The thing I love best about participating in the Tuesday’s Tails blog hop is I feel like I’m doing something to help dogs in need.
If I had unlimited resources, I’d have a LOT more dogs, and I’d set up a foundation to help dogs find their forever homes, because I hate (as I know you do) that so many pets are euthanized on any given day in this world.
I’d also set up a fund to help people who had fallen on hard times, keep their pets.
If I had unlimited resources I’d also work towards making sure that unscrupulous people, couldn’t get their hands on or have the opportunity to exploit dogs. AND if by chance they did? I’d find a way to get my point across to them, so dogs like Sugar weren’t bred and bred and bred and then surrendered when they were seven-years-old because they were “ugly.”
Sugar’s lived a hard life, she’s been kept outside, chained to a tree in the dirt. And did I mention she’s been bred? Many times over and not by someone who is concerned with continuing the breed. No, she’s been bred for the sole purpose of money.
Based upon the geographical area of CT where Sugar was surrendered, I can tell you that more than likely some (if not all) of her many puppies went to some very unsavory people.
According to Sugar’s Petfinder page, Sugar is house-trained, has been around people and children of all ages, has learned to walk on a leash and will be tested around other dogs.
Sugar’s $50 adoption fee, also comes with a voucher to have her spayed for free, along with two pre-surgical vaccinations. She is currently at the Meriden CT Animal Control. The vouchers are not valid for out of state adopters.
Hubby always tells me “You can’t save them all” and it makes me so sad, but I know he’s right.
But dammit, today I can save THIS one.
Today, together we can save Sugar. Will you help? Will you share her on your social media networks? Will you help Sugar find a home where she is treasured and loved and treated like she deserves?
Many thanks to Lisa and Phe from Dogs ‘N Pawz for Tuesday’s Tails Blog hop.

Just shared her on Facebook. She looks like such a sweet girl! She was probably a good mama dog, too, for as long as she was allowed to be. Bless her heart.
And if I had unlimited funds, I’d be right there with you taking in and helping every dog I could, every family I could to keep their dogs, and blocking every puppy mill/irresponsible breeder I could. No, we can’t save them all but we can sure try to save a lot of them! You’re a lady after my own heart! 🙂

Sugar is adorable! I hope her second chance comes sooner than later.
“You can’t save them all” has never been a reason to not save as many as possible.

Oh my gosh that sweet face. I’m with you – I can think of no better cause to spend my fortunes on. Funny, my hubby says the same thing “you can’t save them all” – but we can save as many as possible. I hope Sugar gets the home and love she deserves.

It’s amazing that dogs who have been so mistreated still have that sweetness and desire to bond with a human.

Ugly??? She is soooo beautiful. I’ll reserve my nasty thoughts for her previous owners.
Will share this gorgeous sweetheart!
And no, we can’t save them all… but we can at least play a part in trying. Hubs and I like to daydream and talk about the adoption sanctuary we’d build if we were rich. We go over every detail of what it would be like and how it would be operated. Then we sigh and wonder why all the people who are already über rich aren’t doing these things. The mind boggles.

What a gorgeous girl! The amazing thing to me is always their resilience; despite her had life, the right family will come along and turn it all around for this pretty girl!

Sugar is beautiful. I hope she finds a home. I know what you mean about wanting to save them all and keep dogs away from people who don’t deserve them.

I love Sugar’s spotty ears! Sharing on Twitter. I hope she gets adopted soon!
I agree with you. It’s so very hard to see all of that go on, even just through our small Internet windows, and look at our limited resources. If I had the money, we’d have more dogs. We’d donate a whole lot to the Doberman Assistance Network. I’d probably volunteer for transport, if I didn’t have to work. But money has to come from somewhere, right?
One dog at a time.

I know what you mean Jodi. This is one of the saddest things I hear. And a lot of times they are senior pets that have lived with one family all their lives…. 🙁

I don’t think she is ugly at all, hope she finds a home soon.
