Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.
About those wooly bears:
Sue said, “When the brown bands on woolly worms are narrow, it means a harsh winter. The wider the brown band, the milder the winter will be.”
I knew it was something like that!
Frankie and Ernie had a great post with detailed information about what the stripes on the wooly bears mean.
You Make Me Smile – I’ll Always Want a Lab
Houndstooth asked, “Delilah is one dog I would love to meet in person! Can you bring her to Vegas for me?”
I know that anything goes in Vegas, but honestly I’m not sure even sin city is ready for this dog!
Blueberry’s Human said, “Nose prints on my clothes though – or nose juice running down my neck in the morning from B’s head being under my chin – that makes me smile every time. The first time it happened I thought I was sweating and then realized, ‘Nope, that’s from her nose!’.”
Now that made me laugh! Neither of my dogs have ever dripped ‘nose juice’ down my neck.
And here is the punk picture as promised.
I love this photo, it looks to me like she’s smiling!
So here is the original photo.
And here are the comments:
Jackie said, “Yeah – how do we get the average non-picker-upper to pick up? Those are probably the same “the rules don’t apply to ME” people I see all the time doing stuff like texting while they drive. How do we get them to stop doing ALL the bad things they do?”
I wish i knew.
Oz said, “I snoop, and I snoop but I cannot locate the poop (in the photo)!”
I love this Oz! Even when it’s not limerick month, you are still a rhyming kind of dog!
Donna said, “Ugh. I can understand losing it in the leaves, that happens in my own yard, especially with Miss Medi the walk-while-she-poos dog, but in the middle of the path??”
Delilah does that too. In fact, sometimes I call her “Delilah shit-walker.” Shhh, don’t tell her.
Sugar asked, “Yikes on Delilah … did it smelled?”
I didn’t smell it, but I think it was a couple of days old and had lost it’s potency.
I’m pretty sure that some of you spotted the poop, only you know for sure. Let me know if you did.
Click on the photo to enlarge it.
Callie, Shadow and Ducky’s Mom asked, “What I can’t figure out is why the adoption fee at your pound is 10 times higher. For residents than it is for non-residents. Shouldn’t it be at the very least only a few dollars higher; and more logically a few dollars lower??”
You know, I really wanted to call the pound and ask them, but then I knew I’d ask about her and I was afraid of the answer. I’ll try and call this week.
Jessica asked, “Is there any way you could get a group together to advocate for longer hold times?”
We do have some really great animal advocates in this state. I’ll see what I can find out.
My other thought is, their website says, “Can be euthanized” at the 10th day, and I’m wondering if that is dependent upon how many animals they are housing.
2 Brown Dawgs said, “I don’t understand the thinking of removing a dog from any given situation only to euthanize it. Or maybe euthanizing this dog was what they had in mind when it was removed? That to me is the question.”
Another really good question. My thought is euthanizing the animal is more compassionate than letting it die slowly and suffering.
Gizmo said, “Delilah you’re a great coach but like your mom there are some pounds on Momz that won’t come off no matter how hard I work her…She tells me it’s cause she’s older than dirt and her metabolism is broken…Now I don’t know what that means, but I think she’s just lazy.”
Delilah here: I wonder if that’s not the case with my Mama too, she seems to always have an excuse for not doing something.
And Mama? I read that and that’s just mean.
Chipmunks are cute, but they can be very destructive. Sadly we need to find a way to remove them.
And on another sad note, Bennie the Frenchie, the little hero of our calendar fundraiser, lost his fight yesterday. Our hearts and prayers are with his Mama and Lily.
That’s a wrap for this week’s Follow-Up Friday. If you are interested in co-hosting, please let me know either in the comments, on facebook or drop me an e-mail.

