Friday when I took the dogs for a walk I noticed Sampson has been licking at his paw again. π
He had licked it so much, I was afraid another day or two of licking and it would be bleeding.
Unfortunately his appointment with the Holistic Vet is not until the 12th of April, so I decided to wrap it.
I went into the medicine box and lo and behold I found a bottle of Vetericyn VF for wound and skin care.Β The directions say to apply three to four times per day, you can use either with or without wrapping.
I opted to wrap it, to keep him from licking it off.
He doesn’t care for it at all, but it keeps him from licking it.
I’ve watched him closely both in the house and on our walks.Β He is not favoring his paw, he’s not limping or complaining about it.Β In fact he is running and jumping as he always has.
I’m not sure exactly what is going on with it, whether it hurts and he’s very good at hiding his discomfort, or if he’s licking out of habit.Β But until we know, I’ll be keeping a sharp eye (and a bandage) on it.
We also found out our friend Cali from The Daily Dog Blog is feeling under the weather.Β If you have a minute stop by and show her Mama Julie so love.Β She’s really worried about Cali.
Feel better soon Cali!Β We love you!!

Poor Sampson. Could he have scrapped it on some hard snow and is now just licking out of habit? There seems to be a lot of paw injuries around this year due to all of the hard snow. Hope he is better soon!

My Kayla gets that from time to time, but hers are from allergies….what type of bandage is that…can he get it if…I’d like to put it on Luke’s tail…he’s still chewing that lump and if doesn’t get cleared up By the time I go to ny, I am opting to have it removed

Poor Sampson – I hope it’s not a hot spot! Cali would never keep that wrap on . . she would have to be under 24 hour surveillance! Thanks for thinking of me and Cali – we went to see her this morning but she was definitely still not feeling well π I think I am having sympathy pains- now my tummy hurts! I hope Sampson’s paw is better soon!!

My sister did a paw licking thing on her front paw the end of December. It is a bad spot because she could get to it even with a cone. Our vet said to leave it unwrapped as air would heal it faster than anything so we just has to keep a constant eye on her all the time and at night to be safe she had to wear a shoe on that paw. It did heal in about a week. Good luck!

Oh my Foxy is sick today too π
Must be a bug going around π
Feel better Sampson & Cali!

Poor pup π I hope the stuff and the wrap help his paw get better. Some dogs can habitually/obsessively lick; I don’t know if this is a problem he has.

Poor guy. He looks a bit bummed about that bandage!
We left a comment for Cali. Hope all the pups get well soon!

Wrapping up Samson’s paw is the best thing you could have done for him – even if he objects to it! Hopefully when his fur has a chance to grow over the spot, he will stop licking it and break the habit, if that’s what it is.
Going to pop over to Cali’s place now.
Dogs N Pawz says
Hope Sampson’s paw is better!
Doggy's Style says
I hope is nothing serious.
Doggy had a thing on his head, I call him now rotten head. I got worried when I saw pus, you know, being a furry beast is hard to spot things specially when he doesn’t complain. Turned out to be a simple scratch, he’s now find but a bit bald.

Hope it is nothing serious with his paw. Good that you had stuff at home to try – maybe it’ll fix him right up.
