After I left the house for work I thought, oh crap the garbage is full (and stinky) and I forgot to put the chair in front of the cabinet. She’s going to go in the garbage.
Oddly Hubby and I arrived home at the same time, let me go in first I said, I’m pretty sure she’s been in the garbage.
There was stuff all over the living room floor alright, but it wasn’t from the garbage. She’d found a box of Bisquick and eaten what was left of the contents. Best guess? 2 cups of Bisquick.
I called the vet (I swear, they must cringe when the caller ID shows my name) they didn’t seem to think it was anything to worry about but she might have a little gastro distress.
Well that was an understatement.
The smell in the car on the way to our walk was disgusting. Something smells like shit Hubby said.
Another understatement. I wish she’d gotten into the syrup maybe then it would have smelled like pancakes.
On our walk she was eating grass, good she’ll puke and the smell will go away.
She didn’t. It didn’t.
Bedtime rolls around.
About 12:30 I feel this thump on the mattress next to my body, blearily I open my eyes and see Sampson staring at me, I stumble to the door and both dogs go outside.
I wait five minutes and check on them, here comes Delilah but Sampson is just lying on the deck. I coax him in and we go back to bed.
Three more times I’m awakened by Sampson thumping his head on the mattress. I finally thought maybe he’s hot, I got up and opened the bedroom door, crawled back into bed. Delilah growls as my foot slides past her.
At 2:30 the thump comes again. I’m tired and I’m pissed. I grab my pillow and a blanket and head out to the living room. I notice there’s no water in the dog’s bowl so I fill it up. Sampson takes a drink.
I throw my blanket down on the floor and turn to grab the pillow and Sampson lies on the blanket. I grab another blanket, wrap myself in it and lay down next to him. With one hand under his head and one on his belly we finally fall asleep.

About 4:30 he gets up and goes to lay on the couch. I grab my pillow and head back to bed only to find my spot taken by Stinky. I coax her a bit and she stretches out, head facing the foot of the bed. I slide in and she growls again.
Whatever, I’m dead tired and I need some sleep.I close my eyes and feel a pulse against my leg, then another and another, what’s that my sleep deprived mind asks?
And then I smell it.
I open my eyes and realize her ass is about a foot and a half from my face. I think, Cripes, she’s farting against my leg and I’m breathing in her ass gas. I’m probably burning my lungs out.
I grab my pillow and back to the living room and curl up on the couch.

Which is where Hubby found me when he got up at 6:00 am.
This is the Monday Mischief Blog hop hosted by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog and My Brown Newfies.

Isn’t this amazing! All our pets seem to become
our children. We lose as much sleep as if they were!
All things collie says
Do you think Sampson ate the Bisquick too? You probably didn’t appreciate the humor of the situation, but it made me laugh!