That’s a great photo! I agree with you, it really does look like she’s smiling.
I think I should know a bit more about blog hops before hosting/co-hosting, as I don’t want to volunteer then not know what I’m doing! But if its free, then I would be quite happy to co-host.
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
Hey, Earl, I didn’t know ANYTHING about blog hop hosting/co-hosting the first time I joined Miss Jodi; but she is a very kind and patient teacher. It’s fun– and free — go ahead and give it a try! If I can do it, anyone can! 🙂
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
Great FUF post, Jodi!
I’d love to hear the shelter’s answer to my question…somehow, charging residents more than non-residents seems self-defeating to me. Unless, of course, they would prefer to euthanize all the animals upon surrender/pick-up/whatever, in which case they need to be shut down altogether. But hell, what do I know?
Oooooh, I want one of those cameras so bad! The punk’d effect is just as cool as the sparkle! It does look like she’s smiling! And, I didn’t find the poop either. Sometimes my poor Callie does the shit walk too — when her arthritis is particularly bothersome.
Hawk aka BrownDog says
Hi Y’all!
I’d love to see Delilah in Vegas!!!
Y’all come by now,

Send me your address, I would be happy to come out and rid your yard of those chipmunks. I would miss my mom, but I would be so busy, it would be worth it! I won’t be able to get there for another ten days or so after my stitches come out. Interesting on those wooly ones and their stripes, we are going to look for some today to see how the winter will be. Thanks for hosting the hop 🙂
Sue at Talking Dogs says
Great FUF, Jodi! I sure didn’t see the poop in those leaves in the original shot! And… if what they say about Vegas is true, Delilah would fit right in – 😉
Any time you want a co-host, let me know!
Molly The Wally says
Us too …. let us at those chipmunks. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly

Well I missed the poop…The “punk” effect is so cool…and your camera has a setting for that? Interesting to compare it back to the “sparkle” photo

Roxy the traveling dog says
The punkd pic is awesome. And I totally missed the poop.
Jackie Bouchard says
I saw *that* in the photo, but did not think *that* was poop. Rita’s poops are darker than that! (TMI??) I thought it was the darker brown bit in the lower right corner. You stumped me w/ the poop shot.
Love the punkd pic.
So sad about Bennie!
Pam and The Wieners says
Okay, just caught up on a bunch of posts (from the 13th forward, I think) and decided not to comment on all of them. Was tough, too… there were some great posts in there, but I knew I’d be here all day if I went on a commentathon.
Regarding drool, nose juice, etc., the other night Austin actually got a bubble of nose juice on his snout – a bubble!! – like when
filthy kidssick children get snot bubbles. We were eating dinner, which is what likely prompted the nose juice. A camera was nowhere nearby, and it was gone too soon for a shot anyway… cracked me up, though.I missed the poop in the photo. I saw a couple of spots that I *thought* were chunks of poop, but I was wrong.
I read about Benny yesterday. 🙁 I have been following his story from a distance, so to speak. Not commenting there, but keeping up. But they’ve had a lot of support from bloggers everywhere, and I hope it made a difference.
Jessica@YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner says
Is Delilah good with other dogs? You should bring her to BlogPaws and let her play in daycare during the sessions. I am planning to drive down from Seattle with Chester and Gretel. Gretel has to stick with me because she can be kind of a B but Chester LOVES to hang out in the daycare and charm the attendant ladies 🙂 It would be so fun to meet each others dogs.

Heh, I saw the poop. Have a great week ahead Jodi ^ ^

Ha! I did spot the poop! Must be all those years of practice having four dogs and a big yard.
That punk photo was pretty cool, very neat effect.
Dogs N Pawz says
Love the punk picture! That is really cool!
Donna says
I did NOT spot the poop!
2 brown dawgs says
The punk effect is really cool. I have to play with that camera more, but it is in with hubby’s hunting stuff. 🙂 I couldn’t spot the poop. lol I was sorry to hear about Benny.
Pup Fan says
I’ve never heard them called wooly bears before… only wooly worms. I totally believe in their winter-predicting abilities though.
Jessica@YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner says
I missed the post…so were the bands on the wooly worms/bears wide or narrow? I am wondering what to expect for winter 🙂
