The Dogs of Blogville Calendar contest is closed.
It was a hotly contested race between Ryder and Kori from All Things Collie and Schatzie from My Girlz Got Paws. The third place finisher wasn’t even close to these guys.
Initially they went back and forth, with first one in the lead and then the other, but the Collies were tenacious and when the voting ended Saturday morning, they were clearly the winners with 283 votes!
Shatzie had an impressive second place finish with 238 votes, compared to the third place finisher (Sampson and Delilah) with 70 votes.
Congratulations Ryder and Kori (and their mom of course) job well done, you will be on the cover of the dogs of Blogville Calendar.
All told there were 887 votes, which I find completely amazing! I want to thank all of you for participating in this very fun event.
To make things easier on myself I decided to include the photos in the calendar in the order they finished.
The calendar will look something like this:
January – Ryder and Kori (All Things Collie)
February – Schatzie (My Girlz Got Paws)
March – Sampson and Delilah (Heart Like a Dog)
April – Maia and Titan (Misty Shores Chesapeakes)
May – Mollie (Mollie and Alfie)
June – Toby (Donna and the Dogs Just Toby)
July – Honey (Something Wagging)
August – Frankie and Ernie (Frankly and Ernestly Speaking)
September – Shiva (Rescued Insanity)
October – Blueberry (Spotty, Spotty, Polkadotty)
This is the very first (that I know of) Blogville Calendar and when I set out the rules I sadly forgot to anticipate what would happen if there were a tie.
As it turns out 1 thru 10 were very clear. However 11, 12, and 13 tied with the same amount of votes.
I wasn’t sure which would be the fairest way to determine which two went into the calendar, so what I did was put 11, 12, and 13’s names on a slip of paper and had Hubby pull one out.
November – Molly (Molly the Wally)
And December’s will be shared with Mazzie (Mazzie Takes Manhattan) and Cali (The Daily Dog Blog)
I just didn’t think it would be fair to exclude one of them.
The remaining 7 photos will go on the back cover.
There you have it, the results of the Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest.
As of right now, I’m still leaning toward Vista Print, to do the processing, but now that the contest is over I will be shopping around, looking for the best bang for the buck.
There are a couple of photos that were entered that were really small and may be hard to blow up. It may be that you just copied a photo from somewhere and I will be contacting you and asking for the original. If you don’t have the original, then we may need to put a border around your picture and I will let you know that as well.
I hope to have a post up within the next few days about the ordering process.
If any of you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to make this easier or cheaper, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. I want to get these done and out so you all get them by Christmas. (Also, if you see any errors, please let me know ASAP, I tried to be careful and accurate.)
Thank you all so much for participating and for all your hard work in promoting this contest.
Congratulations to all of you, you are amazing!! Please give yourself a pat on the back.
I know there were some issues with the polling not working, but other than that, how do you think it went? Would you like to see this become an annual event?

Sad there had to be a winner as both photos are so gorgeous – it’s going to be a cracking calendar and hope it raises lots of money. Well done you for coming up with the idea and the puff to get this to press!

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
Congrats to the winners and thanks for your hard work. We had trouble voting a few days and should have emailed, but… alas, Mom forgot! Glad everyone will be represented.
Uh, Miss Jodi? Not that you asked or anything, but, we feel quite strongly that Sampson and Delilah should be on the cover. Just sayin’….
Can’t wait to purchase and help our blogpals. 🙂

Nice job with the contest. We just are not real good about voting contests and mom was so busy over the weekend she usually forgot to vote. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!

We would love for this to become an annual event! It was fun, and all the supporters in our collie group were amazing! But most importantly, it’s for two great causes!

Congrats to all the winners and participants. Did not get to vote much…no internet…lol.

Good job on making this happen! A yearly thing? Sure, if you’re up to it. I should have entered a photo but missed the deadline, so maybe next year. Congratulations to all the entrants!
Sue says
Jodi, I think making the calendars an “annual event” is a great idea; but I don’t think you should have to do all the work each year. Maybe some of us can help you with the planning and such? Just a thought.
Sue says
By the way, my Callie, Shadow, and Ducky (yes Ducky — that’s the name the folks at the shelter gave her and we haven’t been able to think of anything more fitting) all agree with Jet: Sampson & Delilah should be on the front cover. And I happen to agree, too. After all, you’re the one who came up with the idea and made it all come together…. Just sayin’.
Blueberry's human says
Wow – I am stunned that Blueberry is October! Very cool!
Yes, both of the top two photos were great and sadly, only one could be the winner. I love the idea of this being an annual event! You were very fair in handling this and you certainly didn’t have to include all of the dogs and may not be able to every year, but thank you for doing that for everyone this time! 🙂

Those Collie expressions were pretty unbeatable. And who can resist a German Shepherd in the snow? Shiva with a yellow flower is one of my all time favorite pictures. Heck, what a great selection of photos. And so generous of you to set it up.
I’ve never done anything like this so I don’t know how vistaprint compares with other companies. I’ve heard good things about cafepress and zazzle.
Thanks for organizing this calendar. It’s been lots of fun so far.
dawn says
I was going to suggest Cafepress or Zazzle also. One of the benefits to them is you don’t have to order a set number of calendars, pay upfront and possibly be stuck with some afterward. They are made to order so people would go to the site to order on their own.
Congrats to the winners!!
Darlene Kerr says
I love the calendar and am so happy the collies won. It was not easy choosing..since I dearly love german shepherds as well. but as a collie person I fell in love with the beautiful picture of Ryder and Kori..loved seeing both varieties of my favorite breed represented. I look forward to purchasing a calendar as soon as I know how to go about it. I do hope this will be an annual event.
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
Congratulations to all the winners! That is going to be one special calendar!
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
Great job Jodi and congratulations to all the winners!!
You could give Mixbook a look http://www.mixbook.com/ not sure if they are any more reasonable. I do want one!
All things collie says
No idea of the quality, but Photobucket also lets you create calendars…

A calendar full of our blog friends!!! Yay!!!
Kristine says
Yay! Congratulations to all, especially the top two winners! That collie photo is just stunning and I admit I voted for it myself a few times. I am so excited my dog will be in a calendar! Woo hoo!
Good job on putting it all together!

Stunning, stunning photos. I cannot believe the number of votes. That’s incredible. I definitely think you should make this an annual event (hopefully but next year I get my act together properly). You have done an outstanding job.
