Hubby’s alarm goes off during the week at 5:30 am. He gets up and hops in the shower. After he’s done showering he gets dressed, kisses me good-bye and heads to the kitchen.
Some mornings both dogs follow him and other mornings it’s just Delilah. Sampson likes to lie in bed with me and snuggle. (Well it’s more like I’m trying to snuggle but he wants his ears rubbed.)
My alarm goes off at 6:00 am. Most days I hit the snooze button so I get up about 6:15. Once I’m up, I head into the kitchen to get the dog’s food ready, after it’s ready I place it in the microwave to help take the chill off it. (We feed raw….more on that in another post.)
After the dog’s food is ready, I go back in my room pick out my clothes and head for the bathroom. At this stage Sampson is either on the bed or on the couch in the living room. Delilah is normally on the bed.
If I exit the closet and Delilah is NOT on the bed, that means Mischief.
On rare occasions she brings her treasure into the bedroom, but most days she heads right for the living room rug.
Which is exactly where I found her.
It’s the creamer I used when I melted butter for my popcorn the night before.
I had left it IN THE SINK.
I was slightly surprised that she carried a heavy creamer to the living room, and very grateful she didn’t drop it on the kitchen floor. (She could have hurt herself!)
What does your fur baby do that surprises you?

I am impressed that she could reach it in the sink!

Hahaha! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. 🙂
Gizmo (@GizmoGeodog) says
I can’t help but be impressed…That was very delicate work Delilah got up to…I remember the days of dawgie counter surfing well…It’s kind of nice having a dog too small to try it…For Gizmo that would be the impossible dream 😉

My new kitten Freddie gets up to all kinds of mischief (he is truly living up to his namesake)! He drinks from our cups, sticks his face in our food when we are trying to eat and climbs in the dishwasher to name a few things!
Peggy Frezon says
Nice trick! I think it would have been better with the popcorn too!
When I was growing up, my mom kept a sugar bowl on the dining room table, and every morning she’d find the sugar bowl empty. Of course it didn’t take long to figure out that our lab was helping himself to a sweet treat.

OMG, you just gave me an idea for a post in my own blog! I hope you don’t mind if I use your “Monday Mischief” badge once I finally get the post typed & published!

PS I love this post! Callie has at various times stolen food off the counter when we haven’t been watching her closely enough to prevent it, though she’s never taken the dish it was in. Sounds like our girls have similar traits. 🙂
Donna says
How nice that she didn’t break it on you. Bet she wishes you saved her some popcorn too!
Roxy the traveling dog says
Wow, talented to get the creamer from the sink, and carry it ever so nicely like that.
Frankie Furter and Ernie says
Well WE couldn’t do THAT !!! We can’t BEGIN to reach the SINK let alone Carry somethingy THAT heavy. WAY TO GO!!! We can TELL how PROUD your mom is !!
Kirsten says
Well good job Delilah! My pups love to scrounge plastic containers with food left in them, but have not made the jump to dishes–yet!

I think the biggest shock was when I was about 3 and figured out counter surfing. Mom had a quiche on the island waiting to go into the oven, she took the trash to the garage, not gone even a minute and when she came back the quiche was all over the cupboards, floor, me, everywhere but the pan and I was happily cleaning up the mess! I had never done that before but once I figured it out, I have not forgotten and mom has to always make sure food is out of my reach! Too bad she did not get a photo of that mess!
Blueberry's human says
That’s so funny!
I think Blueberry chowing down on treats cooling down on the rack on the counter and eating egg shells I had left on the counter were the most surprising. I could tell you stories of my other dogs’ antics that would make your hair curl! 😉

Blog after blog, I read about dogs getting goodies out of the sink, or licking goodies in the sink. I have GOT to figure out how to get into the sink. Curse my tiny body!! The sink and all its possibilities might as well be on Mars. I’m stuck licking the floor and hoping for a crumb.
Love and floor licks,
Cupcake

LOL!!! Great move. Isnt it amazing when they break their routine we immediately know they are up to something. Its like when it is quiet… I know something is up and it is usually Ginger, Rutherford and Walter plotting something with lil Hallie urging them on as Lad grins evilly cause he has already done it all… LOL….
God Bless You!

How on earth did she get it out of the sink (especially without dropping it)? She is one smart and determined dog!
Georgia Little Pea says
What a great story LOL. The trials of living with a big dog. You have to be so careful where you leave things especially food. But in the sink? That’s too smart!
snoopy@snoopysdogblog says
Wow buddy, that’s awesome mischief!! You sure are a master, and you didn’t even drop it!!
I bet Sampson was super impressed with you too, hey?! 🙂
Keep up the great work,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

I had a greyhound foster that was able to pull things out of the sink. Very annoying… But also very cute.
