I’ve mentioned before that fall is my favorite time of year.
I love the beauty that comes with the changing of the leaves.
I welcome the cooler air, which allows for cozy sweaters, cuddles by the fire and hot toddies.
I’m grateful the bugs seem to go into hiding.
There is one thing that comes with fall, that I’m less than thrilled with.
It gets dark too early, which means the wood walks that I love taking with Sampson and Delilah only happen on the weekends, or on the rare day I can steal a longer lunch.
Which means our weekend walks are something to be treasured.
I’ve been working Delilah really hard on her recall, she’s gotten so a good part of our walk in the woods is off-leash. Granted there are certain areas that I simply can’t take the chance of her wandering somewhere she shouldn’t, so I call her to me and she stays on leash.
I can live with this. I like the fact that she gets some off-leash time to really run, which should help her keep her weight down.
There are many times during our walk, when Delilah is off-leash, but still right next to me.
Yesterday the four of us headed up to the woods. I let Delilah off-leash right away, only clipping her when we approached those danger zones.
At one point I realized that Sampson was on one side of me and Delilah was on the other. I turned to ask Hubby if he could take a picture.
But he was already on it. 🙂
This my friends, is my ideal walk.
Do you have an ideal walk? Do you love it when a plan comes together? 🙂

Congrats on your word count! It’s exciting isn’t it? I’m really enjoying just writing, although I want to edit as I go along. I keep telling myself to knock it off, wait for December!
Love your picture!

You are an inspiration! I love the picture! When my two older dogs were pups, I was still employed full-time. I really need to work on their recall during the day while “little sister” is at doggie daycare, but I keep making excuses.

A walk when they do everything you could hope for is a true blessing. You come home beaming ear to ear – not much can beat it!

We’re always envious of that great place you have to walk your dogs. My dogs can only imagine all the great smells there must be there. Having a dog good on recall is a tribute to you both with all the temptations.

That’s a great picture! I’m so glad that Delilah is doing so well.
And, congrats on the wordcount! That’s just about on schedule!

That was a great picture! I love walks in the mornings because everything seems to be ‘renewed and fresh’ from the day before. But I don’t like that it’s going to be dark when I leave work and arrive home now.

What a lovely photo. Wanted to pop over to your blog after reading your dog’s guest post on Molly’s blog. It was so funny!

Aww, that’s a great shot!! I love fall too! Congrats on your writing, we knew you would rock it 🙂

Love this! Your work with Delilah is inspiring. You have proven what a little perseverance can do. Did you ever think one year ago that she would be walking so calmly beside you while off-leash? You have a lot to be proud of, I am so excited for you both! Who knows where you will be one year from now, or two?

Great photo! It’s great when they listen and want to be by us. 🙂

That is a great picture. 🙂 Our dogs have a fairly good recall, but there are still places we would never walk them off-lead. In fact they are mostly on-lead when we walk. You have done a great job with Delilah.

Congratulations!

That’s a really nice pic of the 3 of you.
In this short time that I’ve been following your blog Delilah has improved exponentially. Doggy is pretty good walking off leash, however, I don’t have the courage to do it in the city like a lot of people do, the thought of a car or a bike coming hit him gives me the creeps.

Great photo!! You have done such a great job with Delilah but I still miss all the mischief stories I read about her when I first started following your blog 🙂 I guess she is all growed up now!
