomb keep blogging with a smile! 🙂
Dawn says
Do you get those spam comments that say, “My parents think I’m wasting a lot of time here…”? Sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the posts to read, but then I think about what I might be missing. What kind of mischief did Snoopy find this time? How is Sugar doing now that the lumps have been removed? And especially, what is Delilah up to now? Reading your posts and other pet people’s posts is much more entertaining than anything on tv.
