It was super foggy here yesterday morning.
I was on the fence about walking the dogs in the woods in the fog, so I thought we’d head up to the field, so they could at least stretch their legs.
You could probably see clearly 50 feet in front of you, but beyond that it was sketchy.
We walked into the field and I worked Delilah with a couple of long recalls, so she could run a bit and tire herself out. π
I looked at my watch, we’d burned five minutes.Β I thought to myself, how many times can they walk around this field before Delilah gets bored and takes off?
I looked at the woods, they beckoned yet repelled me.
I gave in, but proceeded cautiously.Β It was a foggy day like this on New Year’s eve when I took a fall coming down that very trail.Β I didn’t want to spend another night in the emergency room.
Plus for some reason I was pretty freaked walking in the fog, maybe the dogs sensed my unease or maybe they were a little freaked too, because they stayed really close.
I kept to the trails I was comfortable with and we enjoyed a half hour walk.
After about a half hour, we headed home and while I was changing my clothes the dogs got their zoomies on, after which Sampson took a nap.
With his vest on. π
I love this dog.
What kind of things does your dog do that makes you smile?
Genevieve says
Fog is scary. Mom keeps me on my leash and close by because I am afraid of everything. Including fog. And whatever is hiding in the fog. And ladders. And street signs. And soccer players…..
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Jodi Stone says
Poor Cupcake, why are you so afraid?
Animalcouriers says
It does look rather spooky π It’s funny how dogs sense your mood and don’t push the boundaries when you are ill at ease.
Jodi Stone says
It made me feel better and when they stopped and stared? I turned around. π
Sam says
We very rarely get fog here in AZ, but when we do, I stay in. It seriously creeps me out!
Our boys do so many things during the day that make us smile – it’s hard to pick one.

My dogs make me laugh so many times throughout the day too!! I would like not having fog, but you have snakes and BIG spiders. π
Jet says
Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
We can understand your reticence (VBP)… however, your photos are beautiful, eerie, captivating….
Jodi Stone says
Thanks Jetty, I thought they were pretty cool too!
Frankie Furter and Ernie says
FOG is SCARY… Squirrels can HIDE in it and Swoop down and do MEAN stuffs. I am glad you got home SAFE before THAT happened.
Jodi Stone says
LOL Squirrels? You don’t like squirrels?
Georgia Little Pea says
I’m not sure I would have spent an hour walking around in that fog. You’re a brave woman!
Jodi Stone says
Well it was only half an hour and it was nerve racking I can tell you that!!
Bert says
My Vickie and I get really nervous when we can’t see too far ahad of us when we are walking. WE are not afraid of the animals, but of strange humans lurking in the fog.
My Vickie has quite an imagination…….
Bert
Jodi Stone says
She must be a writer Bert, we have an active imagination. I feel the same way…
jan says
Fog makes me really nervous. I try to think of it as being spiritual, like we are walking in heaven or something. But I’d rather avoid it.
Jodi Stone says
That’s a great way to look at it Jan, I didn’t feel like that walking in it though. LOL
Kim-Life at Golden Pines says
I sometimes feel that way about the heavy fog too–I actually get a little claustrophobic…
Jodi Stone says
For me it’s unsettling, I’m always worried there is someone lurking. π
2 brown dawgs says
That fog looks like our pheasant hunting experience. I find fog a bit creepy so I understand your unease. The pictures are cool though!
Jodi Stone says
At least you had a husband and a gun with you!! LOL I didn’t have either.
