Today we join our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs along with their co-host Ruckus the Eskie for This ‘N That Thursday. 2 Brown Dawgs says it’s a little of this and a little of that and anything in between!
Delilah and I are back in Nosework class again!!
Tuesday night Delilah and I started Advanced Nosework. For those unfamiliar with this sport, Donna from Donna and the Dogs has a small series running on her blog that explains this sport.
In our beginner class our hunts/finds were strictly food. This time around we are introducing birch. I’ll have a full post on how we’re doing that coming up soon.
In the meantime, here’s Delilah back in the classroom setting. She’s just like her Mama, she loves to learn!
Why are you making me wait? I see the boxes in the middle of the room, let’s work!
Then there were two.
Two weeks ago as I was taking my grandson home Hubby warned me of a dead deer in the road. I don’t know about you but seeing any animal lifeless on the side of the road, just about breaks my heart. It is so sad.
I worry about the deer. The herd is getting smaller and smaller. When we first moved to our home seven years ago there was a herd of about eight deer. The last time I saw deer running in the woods there were three.
Last week the dogs were going ballistic and I looked out the window.
Looks like the herd is down to two.
Jigsaw Puzzles
Do you like jigsaw puzzles? I recently got into jigsaw puzzles on my iPad. Sadly the one I loved didn’t update their app for the new operating system Apple came out with so I’m still in the market. If any of you have a jigsaw app for your phone or iPad that you love, would you please share it?
In the meantime, I found this picture of Sampson standing on a trail of leaves and thought, that might make a pretty challenging puzzle. What do you think?
Puzzle? You’ve got me puzzled with that thought Mama.
Follow-Up Friday
For those of you participating in tomorrow’s blog hop, my co-hostess is once again, the only Flea you wouldn’t mind hanging around your dog. Yes, it’s Flea from Jones Natural Chews!
Join us tomorrow as we answer questions, highlight reader’s comments and wrap up our week!
Many thanks to 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie.

My Mom Person spends quite a bit of wasted time with an online puzzle place called All-Star Puzzles. I guess they have all kinds of puzzles along with jigsaws. You can even put in your own pictures to make a puzzle with. You might check it out. Y’all have fun at your nose class! I would like to hear all about that.
Sand Spring Chesapeakes says
That would make a beautiful and hard puzzle. Lovely deer, so glad you get to see some out your window. Have fun in nose work class.
Dogs N Pawz says
Beautiful pictures of both Sampson and Delilah! We have lots of deer around here. They are beautiful and it breaks my heart when I see one on the side of the road that has been hit by a car.

That photo would make an excellent puzzle. Bailie and I are supposed to start nosework classes in January, we can’t wait, it should be lots of fun for both of us!

Honey and I never progressed beyond searching for food. I’m looking forward to learning how to transition to sniffing scents.
Of course, Honey is happy to sniff out salmon forever.:)
BTW, want to make a Sampson and leaf puzzle even more challenging? Give it oddly shaped edges.
Molly The Wally says
That is sad about the deer and sad that the little herd is down to two.
Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Animalcouriers says
It would make a fiendish puzzle!
Michelle Liew says
Yes, those leaves certainly look like puzzle pieces and the colors are so beautiful!
Frankie and Ernie says
You are RIGHT that would make a GRRRRREAT Puzzle.
Oz the Terrier says
So sad about the deer. Can I cross my paws that the some of the herd was just someplace else and not lost for good? I think that photo would make an awesome puzzle!! Might be a challenging one too.

We have started doing nose work just as a fun project. I’m not sure if the Poodles will let me go beyond food though. That puzzle idea looks a little sadistic. 🙂
Jackie Bouchard says
That would make an awesomely hard puzzle!
And I hope the herd has just moved on??
Flea says
What?! I’m co-hosting tomorrow?!
Just kidding. Heh.
That photo would make an amazing 1,000 piece jigsaw. The kind I would hate and upend a table over. I like jigsaw puzzles to a point. I just never have the table space or patience.

That photo would make a great puzzle. I didn’t know there were apps for puzzles, I might have to check that out. I haven’t done a puzzle for a long time but used to enjoy it.
I will be interested to hear more about your nose work with Delilah. I have been reading Donna’s posts and want to try it sometime with our dogs.
Genevieve says
Sampson, you are like Where’s Waldo on those leaves. That puzzle would go in the garbage. Too difficult!
Rebekah says
That final picture would make for a very difficult puzzle, indeed!
houndstooth says
Wait! You can do puzzles on the iPad?! How did I not know this?
I love how happy Delilah looks at class! What a sweetheart! Sampson looks like he’s working on his camouflage! 🙂
Dawn says
Yes, that photo of Sampson would make an excellent puzzle! It makes me wish I had time to do puzzles again.
I hate seeing dead animals along the side of the road too. It’s worse when it was my car that actually killed them. I’ve never, thankfully, hit a deer or a dog. In fact, several years ago, I was in a serious wreck because I swerved to avoid hitting a dog.

Thanks so much for participating in TNT! Can’t wait to hear more about nose work class. I think Sampson in the leaves would make for a challenging puzzle. 🙂 Deer don’t really belong in neighborhoods. Hopefully some of them have moved to a better area. That happens too.
Ruckus the Eskie says
Oh my goodness a dead deer? I would be worried too!
Thanks for hopping onto This N That Thursday this week! Woof.
slimdoggy says
That’s too bad about the deer – I’m with you, always makes me feel bad even when it’s a coyote. I think Sampson’s pic with the leaves would make a great puzzle.
weliveinaflat says
That puzzle might be a little too challenging depending on the number of pieces…. and Nosework sounds really interesting!
Lauranne says
That would make a brilliant Jigsaw – you could so sell it too, I would have one!! Fingers crossed for the deers, it is so sad that their numbers are decreasing!!
Basil says
Delilah looks so pleased to be back in the classroom!
Donna says
Glad you are back in Nose Works Jodi (and thanks for the shout out!). Delilah looks like she’s ready to work.
Sorry your deer heard in thinning, I can’t even look at the animals on the side of the road. So sad. 🙁
