Both of my tenants have dogs. Yes, I take dogs.
When my second tenant was moving in I asked her what kind of dog she had, she said a mini-bull dog. When I went over to meet the dog, I expected to see a little white bull dog. Imagine my surprise when Bindi was actually a pocket Pittie.
I love this dog. She is absolutely adorable, always greets you with a grin and is extremely affectionate. One day Hubby had to go over to work on the kick plate of the refrigerator. As he tells the story he was down on his knees, with this elbows on the floor peering under the refrigerator, when Bindi stuck her face through the space between his body and his arm and began licking his face.
One day while I was over there, I sat on the couch while Bindi leaned against and drooled on my leg while I gave her rubbies. She is really a lovely, lovely dog.
I had thought, maybe one day she won’t be able to pay her rent and she’ll offer me her dog. 🙂
Since most of the Labs in my state are currently in foster care I thought I’d check my local pound to feature for today’s blog hop. The good news is my local pound doesn’t have any dogs.
Since Little Miss No Name was adopted from the Hartford pound last week, I thought I’d feature a dog from the same pound. When I checked out their Petfinder page, they had seven dogs listed. Sadly all of them were some form of a Pittie mix. In CT, specifically in the poorer section of towns, this dog is really over-bred and exploited. It’s very sad.
This little girl’s time is up tomorrow. She’s been used as a breeding dog, and has now been tossed aside.
There’s something in her expression that reminds me of Kolchak Puggle, her face just speaks to me.
Here is what the Petfinder page says about her:
Approx 3 years old. This sweet little girl is another throw away mom. She has obviously been used for breeding. She is a tiny thing, almost looks like a puppy! A sweet little pocket pit mix looking for a family to relieve her of what has been nothing but a stressful life of providing puppies. She is SO sweet and quite mellow but certainly loves her affection! Good with dogs she met. Would love to see her relaxing on a couch with a person, enjoying what life should be about for a dog.
The adoption fee for a CT resident is $50, and $5.00 for non-residents. Which doesn’t make sense to me, but who am I to argue if it saves a dog.
Today is the day I beg you to share this post on your social media outlets. We may not be able to save them all, but together we can save some.

She is adorable! I really don’t think I’ll ever understand how
people can treat animals so poorly.

Aw. I’ll definitely tweet this one. She does have a Kol kind of face. Here’s to finding her a good home quickly!

I just shared your link on my Facebook “page”. I sure hope it helps!! I have a cousin who lives in West Suffield with her family…Maybe, if she gets on FB today, she will share the link too.
I’m like “Grandma” — I don’t think I’ll ever understand either how people can be so cruel to a dog or any other animal.

$5.00 for non residents? Do they want her to be adopted out of state or is that a typo?
Heart Like A Dog says
It’s not a typo on my part Jan. I wondered if it had to do with them wanting less dogs in the state.
Genevieve says
She’s so cute! I hope she finds a family before time runs out. It feels weird to even type those words. How can time run out??? Ugh.

I hope she finds a loving home soon.

It is probably me and I’m crazy, but I don’t see a photo of the dog to pin. Surely will share otherwise, though.

I’m so happy that Little Miss No Name was adopted! I’ve shared this sweetie and hope she has the same good luck that Little Miss No Name did!

Does your husband know you’d consider dogs in lieu of rent? 🙂
I hope your local shelter’s pocket pittie finds as good a home as Bindi’s.
Blueberry's human says
Awww – hope she finds a home soon!
Someone once told me that “pocket” pit bulls aren’t a real breed. It’s a term backyard breeders use to try and sell their dogs. I dunno – I just get sick when I hear about people who try to use any gimmick they can to profit off of dogs. Those dogs usually end up like the one you have featured today. 🙁

Oh I hope she gets adopted like little no name did. How sad. Glad to hear you local shelter doesn’t have any to adopt out.
Molly The Wally says
That is so sad. We hope she is re homed extra quick. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

She is very cute and deserves a good home. I like that the adoption fee is reasonable. Maybe the low non-resident fee is to encourage people to take these dogs out-of-state? But probably it is some rule written somewhere that specifies the amount of the adoption fee for residents.

She is adorable. Do none of the dogs in that pound have names? Is there a reason for that? I had already shared her last night when Bringing Up Bella shared her on FB, and I am sharing her some more. It certainly seems like a good thing that your local pound didn’t have any dogs.
My friend is also a landlord, and says that allowing dogs is the best way to go. Love to see that.
All Things Collie says
That is so strange, that it’s cheaper to adopt if you live out of state! Are they hoping to reduce the pit bill population by encouraging out of state adoptions? Or are they hoping rescues might step in and pull the dogs?
I have to say, I wish more land lords were like you! I read of one Land lord once, who actually gave prospective tenants a discount on their rent if they had a rescue/shelter dog! 🙂
Dogs N Pawz says
Our little Pittie mix is the sweetest little dog ever, even though she keeps us busy! Shared! Gee, I hope she gets adopted. Breaks my heart.
Gizmo (@GizmoGeodog) says
I find it interesting that your tenant ID’d her as a mini bulldog…have you asked her if that was because they were afraid you wouldn’t accept a pittie? I have a good friend who did that because no apartment in boynton beach would rent to pits or pit mixes

Hmmmm….do you think it is cheaper for non-residents since they will probably have to pay some sort of transport fee?
Our shelters here are filled with pitties too. The purebred dogs often get scooped up by the rescue groups, while the pitties wait for a forever home that never comes. It is so very sad.
Kolchak, Felix & Jodi says
Oh that precious thing does look like a browner Koly! What a face! (Kol actually gets mistaken as pittie puppy on a ridiculously frequent basis.) I hope she’s found an awesome family.
