Vermont Soap Giveaway

April 24, 2013 By Jodi

Last November, Hubby, Sampson, Delilah and I went to New Hampshire to visit my sister and her Hubby.

One of my favorite things to do in New Hampshire, besides spend quality time with my sister is to shop.  My sister lives in a small town of less than 6,000 people.  There’s a handful of big name businesses, but the majority of businesses are local mom and pop stores and I find the neatest things.

Which is how I happened to find an all natural, organic pet shampoo made by Vermont Soap.  I picked up a bottle to use on Sampson and Delilah.

I fell in love with it the moment I used it.  I loved it so much I thought it would be nice to provide a product review and giveaway.  I contacted Vermont Soap and they were kind enough to provide me with a package of goodies to try, as well as a bottle of shampoo for one of my readers.

The shampoo is a blend of essential oils and the first thing I noticed was the smell.  The shampoo has a strong smell of tea tree oil, with a hint of citrus.  It’s a very pleasant smell so much so, I find myself wishing it was a candy so I could pop one in my mouth.

I got a little nervous when I poured it in my hand as the consistency is very thin.  I was concerned I would end up using a lot, but that was not the case at all.

It lathered up nice, rinsed out well and left my dogs smelling nice and clean.

The ingredients: Saponified organic coconut , olive and jojoba oils, natural essential oil blend including tea tree and organic orange oil, organic aloe vera and rosemary extract.

Sampson WET So you’re saying because I’m dirty and wet, I need a bath?

What I liked:

  • Non-toxic (no chemicals or harmful ingredients) in case of accidental ingestion drink milk or water.
  • Organic (no pesticides or chemicals)
  • Smells great
  • Lathers up nice
  • Rinses well
  • Reasonably priced ($9.98 for 16 oz)

What I didn’t like:

  • There’s actually only one thing that comes to mind. When I inquired about what exactly was a “natural essential oil blend” I was told it was proprietary and they couldn’t tell me. I understand the reasoning, I would just like to know exactly what types of oil are being used.  I work hard to build and maintain a trusting relationship with my readers and want to make sure I’m not steering you wrong.

My contact at Vermont Soap sent me a lovely package of non-toxic products which I’m currently using.  I hope to have a review of those products for you in a couple of weeks.

What about you?  Would you like to try this organic, non-toxic shampoo on your pet?  All you have to do is leave me a comment by Sunday at midnight and  I’ll use random.org and draw a winner, which I’ll announce next Monday.

Oh and if you don’t want to wait, the shampoo is currently 25% off on their website.

Disclaimer: I originally purchased my own bottle of shampoo, but I was provided a beautiful package of products to try in exchange for my honest review.

Sure, I’d love to try it on Callie & Shadow — if I win it, I’ll just bring it with me when I have their groomer do their “spa treatments” next time. (Ducky gets her grooming at daycare.)

I’d like to try it! Always looking for good shampoo for Gracie and Henri, but with so many out there… well it’s difficult to choose!
    Will check out website too!

PS. Don’t worry about the proprietary blend answer…those of us who have been following your blog understand. Companies are like that when it comes to protecting their creations. In this day and age they HAVE TO BE protective of those kinds of things. Your credibility with all of us is safe.

I love the smell of tea tree oil and citrus oil is supposed to be good for flea prevention so yes I would love to try this out

It sounds like a great product, but for allergy dogs, I would want to know all of the ingredients. I don’t have the issue, but I know people who do and they are very careful what they use to wash their dogs.

PS we don’t bathe our dogs very often so it would sit on the shelf here…lol.

Looks great. Since I grew up in Vermont, I know it must be something good! We just bathed Kelly last week and she smells so nice now. We’d love to be entered into your contest, thank you.

Sounds good, but that would mean I would need a bath and I surely don’t want to promote that idea in my house. It sure looks cool in that bottle, though!

Sounds like a great product but don’t worry about us as we are in the UK. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

Just like with Bush’s Beans..and Col. Sanders KFC…. some thingys the company just MUST keep Secret… They are in very small amounts when you consider the entire set of ingredients…

although we would NOT want the Baff… we KNOW we WILL need one some day soon… so YES we would LOVE to win somethingy that works and SMELLS grrreat. THANKS

That sounds great! I’ve bought a variety of different dog shampoos over the years and my daughter (who is my designated dog bath assistant and treat dispenser) always complains about the flowery scents – and I’m pretty sure Finn’s not a big fan either! I’d love one scented with essential oils!

I love when I find natural products for not only myself but the fogs too. Funny I just told Rival the other day she was a stinky dog…lol

Okay that’s what I get for using my phone, I mean dogs not fogs. I could care less if the fogs use natural stuff…lol

That sounds like a good shampoo, we too prefer to use natural things for both dogs and humans. At our home, we don’t bath dogs very often so we don’t want to take away an opportunity for someone to win. It is nice of you to have a give-away for those that do give baths, even though most of the dogs probably aren’t too thrilled about it.

This sounds like a nice product. I wonder if it would help with Rogue’s allergy itchies?

This shampoo will help. We just released a new Hot Spot Oil for pets as well. It is designed to treat irritated itchy spots on pets. Try it out, I think your dog will be very happy!
