What I love best about the Tuesday’s Tails blog hop is the opportunity to help an animal in shelter or rescue find a home where they can live out their days surrounded by love.
What I don’t like is perusing Petfinder looking for a dog to showcase. It just breaks my heart to see so many pets that are homeless. And sometimes I just get angry when I read their stories and it’s also when I pull on my judgy pants. And I can’t help it.
Take Regal for example, his owner’s relocated and couldn’t take him with them.
This to me is unfathomable, I would never move somewhere where my pets could not go with me. I would sleep in a tent if I had to. There I said it and may I just say, I hate sleeping in tents.
The petfinder page didn’t offer a lot of information about Regal, just that he is house-trained, knows some commands and of course would love a home of his own.
Regal is currently at the Humane Society in Walden, NY.
Normally I don’t ask people to share my posts. I assume (perhaps unwisely on my part) that if you think I’ve got something particularly good to say that you will share it. But I bend that rule on this blog hop. My goal is to help animals find their forever homes and that means I will do what is necessary to accomplish this. So please, please share.
Thank you to Lisa from Dogs N Pawz, she is the genius behind this blog hop.
This is Tuesday’s Tails. The Blog Hop that features shelter animals.

Poor baby. You know when I was stationed in Germany, they would not let American Soldiers adopts pets locally because some Soldiers would get orders to go to another assignment and they would just abandon the dogs! I never understood this because after all the effort and love you give a dog, there is no way I would just abandon them. By the way, I’m a Soldier who tried to adopt a dog, which is how I know. 🙁

Poor Regal. I don’t understand why it is so easy for people to give their pets up? I am a true believer that if I am going to have a pet I am going to take care of them no matter what happens. They are like my children and I would never give my children up. Call me crazy but oh well! I don’t think you linked up to the hop and I think you have last week’s code instead of this week’s! Just thought I would let you know so others will visit. Regal needs to be shared!!!!! Thanks for joining and I’m off to share!

We hope Regal finds a new home soon. How sad to leave behind such a lovely animal. Sorry we don’t get it either. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

Some people give up pets because they cannot be bothered, I am sure. But I bet there are people who would love to take pets and cannot. The economy is such that sometimes people do what they have to do to provide for their families. I hope Regal finds a great home.

I have to admit, I get judgy on thus subject too. I work with a woman you gave away her 12 year old dog because she had a baby. 🙁 it seems to me she could have figured out how to keep a baby and a 12 year old, 10lb dog separated so the dog didn’t have to leave the only home he had ever known..
I just don’t get it. Poor Regal deserves better.

Regal is a beauty. How is ‘No dogs allowed’ not deal breaker #1 when looking for a place to live. I know it was for me. So sad.

Jeepers, poor Regal. I hate stories where owners had to relocate and couldn’t take their pet with them. Ma is with you…she’d sleep in a tent if that was the only way to keep me (though she doesn’t mind…we all go tent camping anyway). I’ll keep my paws crossed that Regal finds a new loving home soon!

I personally think it is a cop out – I know that I would never move anywhere that I could not live with my animals and if I was moving overseas, I would find them a home, I sure as hell would not leave them in a shelter. Poor baby – I hope he finds someone to love him the way he should be loved.

It’s heartbreaking for me to look at all the adorable Chihuahuas in shelters because they or their parents were part of a fad that is no longer “in.” But I love it when the dog I’ve showcased and asked others to share is no longer listed at the site. I think people just need to see real dogs with real stories to decide to give them a forever home.

I had a particular pooch to talk about today, but unfortunately time was not on my side at all today. I just about got home from dropping Ducky off at daycare and took my shower when Sam got home to pick me up to go to his doctor appointment with him. And it was downhill the rest of the day. So I’ll just say this: I get angry too when I see situations like Regal’s. I put my “judgy pants” on too. And, maybe they have a legitimate reason for leaving him behind; but for Pete’s sake, at least ask a trusted friend or family member to take care of the dog until you can find a place to live that will let you have him. The little guy I wanted to post about today has been at the same shelter where I found Ducky during my externship. He’s listed as a pit mix, but his face and ears remind me of Ducky’s. I told Sam that if we had the physical space, I’d have gone over there and taken him as a foster just to make sure he got out of there, and then found a rescue group to take him. I’m praying someone else can get him. It’s a high-kill shelter and quite frankly I worry about his chances.

Regal looks like a senior dog. My favorite kind of dog. Hoping he gets a home soon. Poor peanut.

Hi Jodi,
I feel so bad for Regal, I totally don’t get how anyone can do that to an animal…. My Mum thinks it should be harder to have the privilege of being a pet parent and you should be registered and agree to be responsible for that animal forever, it’s just too easy for people to dump animals when they don’t fit in anymore 🙁
Off to share,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

It’s a sad excuse for handing in a dog.
