Love, loyalty, courage, kindness, forgiveness. These are just a few of the words that pop into my head when I think about the qualities I see in the hearts of my canine companions.
When I chose the name of this blog, my intention was to learn from my furry pals. Learn to live more in the now and less in the past.
To embrace and enjoy the simple things in life, and not to worry about something that may or may not happen.
To be enthusiastic about learning new things, and exploring new opportunities.
To not let obstacles deter me from the path I’ve chosen.
To be thankful for the gifts in my life and not worry about what others around me have or are doing.
To not worry about what others might think of me and allow myself to enjoy the things I enjoy.
There’s a saying that goes something along the lines of, Help me to be the person my dog thinks I am.
In other words, I want to learn to live my life with a heart like a dog.
When I first read about the one word project on Gizmo’s blog, I knew immediately what my word should be.
This week I contacted Melanie from Only a Breath, she’s agreed to make free buttons for anyone participating in the One Word project.
It took me a while, but I finally figured out how to add the button to my side bar. You’ll see it about half-way down the page.
My word is:
And that means that I intend to put my Heart into everything I attempt this year, to be loving, loyal, courageous, kind and forgiving.
To think with my heart and not with my head, even if that means I get hurt along the way. To live up to the name of this blog.
I’d love it if you took this journey with me, but I understand if you choose not to.
Either way, I’m living this year with my heart, how will you choose to live?
What would your one word be? What kind of traits do you see in your furry pals that you’d like to emulate?

wonderful post…I would have to give this one a lot more thought….for what my “one” word would be…..possibly “relax”
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
I think you already put your heart into all that you do, at least the way that’s the way I see it!
I have no idea what my one word would be……hmmmmm.

I loved this heartfelt post. But to choose one word from the thousands of English words we have grown to love, must give this much thought.

We love the word Heart! Mom listens to my heart all the time. She thinks she hears her old dog Smoki in there. I cuddle up with Mom so I can hear her heart, too. You definitely “get” the HeartLikeADog. Even though you’re not a dog, you will be successful at living like one! It’s fun! My word would be Courage. I need courage a lot, because things scare me all the time.
Love and licks,

Lovely word and I can’t think of a better direction in which one’s life should be focused. It also suits the relationship you have with your dogs, and with your blog readers, perfectly.
I actually signed up for this over a month ago but I have yet to post about it; mostly because I am a chicken and if I post about it then I will have to follow through. 😛

I’ll join you in this One Word Project! My one word is “Patience”. While “Heart” is an excellent choice, especially considering all it encompasses, my own patience level needs work in many areas of life. I need to be more patient with other drivers when I’m on the road; I need to be more patient with Ducky when she’s showing her demonic side; and I need to be more patient with myself. Count me in, my friend.

Very nice your word is great and you capture the heart and gifts of dogs perfectly. The thing I most admire in my dogs and emulate is their ability to live in the moment, something I utterly lack. I especially find myself dwelling on the future with my older babies and worrying about their loss. My word would be moment because I want to learn to live in the moment like htem

I totally understand your worry about losing them. Sampson is nine this year and I feel like time is pulling him away from me. It can consume me on some days. So yes, I understand wanting to live in the moment. Gentle hugs my friend.

I think my one word would be “frazzled.” 🙁
And I’m reporting you for doggie porn.

Jodi, a very heartfelt post. Hmm…I’ll have to give your question some thought. 🙂

Pawesome post and word!!!! My word would be fearless. I think I’d accomplish a lot more and be way happier if I didn’t focus so much on what could go wrong.

That’s an awesome word to live by Jodi! 🙂
I think you already do a good job of living up to the title of this blog.
