Today we are joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday. It’s an anything goes kind of day and I’m in an anything goes kind of mood. Sounds like a perfect fit to me!
Please stop by 2 Brown Dawgs and see what they’re up to!
Human Shaming
My goal when I sit down to write a blog post is to bring a smile to someone’s face, it’s not always easy with some of the topics I tackle which is why when an opportunity comes to let it rip, I try and jump on that bandwagon.
Well friends, the opportunity is next Wednesday. Back by popular demand Heart Like a Dog will be taking part in the Human Shaming Blog Hop hosted by Kol’s Notes and My Brown Newfies. For those readers new to the blog, Sampson and Delilah really took me to task last year. If you’re interested you can read all about it here. Funny stuff? Yes. A little embarrassing? Definitely!!
To be truthful, I’m a tad bit nervous thinking of the humiliating photos I’ve had taken this year and wondering what those two will come up with.
The Flooding in Colorado
I’m sure by now you’ve heard the horror stories coming out of Colorado, they are calling it the 100 year flood and it means exactly that, the type of flooding that generally happens only once in a 100 year period.
As you know, when a natural disaster affects people it also affects our pets. The numbers are staggering:
- 21 helicopters were being used Monday for evacuations
- 11,750 people have been evacuated
- 8 people have lost their lives
- 658 people are still unaccounted for, which means no one has been able to get a hold of them. This number continues to decline as more people are rescued.
- This is being called the 100 Year Flood, here’s a little on what that means: http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/FS-229-96/
- Approximately 2,377 agricultural properties have been affected
- 36 shelters are now open serving hundreds of people and pets
- Flood conditions are spread across 200 miles covering 15 counties (these facts are courtesy of BlogPaws.)
As a member of The Blogger Disaster Response Network, I’ve taken a pledge to help get the word out, so people who are interested in helping know where to go to help.
No surprise but many companies have stepped up to help animals that are affected by this disaster, I urge you to check out the BlogPaws website if you are interested in helping.

This is great! I can’t wait to see Sampson and Delilah’s post next week! It should be hilarious!
Also, thanks for including the info and links for helping animals effected by the floods! I have a friend in Vermont who wants to help, or at least donate, so I’m going to share this post with her on my FB page.

I’m looking forward to the people shaming. If you really are free to a good home, there’s space in our bonus room. We have a nice library. But no TV.

Thanks for sharing! I think this should be interesting!

I can remember not long ago when people lost their lives because they wouldn’t leave their pets in a disaster. I’m so glad that people are understanding how important our furry familiy members are.
And I hope you get adopted by a nice family.

Oh dog…the human shaming should be hilarious. I cannot wait!

Thanks so much for hopping on TNT!
Can’t wait to see what your duo comes up with for this year.
Shame about those Colorado floods. I don’t think I would ever live around dams because the idea of those kinds of floods scares me. Thanks for getting the word out!
I love co-hosting your hop. Thanks for asking!

We feel for all the poor people and animals in Colorado. We say a prayer for them all. Looking forward to the people shaming. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

Love the human shaming photos! Sounds like a fun blog hop event. I wonder what Maya and Pierson will come up with.
That’s too bad about the Colorado flood. Nature sure can be formidable. Prayers to all.

I’ve seen our local flood maps and if we had a 100 year flood my house would most likely be floating by now…I feel so bad for those folks in Colorado…Thanks for reminding me about Human Shaming Day…Maybe I can hide the computer so Gizmo can’t post…aw, that wouldn’t be fair
Pam | Words With Wieners says
Oh boy, I’m looking for to this Human Shaming hop!! I’m kinda too shy to post pictures of myself, but we’ll see. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!
Free to good home? You need a whole ad that lists all the dog gear you come equipped with :). I’m not sure if you’ve been spayed, though… lol.
It’s really horrible about the flooding in Colorado. We are still recovering from the tornadoes here, so we really feel for what they’re going through. I pray for everyone impacted, especially the lost pets.

I could pin that sign on my cat Bert, but not on Mom 😉

Looking forward to the shaming. Will have to see if I share this with Rita…
Thanks for sharing the CO info.

I missed this last year, darn it. Had no idea you were free to a good home. I would’ve snapped you up in a NY minute!

It is really sad all the loss and damage and misplaced people and pets from the flood. Lately it seems as if mother nature is on a warpath. 🙁
I do look forward to seeing what hi-jinks your dogs have planned for the Human-Shaming Blog Hop. Especially Delilah. She’s a crafty one.

Human shaming… what a creative idea! And you are very brave to do that post! I’ll be too embarrassed, definitely. Shame about the floods D: but does make one reflect and appreciate the life one lives. You have a great weekend ahead 🙂
