Welcome to this week’s edition of co-hosted Follow-up Friday Blog Hop.
My co-hostess this week is someone I admire very much. She adopted a shy, fearful dog and found out she has some reactivity issues. Some people would give up on dog like Bella, but not Leslie and Jan. They’ve found an agility class for reactive dogs and have met with behavioral specialists to find a way to help Bella. Leslie courageously shares their story on her blog.
Many thanks to Leslie from Bringing Up Bella, for co-hosting the FUF blog hop. The blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.
Trail Blazers – Author’s Note
The snow we got was the light and fluffy kind. All you snow connoisseurs will know, the light, fluffy snow is just as bad (if not worse) than the heavy wet snow.
While I could only manage one loop around, the dogs got plenty of running time. I however felt like I’d worked out in the gym for about an hour.
That is hard work!
I. Kid. You. Not.
The Dog Squad – Update
Can you say, open mouth, insert foot?
It was supposed to be a fun post mainly designed to get some followers on Pinterest. It worked, I now have 16 Pinterest followers, but at first I don’t think it came off quite the way the post was intended.
Initially I started reading the comments and I thought, WHOA, that’s not how I meant it at all. I thought maybe I better go in and update the post to try to make it a bit clearer. When I signed into my dashboard there was a comment in the spam folder from Yvonne DiVita.
OMG. Yvonne DiVita read my blog.
I started to hyperventilate. Where’s a paper bag when you need one?
But, I caught my breath, updated the post and calmed down a bit.
My friend Cokie wrote this in the comments:
“you thought it looked like the cat people worked it with their wardrobe more than the dog people at BlogPaws, which I think is a fair statement in that I remember seeing more fanciful cat ears, cat prints, cat glasses, cat earrings and cat jewelry in general, than dog ears, dog glasses and dog earrings… Just sayin’ =^..^=”
Thank you Cokie. That is exactly what I meant.
Pet Blogger Challenge – Author’s Note
What a great, thought-provoking challenge. I’ve barely gotten into reading the posts (last I looked there were over 80 participants) but I’m already learning so much from all of you.
Great job to all who participated and thanks so much to Amy, from Go Pet Friendly for hosting this blog hop. I really look forward to participating again next year.
Speaking of blog hops, this wraps it up for me. Many thanks to Leslie from Bringing Up Bella for sharing the co-hosting duties.
This is the Follow-Up Friday Blog hop,

But………ya gotta admit it brought a TON of views now didn’t it? 🙂 BTW I volunteer to dress up in a DOG COSTUME. You find the costume, I’ll wear it! Make sure it is in SIZE ROTUND
Jodi Stone says
LOL Caren, yes it certainly brought comments. 🙂 I’ll keep you posted on the costume!
Genevieve says
Is it wrong that I don’t know who Yvonne DiVita is….?
Jodi Stone says
No not at all Genevieve. She is one of the founders of the BlogPaws website. She’s like famous at blogpaws. 🙂
Emma says
Going through the snow is a great work out for you and the pups, yes it is rough but great for your body! We were in the pet blogger challenge too and have lots of reading to do as there were so many entries but we are going to tackle it over the next few days. There are some great ideas out there!
Jodi Stone says
Agreed Emma, I think we will all learn a lot from each other. I think I’ll take notes. 🙂
2 brown dawgs says
Gosh I went back and read the comments on The Dog Squad post. I didn’t notice the controversy at all. I was just worried about Printrest (or whatever it is called). 🙂 I am a bit concerned that the group seems to be so touchy. 😛
caren gittleman says
Ok. I feel compelled to respond because it was ME who started the controversy and I want to explain why I reacted the way that I did which set off a firestorm.
First, I LOVE ALL ANIMALS. Those that know me (and there are many here who do) know that I have a DOG AND A CAT. I LOVE them both.
Because I also write Cat Chat (which is my oldest and main blog) I am more familiar with the cat bloggers than I am with the dog bloggers.
Some months ago a contest was run on a blog for “Cat Ruler Of The World” and some die hard cat folks said some rather rude things about dogs. What ensued was a Cat vs Dog mentality and it wasn’t nice. Many folks got upset because just because many love cats it doesn’t mean they do NOT love dogs.
I completely misinterpreted Jodi’s post, (due to what had transpired some months ago on another blog)
I was afraid there was going to be another “Cat vs Dog” situation.
It wasn’t my intent to be “touchy” quite the contrary. I was stating my love for all animals and that BlogPaws loves ALL animals equally.
I simply misinterpreted the post and for that I apologize. It was NOT about being “touchy”
When I was at BlogPaws 2 years ago, yes, Jodi is right, more cat people wore cat items. I wore cat ears AND a dog necklace and a T-shirt with my cat AND dog.
To rectify this…if anyone wants to purchase a DOG SUIT IN SIZE ROTUND, trust me I will wear it at BlogPaws WITH my cat ears!
I love all animals!
I deeply apologize for any misunderstanding.
Jodi Stone says
Hey Caren,
That was very sweet of you to apologize. We are all animal lovers here and tend to get a bit ‘hot under the collar’ for issues we are passionate about.
I’m so sorry you had that experience on another blog, and totally understand where you are coming from, if I’d had that experience I probably would
have reacted in the same way.
The best thing about this post was it got people talking, right?
Which is why we write. 🙂 Have a great day!!
Kristine says
Love that snowy photo! Snow is definitely an awesome tool for a workout. Who needs a gym? It’s also a lot more fun than any treadmill.
Happy Friday!
Jodi Stone says
I swear Kristine, a half hour walk produced more sweat than an hour at the gym! LOL
Leslie says
Thanks for the opportunity to co-host today’s hop, Jodi. I like this opportunity to follow up on stuff that comes up during the week. I completely forgot to follow up on the Blogger’s challenge in my post but I admit, today wasn’t my best effort post since I’m apparently also fighting the flu. Yippee. And sorry.
I love that picture of the snow. And yes, I do know exactly how hard it is to walk in the stuff. Jan snow blows a path around our yard these days and it’s a good thing, too. 2011 the snow was deeper than Bella is tall and she’s a pretty big girl. I don’t even want to know what it would have been like to haul her through that. 🙂
Hope you have a fabulous weekend. And thanks again.
Jodi Stone says
I hope you feel better soon Leslie, thanks so much for co-hosting while feeling under the weather. I totally would have understood if you’d wanted to wait. And anytime you’d like to co-host just drop me a line. I usually line them up on Tuesdays and I’m always looking for someone!!
I remember the snow from that year, it was so high the dogs could step over the fence!!
Carol Bryant says
Well I am glad our blogs brought us to find one another and I have a new online pal!
Jodi Stone says
Me too Carol!!
Sue at Talking Dogs says
Love that snow photo! And, please, somebody get some video of Caren in a dog suit… 😉
caren gittleman says
Sue, my dear friend who I adore…you don’t know me as well as you thought that you do hehehe…have you seen the photos of me in a LION HEAD HAT from last weekend on my Facebook profile page? I march to my own drummer…wearing a dog suit would be NORMAL for me 🙂
You know I ADORE you!
xoxoxo
Yvonne DiVita says
This is fantastic! I love that your post brought a conversation together. This is what blogging is about. I love that snow photo, too, btw. You are doing some great work here, Jodi.
