We had one of the wettest June’s on record, I think it ranked in the top five with whoever it is that keeps those records. It seems like we get rain at least once a day.
How much rain have we had?
We’ve had so much rain that some of our paths still have water on them.
We’ve had so much rain that those paths without standing water are paths of muck.
We’ve had so much rain our little field suddenly sprouted a multitude of mushroom villages, seemingly overnight.
We’ve had so much rain, leaves pushed into piles by the force of rushing water, are still damp, making walking treacherous at times.
And when it’s not the rain, it’s the humidity.
How humid is it?
Towels used to dry the dogs that normally dry overnight on the screen porch, are still damp 24 hours later.
Walking the dogs for even half an hour results in rivulets of sweat streaming off my body.
You feel like you need a shower after your shower.
I guess it could be worse, I hear they’re getting scorched in the western part of the country.
How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Any tips for helping us cope?

It could always be worse….did you forget the MOUNTAINS of snow you had last year? 🙂
We are having a decent amount of rain here in Michigan too….it is going to be warm and humid the next few days. I’ll gladly take rain/some heat and humidity instead of the 100+ degrees they are having out West!

We are happy to say that as of about a week ago the rain finally stopped, the humidity died down and we have ideal weather! Hopefully that will push east towards you!

I need tips on how to cope with the over abundance of rain also. We have had record rain too. Great collection of rain/trail pictures. Get your rubber duckie out and enjoy life!

It’s been wicked hot in Portland 🙂 Luckily, not a lot of humidity and we try not to complain because we enjoy seeing the sun! I hope July is a good month for you!
Jessica says
We’re in the scorching zone, although we’re due to get more normal weather soon.
We’d happily take some of that rain, though. We have the opposite problems–the house is being invaded by bugs who are searching for water, and the parks are a dustbowl.
Sue at Talking Dogs says
Our weather is strange, too. Unusually cool… in the 70’s. Most 4th of July temps in the past approached or were over 100! Lots of thunderstorms with wicked lightening, but very little rain. Blow some of that wet stuff our way 😉

Yes, it could be worse, like it is out west. But I feel your pain. I think that rain and humidity has stretched from Maine all the way down to the Florida Keys. I know we had more than our own normal rainfall these last few weeks. Thankfully, the humidity hasn’t been all that bad YET…we’ve had a few days here and there. To cope with it, I just stay inside as much as possible. The treadmill is a lifesaver on days like these! I break it up into 15-minute sessions so as not to overdo it for Callie, and it keeps my own boredom levels in check. And when it’s not raining, I let the girls roam around the yard for a while and watch them while sitting in my lawn chair in the carport. When the bugs come out, we go in. Right now, both girls are lying on the floor in front of me sound asleep. And I have to get back to reading my course material for my CEP course…I hope I don’t wake them up! Shhhhhhhhh

LOL that looks like our park all Winter. At least it wasn’t humid here. Stay dry if you can. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly

Don’t you wish that the rain could be SPREAD all over the country… instead of just in some spots and others being TOO DRY.
Jackie Bouchard says
Isn’t it crazy how some spots are getting too much rain and others need it SO badly. If only there was a way to get the wet stuff where it’s needed!
That doesn’t look like fun walking. We’ve been really lucky here. Just a wee bit to the east of us it’s been very hot, but we’ve had some weird morning fog (much heavier than our usual ‘marine layer’ that we get) which has been helping keep the temps down. Nice walking weather. Hope your weather improves. Walking in muck doesn’t appeal!

Rain, rain and rain here. I planted sunflowers last week to make me happy but they need sun to grow! So sad!
houndstooth says
We’re in the same boat with you! If we get any more rain, the dogs and I are going to start riding around the canals of town instead of walking. Places that used to be cornfields have become lakes! I guess I’m not much help in the coping department!

We’re seeing similar conditions in upstate NY.
Monday the rain was so heavy I saw a moving stream along my basement foundation wall. When I moved my bike away, I saw 4 weep holes in my foundation spurting water in.
The underground storm systems was overwhelmed and pushed water into the basement. The only thing that would have made it more scary would be if I were living on a boat. 🙂
Just remember to take life slow and easy. People who live in hot an humid clients do a lot less with their afternoons than we do in the NE.

We’re more damp and humid and occasional drizzle around here. But there are weird crops of strange, mutant mushrooms here and there. Eeeewwww.

Our weather has been cool. Some rain, but not terrible. Better than last year’s drought.
I hate humidity. Give me cool dry air. 🙂

We live in an irrigated desert area in California. We have had 100+ days which are not abnormal, but we are having humidity. I had forgotten how uncomfortable humidity can be. I really don’t mind the heat but when outside is like a sauna, I don’t go out much. Walks for us are out for a while. The dogs go out, do their business and come back in. I knew they didn’t need to do all that sniffing to find the perfect spot. I just knew it.

It was super rainy here the week we were gone on vacation. It’s rained a bit since, but is hot and (apparently; I don’t notice it as much) humid. Surrounding communities have still had flood warnings and stuff, it’s kind of a bummer.
A Husky Life says
Ours was very rainy too, but after this past week’s heatwave everything is bone dry….It did make for a very humid and unpleasant heatwave! (Not that there are any pleasant ones….I suppose it’s time to move further North!)
Basil says
Send some sun my way? Typist has had the heating on in her car for the last two mornings!!
Stay safe – slippy paths are never good!

Yikes, that sure is a lot of rain and the humidity doesn’t sound like any fun either 🙁
Here in California we had 100+F for days last week (and at the same time our a/c broke – not fun!) – But now that the a/c is fixed the weather has cooled to pleasant 80+F degree days and a little breeze, so I’m a happy doggy!
I hope you get similar weather soon 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

We had a cool snap but it has been rainy and humid most days. My way of coping laying in a room with my dogs and air conditioning 😉
