Today we join our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.
“This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post. It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!”
Sampson
When I last updated you on Sampson’s health matters he was fighting a bacterial ear infection. He finished his antibiotics last Friday and was scheduled for his vet check on Tuesday.
Sunday Hubby noticed he was limping again. 🙁
I also noticed he had a sore on one of his toes on his back leg.
As you can imagine I was quite anxious for Tuesday evening to roll around.
Sampson was extremely vocal at the vet, when she wasn’t petting him, he was giving her what for.
At our visit our vet checked his front paw thoroughly and referred to Sampson as very ‘stoic,’ meaning he didn’t complain or let her know where his boo boo was. Once again he had a diagnosis of soft tissue injury, (the ligament in the back of his paw is slightly swollen.)
He came home with more Meloxicam to be taken as needed. I’m going to contact the holistic vet and see if I can get some more of the body sore that I used with Delilah for her back.
Our vet also rechecked his ears and said the bacterial infection is gone, but he now has a yeast infection in the same ear. He now has different ear drops, twice per day.
I asked her to test him for Lyme and while the test was running, I remembered his toe!
Thankfully the Lyme test came back negative, and after looking at his toe she thinks he scraped his knuckle, which will take a bit longer to heal considering where it is and that fact that it is not a cut per say. She said I could put some antibiotic ointment on it, which I did and which he didn’t like.
I hemmed and hawed over the Leptos vaccine. She felt very confident that his immune system could handle it, but she said the call was mine and she didn’t mind waiting. I went ahead and gave him the vaccine.
Blogville Dogs and Their Rescue Cause Calendar
I honestly don’t know where the time goes. I still need to set this contest up. A couple of you asked in the comments about where the proceeds would go. My first thought was to a dog rescue, but I’ve since been thinking about it and wanted to throw this out there.
Mind you it is just a thought.
There are currently two members (that I know of) in our blogging family that are going through a really tough time right now.
Miss Lilly over at Champion of My Heart has had a horrible reaction to the rabies vaccine and has been struggling with her health for the last 10 months or so. Her vet bills are quite high and they have a chip in on their blog.
Lauren from Life with Desmond lost the entire contents of the first floor of their home due to Hurricane Sandy. The clean-up started yesterday.
I thought it might be nice to split the proceeds from the calendar sales between those two, but it would of course be up to the readers. If you want the recipient to be strictly rescue as originally intended, I totally understand.
I will work really hard to get this contest rolling within the next week. 🙂
Finally NaNoWriMo begins today, I hope you’ll forgive me for my absence on commenting. I will try to keep up with as many blogs as I can and will comment when possible.

Super idea to help bloggers in need – so sorry to hear of the rabies reaction – we haven’t heard about it before. Anyone having to cope with that kind of flooding needs all the help they can get 😉

Thanks for participating in This ‘N That Thursday. 🙂 Sampson’s leg injury sounds almost exactly the reason Thunder ended up in a cast all. this. time. He had swelling too. The idea was to allow that ligament to heal and not use drugs. The hope is that even when the cast comes off he will not need medication. Hopefully…lol. I have not noticed him limping in weeks, so that is an improvement.
Best of luck with your writing!

I sure hope that Sampson is on the way to recovery!! I think he has been poorly sick long enough, give him a hug from me!

Poor Sampson. I hope he gets better really quickly. What a lot of issues he’s been going through.
As far as I’m concerned, the proceeds of the Calendar can go to whomever needs it most. If there are people going through tough times then by all means, send the money there. I think that would be a fabulous idea for two people who have had such a rough time.

Poor Sampson just can’t catch a break. I hope he rests and mends quickly.
By the way, I love the idea of splitting the proceeds between the two bloggers who are going through some tough times. I think it is great that you suggest this and it just proves to me all over again how wonderful this blogging community truly is.

It seems like some dogs can have one physical problem after another for months and then suddenly all is well for a long time after. Hope this is the case with Samson.
Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comes says
Looks like Sampson’s stoicism can be tough. He probably allows himself to get hurt because he doesn’t give himself a break.
Hope you can resolve these things quickly. I an only imagine how worried you must be about him.

I also like your idea of helping fellow bloggers!

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
OMD, please give Sampson extra Jetty kisses and JJ hugs… poor guy has had a time of it the last while. Hmm… yeast… may want to ask the holistic vet about that, may have some insight…

Poor Sampson, these ongoing health issues have me worried! I agree, I think it’s a great idea to share the proceeds with the 2 bloggers, that’s very thoughtful of you Jodi.
