Today we’re joining 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.
This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post. It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!
Dogs are opportunists.
Just ask anyone who has ever left the door to their garbage cabinet open, only to return and find garbage strewn hither and yon.
I’m trying to live this year with a heart like a dog. No, that doesn’t mean I’m playing in garbage.
It means when the combination of getting home a few minutes early, coupled with the later sunsets provided an opportunity to hit the trails, Sampson, Delilah and I jumped at it.
The dogs were excited to be out sniffing and exploring.
I know there are deer around here somewhere.
We had rain here a couple of days ago and then a cold spell, which means the snow froze. Walking on frozen snow is just as challenging as walking on fresh snow. On the well-worn paths, the trail was a bit uneven, but it held our weight. When we deviated from the path, our feet sank.
Click on any of the pictures to enlarge them.
We had thirty-five glorious minutes taking in the sights, smells and serenity of the woods. I can honestly say we all returned home, with joy in our hearts and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
Heart Like A Dog Lesson: Don’t let a good opportunity pass you by.
Yup, the time suck is at it again, but this time I thought I’d share it with you. It’s totally non-dog related (but involves our military which in my book is fair game) and it definitely put a smile on my face.
That’s it for this edition of This ‘N That Thursday. Many thanks to our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs blog for allowing us to join them.

The photos are beautiful…your one dog I thought was donnas Toby. Lol
Love taking the dogs in the snow….I have a pulling harness for Luke…To pull a sled…Kayla is afraid of the noise, but it doesn’t seem to bother him…he’s a big working gsd with a tremendous second coat, I put my granddaughter on the sled when i can and they both have a ball

What a wonderful way to make use of an opportunity. Lovely pics.
So, anybody get the number of that platoon? I might just want to call them, maybe. 😉
I have to say though, my most favorite parody of that song remains the one done by the NH ASPCA called “Adopt Me, Baby”. Here:

We agree, grab the moment and enjoy. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

We love grabbing the moments–your photos are great.
You asked about Gracie. I don’t think the shots have helped a lot. I think the arthritis is too advanced. 🙁 We just want to keep her comfortable and out of pain. Thanks for asking.

It all looks so magical and wonderful. I’m glad you grabbed the opportunity and got out there.

“Dogs are opportunists.” Hahaha! Sooooo true!! I’m still laughing, thinking of Ducky and her constant search for opportunities to sucker “Daddy” into spoiling her rotten!
Your pix are beautiful! I’m jealous — our snow started melting almost as soon as it stopped falling.

Great photos and I truly enjoyed the video as well!

The video cracked me up 🙂

Looks beautiful out…we have had lots of melt re-freeze this winter too. I am light enough to stay mostly on top, my sister sinks once and a while and mom always sinks in…Hopefully we will get more fluffy stuff tonight to make it more fun again!

Gotta say, a little disappointed that we won’t get to see any pics of you being doggish and digging through the garbage! 😉 You crack me up!
Love the pink clouds! Every time I try to get those pink cloud pictures the clouds always look orange! What is your secret?
Jodi Stone says
I shut the flash off. I wonder if that made a difference?

Hilarious video 🙂
Love your pictures – and a great doggish-attitude to take up, being an opportunist in the best of ways.

Love your pictures. Wish we would get some snow like that! Ours is always very little and gone by the afternoon. Oh well! Liked that video too!
Kristine says
I am glad you took your plan to heart and went out to enjoy the sunshine! It means I get to look at all your pretty pictures. 🙂 I am loving the later sunsets as well, though I still haven’t been able to get out at night with the dog before dark. Soon. Very, very soon.

Nothing like footprints in the snow….add to that some romping dogs….add to that a sunset…well, you’ve got a great evening. And a great picture!

Thanks for participating in TNT. 🙂 Lucky you getting a nice walk in and being able to take such great pictures.
I hate when the snow gets too crunchy. This time of year is usually when Thunder tends to rip a nail or slice a pad on the sharp snow. Of course it wouldn’t keep us home either. 🙂
Great video!

Hi Y’all!
I love evening walks. Love pink clouds and sunsets. Oh so beautiful…I can almost smell the air and feel the crispness and hear the serenity.
Y’all come back now,

Wonderful photos Jodi. My favorite is the first one, with the sun reflecting on the clouds.
Our snow is crusted in ice too….I have to be careful how far I throw the toys for Toby and Leah…it is like a skating rink and they are not faring well. (Meadow is preferring the indoors and the comforts of a house with a heater right now until the temps go up another ten degrees!)

In-the-moment is the BEST place to be! Good for you!

We have deer in our yard every once in a while, and Lila certainly likes to guard her territory. I enjoyed seeing your pictures! It’s great exercise walking on ice.
