Today we once again join our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday. Some days there’s a little of this or a little of that, but not enough for a full post.
Thank you 2 Brown Dawgs!
Let’s Pretend
Let’s pretend that I’m like Jen at My Brown Newfies and that I actually think in advance to buy props and stage a Valentine’s day photo shoot.
Let’s pretend that once I’ve taken the photo, I can actually use a graphic image program to tweak that photo just a tiny bit.
Are you getting this?
Good!
Let’s pretend that this is a really awesome photo showing my dogs lying together in the shape of a heart.
Are you done laughing?
Okay, then I promise I’ll do better next year.
Unless I don’t.
Snow challenges
Sampson and Delilah have a little yard routine they do when they hear or sense someone or something outside. Our yard is pretty large and normally they run out the door, down the deck stairs and up along the fence line. I call this synchronized running and if they ever offer it in the dog Olympics, I’m entering my two. (One day I hope to capture it on video, because it really is amazing.)
Then they station themselves at some point along the fence and observe or bark at whatever they please.
And there are other days when they burst out the door and one runs the fence line, while the other one runs up the stairs. I guess this is their Hawaii Five-0 “you go this way, I’ll go that way” approach.
Our back yard is mostly hill. Up hill as you may or may not be able to see from the photo. The dogs can get back there either by running the fence line or by the stairs in the back.
After Charmo hit, there was no place for the dogs to potty, so Hubby used the snow blower and made a path around the house and a small area off the deck, but he didn’t blow along the fence line.
While the snow is beginning to melt, there is still a lot of it!
These are the stairs up back, I haven’t had a chance to shovel them yet.
So the other morning when Sampson got his dander up and charged out the door I said, “Where you gonna go?” Then I laughed as I watched him run from one side of the house to the other via the snow blown path.
This morning however, I noticed Delilah tentatively (VBP) picking her way down the fence line. Apparently the snow has melted enough for her to attempt the backyard.
Hold tight, I’m still working on that video. 🙂
Many thanks from our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.
Do you plan photo shoots for your dogs? What kind of programs do you use to watermark or tweak your photos?

Love the Valentine photo!!

The programs I use that are SUPER easy are http://www.ribbet.com (formerly picknik) and http://www.picmonkey.com
If I can use them, ANYONE can. They are SUPER easy!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Haha love your Valentine’s photo. Photoshop or picmonkey is my friend! Hopefully the snow will melt before you have to shovel. 🙂
Thanks for joining TNT. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

Yes, I’m still laughing — but with you rather than at you. I’m not a graphics artist either, or a writer. I’m a dog trainer in training — like Lauren at Life with Desmond — and my feeble attempts at art of any kind aren’t even laughable.
Fence running has always been Callie’s & Shadow’s favorite “sport”, too; but we’ve got a bunch of exposed tree roots up in the back that they occasionally run into/over the wrong way and come in limping. So then I have to restrict their activity for a week or so. Every now & then I send hubby out there with the tree trimmers to pull out the dead roots to make a smoother path.

You are so nice to make a path for the dogs! My mom lets us blaze our own trail through all the deep snow. Luckily my sister is a big dog so I can follow her around but it is not easy and we also have to figure out the bathroom thing on our own as well. My sister usually ends up just going on the street while I climb to the top of a snowbank. Happy Valentines Day!

I’m not ashamed to say I went through my pictures of Henri and Gracie to see if I could find something heart shaped!
A+ for ingenuity!

This is great Jodi. Gotta admit I cruised thru target last nite in hopes of finding a photo prop…find a little heart, now have got to figure something out. Fortunately my friend sent me a cool valentine photo that I am sharing on my blog today. Maybe I’ll have something ready for next year!!
I like pic monkey and have found Visualizer Photo downsizer (FREE) on line that downsizes and places my copywrite info on my photos in seconds–LOVE IT!!
Fun Post–happy valentines day!!
All Things Collie says
I do, and if you viewed our Christmas and New Year’s pictures, you would see I buy props too! I didn’t do it for Valentine’s Day though. (Well, not this Valentine’s day, I have done it in the past! lol)
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
Are you calling me a dork? lol! I totally slacked on my Valentine post and I’m so ashamed of myself! I think you did a great job drawing the heart! Very clever!
Hope you have a great Valentines Day Jodi!
Gizmo (@GizmoGeodog) says
Yes Jodi your photo did make me laugh…How often have I had the best idea for a posed photo shoot and had it go totally wrong…Gizmo’s not into it, the weather won’t cooperate, and my favorite…the camera decides to lose its mind…Oh well, candids are always the best anyway…I’m interested in what others are using for watermarking myself, so I hope you do a FUF of responses tomorrow (hint hint)

Pre-planned or not, that is a PERFECT heart-made-of-dogs. I mean it’s no Cupcake-in-a-kissing-booth, but really really good. I plan photo shoots (need a life much?) and in some instances (last week) actually build a doggie kissing booth out of an LLBean box.

I don’t really plan photoshoots, no. Mostly I try to take pictures that don’t have wires and shoes in them.
I do love your “dogs as heart” picture…very existential 😉

Hey Jodi,
Don’t worry, my Mum always struggles with all the theme stuff too, I love your creativity – pawfect!
I hope you all had a lovely valentines day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Jodi – I DID laugh out loud at your heart! Very creative. 🙂
Definitely get the synchronized running on tape for us. Now that Delilah has dared the snow, I bet they’ll both beat it down in no time!
