Today we join our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie for This ‘N That Thursday.
Calendar Fundraiser
By now most of you in the continental United States should have received your calendars. (My apologies to my Canadian and international friends, I sent them the quickest way I could.) They came out awesome didn’t they? And it’s all thanks to Julie at the Daily Dog Blog!
Thank you Julie, you rock!
So here’s the final dilly. After collecting all monies, including donations (thank you Donna) I ended up ordering 100 calendars. Minus shipping and processing (and miscellaneous PayPal fees) I was left with $1,261.19!!
Of course it’s bitter sweet as you know because Benny lost his fight just a few weeks ago.
Run fast, run free Benny.
I just want to take a minute to thank you all, each and every one of you for supporting this fundraiser, for entering, voting, promoting and purchasing. I wish I could hug each and every one of you!
You all rock!!
Run Fast, Run Free Norman
On another sad note, Norman of Sand Spring Chesapeakes (Mr. August in our calendar) went to the BRIDGE on Tuesday night. His mom, JoAnn has a beautiful tribute to him on her blog today, but make sure to grab a box of tissues before you head over. I literally bawled my make-up off.
Run fast, run free Norman.
Custom Portrait Giveaway
So happy news in the beginning of the blog, sad news in the middle. Let’s end on a happy shall we?
Do you have any portraits of your pets? Personally I don’t, although I do have a couple of pictures that were printed to look like paintings. And I love them!
I would also love a custom painting of my two favorite pupsters and so I’m going to enter a contest to win a custom painting. And the best part is, you can too!!
So there’s this artist, AJ Emm (go ahead look at it, you know you want to) and she does these amazing paintings. Check out the one she did of Koly and Felix from Kol’s Notes.
ANYHOO, Kol’s Notes is having a give-away of one of these custom paintings! Siriusly you guys, there are only 47 more shopping days until Christmas. If you aren’t giving out calendars, have you considered a custom portrait?
And if you don’t want a portrait of your fur baby (really? WTF is wrong with you?) she does people portraits too.
If you order a portrait and you win? AJ will refund your money or give you a second portrait at no charge!
Amazeballs, right?
BUT WAIT, there’s more.
How about a 25% discount on a custom portrait? I know right? It feels like Christmas is already here!
You won’t see this discount code floating around just anywhere. There are only a few of us bloggers who have it.
What is it?
Oh yeah, you need that right? So to get your 25% discount, you need to type UNICORN when you purchase. Why UNICORN you ask? Because UNICORNS rock!
Enter here.

I’m super excited to let you know that I have a newbie co-hostess joining me for Follow-Up Friday’s blog hop tomorrow. It’s none other than Emma from My GBGV Life! Tomorrow is the day I highlight and answer comments, so be sure to tune in.

I have been promising myself to have a portrait done of my MIL’s dog Nicky who passed away a few years ago at the age of 21. I think it would be a beautiful gift but I have never remembered in time. I would love to win this prize for the kick in the butt I apparently need!
So sorry to read that we have lost so many dogs in blogville this month. Sad times indeed. 🙁

F. & E’s MOM here… I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for doing the Calendar Project. THAT is an amazing Profit and will go a LONG way toward making Andrea and Lily’s Christmas Much BRIGHTER.
I received My Calendars and they are UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL. Nice weight to the paper and the pictures are wonderful.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for doing this for our Buddy… BENNY. AND for US. Each month we will see a New Pic of one of our Friends… and we will think of YOU also.
Sincerely,
Lana

That was a bit of a downer beginning, but with Benny gone and still having that bill, the money will help out I’m sure. Mom has so many photos and stuff of us on the walls, we need a bigger home if we wanted portraits too, so we will pass. We still have to get some pics of Bailie on our walls to go with what we have. Great work on the calendars! We love ours.
Dawn says
I love my calendar! Great job!!! 🙂
Sorry to hear about Norman. Losing a loved one is so difficult. 🙁
Donna says
Oh, I hadn’t heard about poor Norman. 🙁
Thanks for the heads up…off to offer some condolences.

So sad about both Benny and Norman.
The calendars are beautiful! What a great idea for a fundraiser – we raised a good chunk of money, and we have something beautiful to show for it as well!

My sister is an artist and would be mad at me if I had someone else do portraits…but they look fab!

I received my calendar a few days ago and it is absolutely beautiful. I have to say, I was pretty surprised that you sent it Priority Mail!
The past couple months have sure been a heartbreaking time in Blogville. SO many sweet souls have passed over the bridge recently. My heart aches for every single one.

So sad, the losses of Benny and now Norman. My eyes well up again when I just think about it. So thank you for ending on a happy note. I LOVE that painting of Kolchak and Felix, and I would love one of my own fur kids. The discount is awesome!

Amazing job on the calendar fundraiser. You rock Jodi! I am sad about Benny and Norman, but they are free from pain.
I have a portrait of Thunder so I guess it would be Storm’s turn. She would probably stick out her tongue, but I would pick her…lol.
I did not see you in the linky so I added you if that is OK. 🙂

Opps and thanks for participating!

Got home and our calendar was waiting for us! From Canada, Lee and Phod who say it looks great and are sorry that some of the friends featured in it are no longer with us.

Jodi, thank you for mentioning Norman and that he crossed over the Bridge. You are so kind for all the wonderful things you do for everyone. I am so glad Norman made the cut for this fabulous calendar. His memory will live on. You gals did a wonderful job on it and raising lots of money for Benny’s family. RIP Benny, I didn’t get to know you but you and Norman can be friends up in the sky.
Ruckus the Eskie says
Woof! Thanks for hopping onto This ‘N That Thursday this week. So sad to hear about Norman, such a great photo of him. And of course, if I win that drawing..would I be too self-absorb to say that it would be of myself??
Sue at Talking Dogs says
Fabulous job on that calendar!! The news about Norman hit me hard. So many losses lately in the pet blogger community. Love that portrait contest and entered over at Kol’s 🙂
Susan and Wrigs says
We love the calendar! Thank you so much for all your hard work. Glad to hear the fundraiser was a success. It’s bittersweet since little Benny is no longer with us. So sorry to hear about Norman, too.
It would be awesome to get a portrait of Wrigs.