It is amazing the things mom does for us! She sleeps on our dog beds with us sometimes, hangs out with us on the floor. Walks us up and down the road in the middle of the night when we are sick. She is not happy when she is up all night because of us but she does it because she loves us. You are a good doggy mom!
Elyse and Riley says
Oh man! What a night. Hopefully her farts will go away soon. See, even Sampson couldn’t bear to be in the same stinky room as her! How your husband slept through it is beyond me! 🙂
Sue @ The Golden Life says
Bless your heart!!! Bad girl, Delilah, making stinkies in Mom’s face. Hope you’re feeling better now so your Mom can get some sleep tonight!
What I want to know is who took the picture of you & Sampson on the floor? The camera fairy, maybe? Sam would never get up to do it for me…..he’d be too busy snoring and waking the dead! 🙁 One of these days I have to put a videocam up here in the living room!
caren Gittleman says
I think you may need to baby gate your kitchen like I do. Dakota isn’t permitted in there, less aggravation!
Peggy Frezon says
Hope she’s feeling better very soon. It’s sweet that you comforted her when she didn’t feel well.
Coralee says
Oh, Delilah! Here’s to a better night tonite (for all!!!)
Blueberry's human says
Hilarious!
I wonder if the vet office staff quickly place their bets on what you are calling about when they see your number pop up? 😉
Animalcouriers says
It’s great shame you can’t sleep with a clothes peg on your nose 😉
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
LMAO! You are such a better dog Mom than me! I would of totally closed my door and after the first wake-up!
Molly The Wally says
BOL we feel for you. Our Mac computer is three flights upstairs and we took a week off blogging and put up some old posts as you can imagine what is was like all week with the dogs being ill and Pip half blind having to be carried downstairs mid accident. Rather forget. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Ah, the joys of dog ownership. My dogs never do anything this funny. You really should write a book that might make the rest of us appreciate our own dogs more. 🙂
houndstooth4 says
OMG! I’m sitting here during naptime at school trying not to bust out laughing and wake the kids up! I’m dying here!
If it makes you feel any better, we’ve been there!
Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comes says
Yeah, I’ve done my time with stinky scavengers. If Honey’s successor is another one, I’m gonna have a rude awakening. 🙂
Genevieve says
Sounds to me like they shared the Bisquick a little bit. Tummy aches stink. Literally and figuratively. You are such a good, patient mom. I hope tonight is nothing but undisturbed zzzzzzzs.
Jackie Bouchard says
Oh my goodness. What a night. I haven’t slept on the floor with one of our pups except for when Abby had her leg amputated. (Momma don’t give up her spot in the bed except for EXTREME situations!)
Hope all this has passed, so to speak.
Texas, a cat in New York says
Looks like someone wants to have the best Monday Mischief around 😉

Ok sorry to laugh but that was great! I love the recreating photos! So why was Sampson so needy? I thought maybe it would end up he was the one getting into the bisquik. How old is Delilah? She sounds like my Gambler, he is going to turn 2 and is wrecking everything! Norman will growl at me when my feet hit him also. He thinks it is one of the other dogs, but no it is I and shut up or get off the bed!
2 brown dawgs says
I am laughing so hard I am crying. The recreated photos are the finishing touch. 🙂
Roxy the traveling dog says
Oh no!! What an awful night. I hope you get to catch up on your sleep.
snoopy@snoopysdogblog says
You clearly really loves those guys! I’m wondering how long it will take for you to laugh at the mischief?
Oh and by the way, next time can’t you take the shots as the action happens? Tee Hee – Just kidding 🙂
Big wags,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
Okay I can barely see to type I am laughing so hard, I think maybe Sampson was trying to tell you something about Stinky 😉 Awesome post!!
Sue at Talking Dogs says
You’ve made me cry, I’m laughing so much. So, hubby slept through all the stinkbombs? Sounds so much like home…
Mango Momma says
Well of course you slept on the couch, on the floor, wherever you were needed. I hope the pancake mix has worked itself out by now. Dog farts can be toxic. At least it feels that way sometimes.

Tracy Campbell (Indy) says
Sorry to hear you had such a rough night. That’s motherhood for you. 🙂
Dogs N Pawz says
I know it wasn’t funny for you, but it made me laugh! I hate those nights when my dogs keep me up all night but we would do anything for our babies!
Basil says
Wow you are such an amazing mum!
Julie says
Oh geez – those pups certainly know who to wake up! Lucky for me, I am a pretty deep sleeper, so hubby is the one that gets up with Cali. I am the one that gets to get up at 3:00 in the morning to feed the cat that won’t leave me alone (said cat knows better than to bug my hubby . . .he knows he’ll get tossed!) Hope they are both feeling better!
H and Flo says
Oh my goodness, this made me laugh out loud! So Stinky and Needy aren’t the name of the newest dwarves?!
Mary Ann says
Never a dull moment!
Donna says
Oh Delilah. Again?????
Maybe Sampson was just trying to escape the smell???
dogdaz says
You are the best Mom!
Leslie says
Seriously – isn’t it amazing that the husbands manage to sleep through all the overnight shenanigans? Sorry you had a poor night’s sleep but I’m laughing here at your expense anyway. 😉 Glad to hear D is okay though.
