Today we join our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.
“This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post. It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!”
Walking In A Winter Wonderland
Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, but the dogs really have to go, we’re in the snow, in the snow, in the snow.
Yes, last week we had Hurricane Sandy, this week, well initially they called it a Nor’easter, but it seems to me like it’s just a snow storm. It started just before noon yesterday and by the time I got home, it was just starting to stick to the roads.
The dogs don’t care though, they’ve been stuck inside all day and are itching to get out. It was still snowing, but we bundled up and out the door we went.
I don’t normally bring my camera for night walks because it’s too dark and my little point and shoot doesn’t work that great in the dark, but once we got outside last night I thought, it’s not so dark, maybe I could take a few pictures.
Turns out falling snow and uncooperative dogs don’t really mix. Throw in the coordination needed to activate the camera with a dog on a fifteen foot least attached to your arm and well, let’s just say…epic fail.
Out of the 20 or so pictures I took, these are the best.
I even tried to get them to pose when we got back to the house but that didn’t work out either. 🙂
Why is it my Hubby keeps telling me my cell phone camera is a better camera than my point and shoot? I think it takes craptastic pictures. It can’t be operator error, can it?
And for the record, we got about 3 inches of snow, which is nothing. AND it’s going to be 60 degrees this weekend. Bye-bye snow!
NaNoWriMo
The story is developing, just not in the way I expected. Imagine my embarrassment when I realized my mystery/detective story is also going to be a love story.
Phhhht.
It is also not easy (at least for me) to get 1,667 words in each day. Some days I struggle worse than others.
Here’s the problem I’m having and I would love if those of you who write or are taking this challenge have any thoughts.
It seems like I need to write in sequence, at least that’s how it’s working for me. The question is, how do you keep track of things. Do you ever write out out sequence?
Don’t forget to get your pictures in for the Dogs of Blogville Calendar.

I am watching your weather… and it is really a shame that THIS has come on the heels of Sandy… when SO MANY are still suffering “HER” Effects… Paws crossed fur EVERYBUDDY in your Region.

11,600 words – wowee 😀 Coming along nicely then.
Doggy's Style says
I miss the snow, it doesn’t snow in Seville so if I want Doggy to experience that I have to take him up the mountains and I will.
11,160 words sounds like a lot to me, I write posts of 300-400 post and I feel accomplished enough to want a Pulitzer.

First the horrors of Sandy and now snow?? You guys just can’t get a break. I have no idea how Halifax has avoided both of these storms and am a little worried it’s going to come back on us trifold. At least the dogs are having a good time? Hopefully this one will blow over before becoming a huge problem!

We hope the weather cheers up a bit your way. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

We have been watching the weather fronts on the east coast and hoping for the best. Glad to hear that all is well.
I think most women have trouble writing anything that doesn’t involve love. 🙂

Thanks for doing a TNT post! I initially started to write one and then realized I would have nothing for FUF…lol. This time of year not much happening.
I like your pictures. I like the way the snow looks like meteors. 🙂 We are going to have 60 this weekend too. Hope you have improving weather.
Do you ever outline? Sometimes when I am writing something super long, I will jot a quick and informal outline just so I don’t loose my place. Then I just write straight through. If I get stuck, sometimes I will just stick a word or thought in as the paragraph and move on. Then I go back when I have things more solid in my brain. Of course I do not write novels, but it is the way I write. I try to get the basics down and then go back to edit, but if I am on a roll, I will go backward and forward, etc.

My word, what a time you’ve had of it. Sandy and then snow. Glad you have a fire. I think the middle pic worked out pretty well and the others are definitely the cameras fault.

I like how your snow pictures came out. I love playing in the snow!

I’m jealous of your snow. I think that’s what I need to make me put shoes on so I won’t be so cold. 🙂

Yes, I often write out of order. In fact, the novella I am currently working on is the first time I’ve written in order (and I’ve still jumped backwards to do some rewrites).
There are a lot of good ways to keep track of things- lots. But I’m not going to tell you about any of them until December. Why? Because NaNoWriMo isn’t about keeping the details in check. Whether your write in order or out of order, your story often changes, so your details need to change. When your details need to change, you have to go back and edit. DO NOT EDIT, not during NaNoWriMo. Just write. Don’t worry about whether his hair was brown or black five chapters ago. Don’t worry about if her favorite drink is coffee, black or earl grey, hot. Just write.
And when the month is over, come back and ask about the tricks for remembering details and getting them right. I will happily share.
Now go get some writing done.

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
Can we tell you that we LOVE your first 2 pics… we think you used special effects!
Crazy weather… we’re going down to the 50’s here in the tropics. We LOVE it… I’m more inclined to snuggle with Mom. 🙂 Doesn’t sound like a big deal… however a few days ago it was almost 90!
We have to go to the blogville calendar… whoops…

Those are great snowy pictures!
I write in sequence as well; its’ very very rare that I’ll write a scene out of sequence. If I do, I put it in a different file until it’s time to add that scene in. 2 brown dawgs has a good suggestions with the outline. I don’t typically outline, but I have this time, and I would say that it’s helped me along a great deal. Because of the outline, I don’t have to worry about “what comes next” in my writing time, just getting the words out.
Sounds like you’re doing well, with 11, 160 words!

I like those shots!!
Yep try the outline idea from 2 Brown Dawgs that’s what I do too 🙂
