Michael Vick – Author’s Note
I can’t shake you guys up, can I? I thought for sure I’d be getting a lot of flack for my stance on Michael Vick, but you guys took it in stride.
Let’s be clear, I’m not happy that Michael Vick has a dog. I didn’t want him to have a dog, I didn’t give him a dog, and nobody consulted me about him getting a dog. Personally I equate Michael Vick having a dog to Jerry Sandusky adopting a child. Not a good idea.
That being said, it’s too late. Michael Vick has a dog and the best I can do is hope the dog will be loved, well-taken care of and will work his/her magic on Michael.
In my blog the change post Mel left a comment that said, “I wonder what a difference it would have made if Michael Vick had been taught dog fighting was wrong? You just never know.”
I pray Michael Vick can make a difference in someone’s life.
Blogville Dogs and Their Rescue Cause Calendar – Update
There’s a lot of excitement about this calendar. Just to keep you posted, the contest has not started yet. I hope to have all the details and rules worked out for a post next week.
I had a few of you offer to help and I am definitely going to take you up on it. I will be putting an e-mail together this weekend to send out to those who offered help. WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday – Author’s Note
I want to share something really awesome with you. Wednesday night I went into my e-mail and I had a post from Julie Melfi, of the Daily Dog Blog and Leg Up Creative Solutions. As you may remember Julie was instrumental in moving my free WP blog to self-hosted.

Pamela from Something Wagging asked for an update on Delilah’s learning how to take treats gently. When I remember to remind her, she does great. 🙂 If I forget to remind her, well I have to watch my fingers. Sometimes even when I remind her, I need to try more than once.
I was actually thinking the clicker might be a good tool to use for training this. Give me a couple of weeks and ask me again Pamela, hopefully I’ll have a better answer. 🙂

Love the WTF graphic……..when i first read your micheal vick post i had to walk away…..but as i went back and read the links you posted about the messeges you got from others speaches and how it hit you…..i had to stop and think about WWJD…. he would do what you did Jodi….maybe find the bright side of something so terrible that alone made me not respond to ssomething Ifeel is wrong and horrific…I hope and pray you are right and maybe it will change that evil man….maybe because his children are older and have to know what the man has done will keep his dog safe…..but i for one have a hard time wrapping my mind on this vision…
Thanks for coming back and hanging in there Deb. It is very hard to look beyond something so horrific and find something good. But there is one extremely good thing that came from this story, Michael Vick shed the light on something evil and has brought this unsavory business to the public attention. More people are aware of it and more officials are cracking down on it.
Of course we know that Jesus knows what’s in MV’s heart, that’s the difference. And if all the people who trust he’s changed are wrong….well there is a special place in hell…..
Very nice badge. 🙂 Our dogs are pretty good about taking treats. The only time I have issues is when hubby is cutting Freighter’s nails. I get the job of holding a treat for him right in front of his face and he is not gentle…but I am trying to keep his attention…much to the dismay of my fingers. 🙂
Now I need her to re-design the FUF badge! LOL
Does he hate having his nails clipped? Sampson doesn’t care for it, but he tolerates it anyway. Delilah doesn’t care as long as she’s getting treated.
I imagine in that situation the stress is in control rather than the conscious mind. 🙂

Good news on the Delilah front. She’s close to being the perfect dog, but I know you don’t want to say it yet.

Yep, Lamar’s about where Delilah is with taking treats. Fozzie’s mouth is like pure butter when he takes something..always one of my favorite things about him, and he’s always been that way, even when it was about the only thing about him that was calm.
Sampson is the same way as Fozzie. I can let him take something out of my mouth with no problem. Not Delilah! I might just lose a lip. 🙂
