Today we join our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday
It’s a little of this, a little of that and everything in between….
Follow-up Friday –
You remember my good friend Jodi Chick? She co-hosted the blog hop with me a few weeks back and I’m happy to say, it didn’t scare her off. She’s back for another go and will be co-hosting with me tomorrow.
Jodi got royally screwed and I don’t mean by one of those handsome princes. No, Big Brother Google (the incestuous bum) screwed Jodi’s RSS feed when Google Reader went the way of the dodo. Jodi needs some help getting her readers back. If you don’t read Kol’s Notes you are really missing a great blog. So please hop on over and check them out. Oh and don’t forget to add her RSS feed to whatever reader you’re using.
I happen to be using Feedly right now and I was getting Kol’s Notes every day, but all of a sudden nothing! So if you’re a follower of Koly’s and haven’t been getting his posts, you may want to go back in and add them to your reader again. When I added the feed yesterday I had to add a /feed to the end of the web address and viola, I got Kol’s Notes back in my feed again!
Excessive Heat Warning-
Just like the rest of the country, we’re in the midst of a heat wave. The weather is so hot and humid, walking should be done early morning or later at night. Right now I’m keeping our walks short. Like 20 minutes short. It’s just too dangerous otherwise. Last night we walked the dogs at 9:00 pm and it was still 86 degrees out.
The good thing? There weren’t very many bugs!
Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest-
You remember the hastily put together Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest in October/November of last year? I decided in a moment of brilliance or stupidity to have a calendar contest that ended up benefiting some fellow bloggers. I threw the idea out, got some photos back and then I was lost. Thankfully I have an amazing blogville family and the extremely awesome and incredibly talented Julie from The Daily Dog Blog and Leg Up Creative Solutions threw herself in the water with me and handled every detail of the calendar design and production.
Every. Single. Detail.
Well my dears, Julie has agreed to once again assist with this calendar project. I hope to nail the specifics down and make an announcement next week with the contest guidelines. So if you’re planning on purchasing calendars this year, you may want to set some money aside.
And start looking through your photos.
For those who didn’t purchase a calendar last year, this is the beauty who has been gracing my wall these past 18 days.
You can see what a great job Julie did with designing the calendars, the material is good quality, the calendars are printed in the good ole US of A AND the modest price of the calendar included the shipping.
While I haven’t yet priced calendars this year, I expect them to fall within the $20 to $25 range, which should include shipping.
So stay tuned!
Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.

Glad to hear there weren’t many bugs at 9pm. I can’t imagine you doing your wood walks right now because anytime I get near a woods I get hammered with horseflys and I really can’t stand them buzzing around and landing in my hair. Stay cool and looking forward to more info about the calendar.

I’ve never been a reader fan. To overwhelming. So Jodi is on my blog roll. She won’t fall off of that. 🙂 And I go through the links on blog hops in which I participate, making it easy to keep up with people who are active.
Shh! Don’t say anything about the weather! We’re actually having decent July weather in Tulsa for the first time in decades. Now all we need is more rain.
Callie, Shadow and Ducky's Mom says
I’d be very happy to send you some rain if I knew how! We’ve had ONE day in the last 4 weeks when we had no rain at all. I feel like a mushroom!

I usually subscribe by email too. My real problem is remembering to subscribe, regardless of method. I read a blog… I like it… but then I close the page without remembering to subscribe before I go. Doh!
I only started blogging this year, so I didn’t catch last year’s calendar, but will be sure to keep my eyes open regarding the details for this year’s.

Sigh. This comment wasn’t intended to be in reply to Flea or Callie/Ducky/Shadow’s Mom… it was just intended as a general reply. I must’ve been scrolling and absent-mindedly hit the Reply button beneath Flea’s post.

Yes, we’re walking ours v early in the morning and they still need to jump in the paddling pool when they get back. You’re right about there being fewer bugs with this heat – we’re loving it!

Mom and I are so in the dark about that reader thing. We prefer emails so we never used the google reader but it sure sounds like a mess! Poor Jodi! We have the heat wave here but it should break with some storms tonight. Lots of napping going on at our house!

The heat here in Kansas is brutal, and we thought we were used to it coming from North Carolina. I am having to take the pup on her walks early in the morning or at night. Thank Goodness military installations are pretty safe that I can do that at night!

You have my sympathy re: the heat. It’s usually close ot 100 or better here with high humidity this time of year… but we’re, so far, having a cool summer. We sure could use some rain, though 🙂 Love that cute calendar holder of yours!

I also mostly get my blogs via email, but I’m in the process of switching to BlogLovin – but I’m not sure I’m going to love it. We’ll see…
Very fun about the calendar! Gonna comb through my Rita pics.

Thanks for participating in TNT! This heat is really getting to me. Is it Fall yet? 🙂
Wonderful that you are doing the calendar again. Its only July, so you have a nice jump on it. 🙂
I had to add one feed back in since the demise of Google Reader. I hope I am not missing more….

I’ve been telling everyone to move to California – low 80’s today, humidity around 10%…gotta love it. Psyched about the calendar – will get Jack in tip top shape for it and hope he gets selected.

This makes me wish I were not camera-phobic and had dogs that loved modeling, but I long ago gave up pictures which I know are worth 1000 words. Writing 1000 words is just easier for me. I finally got Feedly to work, thanks to several of you for the help, but I miss GR. I don’t like change, but that is the way of the world.

absolutely love it!

Thanks for the info on Kols page… I’ll make sure that I have it in my Feedly!! Now you have me all excited about the calendar!! 🙂

We’ve been walking early AM and late PM too. Last night was so buggy…Ma was chewed up by no-see-ums. Ick! So glad you will be doing the calendar again!

1. I’ll be glad to send you some bugs … hehe
2. I subscribe to blogs via email, too. I forget about the RSS feed 99.9% of the time and it doesn’t work on my Kindle anyway. (I hate having to drag out the laptop when the Kindle’s so much lighter!) Poor Jodi! Hope she’s got it fixed now, or soon.
3. Looking forward to another calendar contest! It’s gonna be tough picking out a favorite pic of Ducky Doodle! I just can’t seem to get a good one of all 3 girls together.

Wow – 86 degrees sounds pretty good to me!!
Yay – loved the calendar – it really is good quality and the photos are excellent!

Bloglovin’ did a good job for me…no feeds lost and Jodi’s is coming in daily…I’ll have to keep wathcing for updates on this year’s calendar…I missed last year
Donna says
How scary about your Jodi’s feed crapping out. Hope she gets all her readers back!
Jodi – you are so lucky it hasn’t been buggy by you. Right now we have the heat AND the bugs. Awesome that you are doing the calendars again this year. Can’t wait to see what charity you decide on. 🙂

Great reminder about walking in the heat. We’ve even been in the high 70’s to 80s here – which is pretty hot for us. If I don’t get up by 7 am to walk Chester and Gretel, I have to wait until after 7 pm.

The calendar looks great and I love the frame you have attached it to!
