When Pamela over at Something Wagging suggested a Pet Blogger Gift Exchange wherein you are paired with a blogger you get to know and then share “encouragement, compliments, and a little bit of link love” in a blog hop, I said Hell Yeah.
Sign. Me. Up.
Then I got an e-mail from Pamela telling me I was paired with Cokie the Cat’s blog.
WTF?
A. Cat. Blog.
I almost wrote back, um, excuse me Pamela? I write about….Dogs. Yes Pamela, Dogs.
Then I paused. In the spirit for which the blog hop was intended, I held my tongue and thought, my blog is titled Heart Like A dog, what would a dog do?
Stalk the cat?
No, no. Heart like a dog would give the cat blog a chance!!
Before I even had a chance to check out the blog, I received an e-mail from Kristin, Cokie’s mom. She introduced herself and Cokie of course and told me a little bit about herself.
1) She works in the film industry. (Can you say Jealous? I’m more of a daytime star kind of girl, but I do know who Jerry Lewis is and yes, she’s working on his latest film!)
2) Her second full-time job is a Special Projects manager for Blog Paws!! (Super excited about this, helloooo BlogPaws 2013 here I come!)
3) She’s a Twitter genius. In fact, she has a whole section on her blog with Twitter tips.
4) Kristin has a great sense of humor. She added me as her friend on Blog Paws and when I told her I’d already been snooping about her blog, she responded with “You’re nosing around my blog?? Well I’m gonna go rub my cheeks all over your! =^..^= Cokes”
5) She shares the love. The day after we met, she asked her followers on Twitter to follow Heart Like A Dog.
I discovered we also have some things in common.
- Just like yours truly, she recently moved her blog. Although she moved from Blogger to WordPress, where I only moved to self-hosted.
- She recently ran a photo contest on her blog.
- She wears many hats, besides cat mom, blogger, twitter genius….she also is the co-founder/writer for The Anipal Times.
Have you checked out Cokie the Cat yet? Well what are you waiting for. Go on over, say hello and tell them the dog sent you.
And did I mention, this is the Pet Blogger Gift Exchange hosted by Something Wagging. Go check out the other cool blogs and see how Blogville shares the love.

I must admit, I like cat blogs better than I like cats. They scare me sometimes when they pop out from under cars and stare at me. I will check out Cokie right now. I hope she’s not hiding under a car….
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Bob Stone my daughter’s cat has shot out from under stuff and scared the Bejesus out of me, I sympathize with you.
Gizmo (@GizmoGeodog) says
Cokie is one anipal who should be introduced with the line”and needs no introduction”…a cat with a paw in everywhere. Both Cokie’s blog and twitter feed are on my “must follow” list.
Jodi Stone says
Definitely Gizmo, Cokie’s the cat in the know!!
Sue at Talking Dogs says
Hmmm…. well, I love cats and I love Cokie the Cat 🙂 I agree with Gizmo, Cokie is a “must follow”

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to use my blog twitter and FB accounts more, so I will be checking out her tips. 🙂
Jodi Stone says
You will learn a lot from her. Have you considered joining BlogPaws? There’s a lot of stuff there too. I need to learn more about BlogPaws and all the resources they offer.
Carol Bryant says
Kristin is the real deal. She is true, experienced, fun, funny, and is a pleasure to work with at BlogPaws. I learn often from her and she is super tenacious. Great blog to follow and this is a well-written post. I will be following uou, too!
Jodi Stone says
Thank you Carol, she seems like all of those things to me, and I’ve yet to meet her. 🙂 I’m looking forward to meeting her at conference and you too!!

We do not discriminate in Blogville. (except fur Peeps and Squirrels) Peeps could learn SO MUCH from US… there is no hope fur the squirrels though.
Jodi Stone says
Yes, peeps definitely need to learn from our furry friends. You are also right about squirrels…..no hope.

What a great write up on Cokie the Cat! I have heard of her blog and visited a few times, but I think I’m going to have to really start reading her blog more, she really seems like a hoot!
Jodi Stone says
I think Cokie has a lot to teach us!!
Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comes says
Jodi, you have such a sense of style. I would never confuse this post with anyone else’s. And that’s why I love you.
Glad you put on the Heart of a Dog before sending me a WTF email. 🙂 And to get the most out of BlogPaws in May, you’re going to have to get to know some cat bloggers. They are absolutely awesome! And Kristin is definitely one of their divas.
See, it was fate.
Thanks for joining the Pet Blogger Gift Exchange.
Jodi Stone says
I’m not sure if having a sense of style is a good or bad thing. ;-0
I can definitely work with Cokie, but I’m going to have to challenge the dog folks to up their game. We can’t be upstaged by cats. LOL
Thanks for including me in your pet blogger exchange Pamela and for putting up with me.
Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comes says
It’s most certainly a good thing. 🙂

Since I have a cat and a dog blog I know Cokie quite well! You did a great job writing about her and I am glad you took the plunge over to the “cat side” for a bit!
Thanks so much for visiting Dakota today, we are now following you!
Jodi Stone says
Oh I loved checking out Dakota’s blog, I’m adding the feed to my google reader so I can keep up! Do you have a cat blog too?

I met Kristin and stuffed Cokie (as in stuffed toy, not the real Cokie stuffed :>) at BlogPaws 2011. It was great talking to her; her job sounds real cool! And she was so nice to help us with her Twitter tips on the BlogPaws Community. I love how helpful people in the pet blogosphere are!
Jodi Stone says
I remembered Cokie from the twitter tips on BPs! I hope I’m getting to meet them at 2013, even if it’s only a stuffed Cokie. 🙂
Jet says
Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
Oh you did that feline proud! Wowee wow wow… what a creative human! Thank you for sharing so much cool info. Wasn’t this the best idea? We loved participating, too.
If only Mom would permit me to tweet…. hmpf…
Hey, we’re thinking about attending Blogpaws, too!!! Trying to save biscuit $$$$
Cokie the Cat: Hollywood Insider says
Holy crapmoli Jodi!
Mom only just saw this post now! She’s got a little TOO much goin’ on, if you ask me. She’s letting my blog go to seed while she’s galavanting around with BlogPaws & movie stars, and I’m not getting anywhere near enough cheek scrunches lately. Just sayin’.
Tonight she’s taking freaking plush Cokie to Tillman’s Natural Balance New Year’s Eve Party, and hanging with Tilly, Rose and Sully, and meeting the military hero dogs that will ride Tillman’s float tomorrow in the Rose Parade – where Mom, my stand-in, and Chloe from BlogPaws will be sitting in the VIP seats with Rick Rockhill – Sr. VP at Natural Balance.
Whatev’s. I prefer to watch it on TV. : P
Anyway, thanks so much for the great post! You made us both blush (which isn’t actually that hard to do since we’re both pretty pale) ~ but srsly… THANK YOU. We’re so glad we were paired up with you, too. Love your blog and can’t believe we didn’t know you before!
=^..^=
Love,
Cokie the Cat
And Happy New Year!

Look at you…. bridging the cat-dog divide! 🙂
