You remember Teach? He’s Mr. January in the 2014 Dogs of Blogville Calendar. You can look at Teach every single day next January when you purchase the Dogs of Blogville Calendar.
Let’s cut right to the chase, you know technology challenges me. Last year I did the calendars as a combination of e-mails and paypal and a spreadsheet. This year since we had so many more entries, I anticipate a larger demand for calendars so I looked for an easier way to manage sales.
Last week I threw the plea out on Facebook and Kari sent me a link to a plug in. Sweet, I downloaded it but that was where I bottomed out.
I curse you plug ins! And you too widgets!
Enter Jodi Chick. Dude this Chick is amazing. (he he, pun intended) I mean with a cool name like Chick and being a female, how could you NOT have fun with it? Well, she literally took over my computer remotely and told me step-by-step what I needed to do. When I had finished and installed a Paypal button on my blog, she said “You did it!”
Um….no Jodi. YOU did it. If it wasn’t for her, I’d still be sitting on Paypal trying to figure out what category my blog fit into.
So I’ve got this Paypal button on my blog.
Because I anticipate selling more calendars than we sold last year, I opened a business account with Paypal. This was to make sure Paypal didn’t get snarky and shut me off at a certain amount of sales. The trouble is the business account charges, and I want to make sure we get as much as we can for Benny, so the calendars are $21.00 each. BUT that includes shipping and tax and everything else.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, if you can consolidate orders, we will realize a bigger profit which means more money for Benny.
I placed the Paypal button in the upper right side of the blog just under the subscriptions link. You can use either your Paypal account or a major credit card, if that’s easier. If for some reason Paypal or credit card doesn’t work for you, e-mail me at stone.jodi@ymail.com and we’ll figure something out.
Since I’m not sure how Paypal notifies me I’ll somehow be verifying with people who place orders that their orders are correct. If Paypal includes an e-mail that would be great, if not I will try and contact you via your blog and if that doesn’t work, I’ll run a post on the first Saturday in October listing all the people who ordered. I will also order a few extra calendars just in case.
I’m probably making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be, but I’m pretty sure some people wanted calendars last year that didn’t get them. 🙁
I’m going to accept orders from now through the end of September, which still gives us plenty of time to order the calendars and still be able to get them out before the holidays.
Ready or not, here we go!

Well, I see the Paypal button so you must have done it right! I bet PayPal will send you an email, if you have that set in your PayPal settings, because Ma always gets an email when someone sends $$$ and such. I will have to check with Ma before I go ahead and order a calendar…I got in trouble last time I “borrowed” her credit card for internet purchases. BOL

You should know how PayPal treats this now – I just ordered 5.
Good job, yay and congrats to the Jodies. 🙂

Best of luck. I bet it all works out great!

I see the button. Stuff like that scares Mom too, but she usually gets through it on her own because she doesn’t know who to call. Handling money is always scary! We will have to give it a try later.
Roxy the traveling dog says
Awesome. Let the sales start rolling in!
Elyse and Riley says
Good job Jodi (Chick)!! Haha, you too, Jodi Stone! 🙂 I just ordered one–I got an e-mail receipt from Paypal, just like always. I don’t think you made this complicated at all, in fact, it was super easy…so don’t worry about that!
Hope we raise lots of money for Benny and his Mom!
Elyse and Riley says
Ah, just realized you were talking about that you weren’t sure whether or not Paypal would send YOU an e-mail…they do! Or at least, any time I’ve ever received a payment through Paypal, I get an e-mail with the info. 😉 Hopefully you’re getting those too.
Excuse my ignorance in the previous comment…BOL!

So you’re not going to take orders in October? I’ve already allotted all my pay for September. 🙁
Margie Guess says
Yes..!! I do see the button, but no PayPal logo. That’s fine, ’cause us who uses it knows. Thanks and love, love, love your blog.

Ernie and I just ordered TWO Calendars for $42.00. We saw that it showed your blog name and your EMAIL… We THINK you will get an Email for Every ORDER. You will then need to check to see how MANY they ordered… and we THINK that the Mailing Address will be right there in the email….. UNLESS they are sending them to someone ELSE.
Idaho PugRanch says
Yeah!! Mom is going to have get a count for Christmas presents and then we will be back to order.

Hi Jodi!
It’s me again, Tammy the Marketing Coordinator at The Uncommon Dog. We just finished another informative info-graphic that I thought you might be interested in. It’s titled “How Dogs Became Our Best Friends!”.
If you love dogs, like we do, then you’ll love this story. Recent scientific breakthroughs have increased our understanding about how dogs have come to play such an integral part of our daily lives. This fun and engaging info-graphic tells that story in a way that we hope makes it accessible and interesting to everyone.
If you would like to share this info-graphic with your readers, please feel free to do so. You can find the info-graphic here: http://www.theuncommondog.com/how-dogs-became-our-best-friends.aspx Again, all we ask in return is that you link back to TheUncommonDog.com, in some way, from your post.
Also, definitely let me know if you do decide to post it because we’d be happy to spread the word again about the blog post by linking to it from our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ pages.
If you’d like your e-mail removed from our mailing list, please let us know.

Thank you so much, Jodi! We’ll be getting our orders in a.s.a.p.! The picture we submitted of Wrigs (Mr. February) is especially meaningful to us now, as Wrigs just had spinal fusion surgery on Wednesday. We hope he’ll be romping around playing with sticks again very soon!
